Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been busy Winter Sowing and spending Saturdays at the theatre (actually, last Saturday was spent with my best friend who's like a brother to me).

In 6 days, I'll be 24. No special plans other than the usual DQ ice cream cake and watching Frozen with my. parents.

No, not too busy to cook at all! Made ribs the other night and the week before I made pork chops in the oven. Last week I made deviled eggs and tortilla pinwheel appetizers. Today, I made stuffed mushrooms and orange lemonade for the theatre workday tomorrow. So, yes indeed, I have not given up cooking lol.

In case you did not get my email, please hold on to the shipping receipt, box and shipping material. How to update LOTS of Dark wood trim/ Update paint to lighten

Well that is the dilemma... I actually like some of the wood trim. I think the dining room looks great. Has a bit of character. Im just trying to find the proper "balance" of where I should paint some trim... My husband is ready to have someone come in and paint it ALL WHITE... everything.. I'm like noooooo!!!! So my immediate mission is to "update" and lighten the home without making everything ALL white and losing ALL warmth and character of the home. I dont know what "fixes" I should start with. Doors? Staircase risers and rails? I don't want "all white trim" going up in every room. That means white doors everywhere... once you start... it just keeps going. I have archway into dining room... if it gest painted white it will look weird to have white on one side and brown on the other... so there goes the wood in the dining room...

@User - Not pot lights, but more of a modern style for the dining room and at the base of the stairs - those are both super traditional and its small but has a big impact when you swap them out. If you paint a griege (even lighter maybe than what you mention) it will immediately make your house feel more modern/clean lines. the white is too much of a contrast and isnt' bright like it likely once was. Your tile isn't that bad, the grey/non-tan will pop out with a difference color paint. We did a full house in similar situation a few years ago - changing the spindles/under the steps on the stairway made a MASSIVE change. I couldn't believe what a difference it made. We called around and some places were charging $$$$ to do the stairs, once guy offered to use a sprayer and it was like $500 and done in a day. I had worked on it myself for about 40 hours by that point and realized the bloggers were crazy that thought it was just simple and easy and fast. This house WILL look exactly like you want it too.

re. Paint. When we did our remodel in 2012, we also had the house rewired. That meant we had to paint everything. I loved my Behr color from 2004 and wanted to repeat - read: touch up only. The "paint guy" said that he would use the same formulation for the color, but that Behr had reformulated the base. So we got something that was close, but had more yellow in it from the original color and had to repaint everything. I've learned to expect that when we paint again, we'll either need to change the color or change our expectations. In the meantime, we haven't tried to touch up anything (in fact I can't remember if I even kept some touch up paint!).

Annie, I'm having a Dairy Queen ice cream cake for my birthday, as I have had for the past number of years.

The mushrooms, lemonade and leftover stuffing for the mushrooms were a hit!

That's right, Brad, you said that, I'm sorry. My son in law, Dave, loves the DQ cakes and he gets one every year too.

I thought that you might be celebrating at the theater with your friends also, though, and that you might take treats. Oh wait, you ALWAYS do that. (grin)

dcarch, LOL Oh yes, I do have a long wait for that. I'm enjoying life as much and when I can. I don't know why but I feel happier when I'm around with close friends and my theatre family. I don't get much company, so those moments spent with friends are worth the wait :-).

Annie, that's okay! LOL, you're right, I always take treats to share. Although, next week, I won't see them until after my birthday. There still will be some kind of treats, though.
