i recieved a RAK today!

Annie1992 sent me a package today that contained a bag of masa to make corn tortillas. The pckage also contained candy for the kids and......Pancake syrup! The kids and I love "fake" syrup for our pancakes but it is not available here so Annie sent some in the package. It probably hurt her soul that it wasn't maple syrup but it sure made us all happy tonight. LOL

Lisa, you are right, it did hurt to buy Mrs. Butterworth's and Log Cabin, LOL. Even Sandy, the friendly clerk at the local grocery scanned those bottles and said "Are the kids visiting? I know YOU don't eat this stuff." LOL

Enjoy it all, and I hope to see that you've made homemade tortillas soon. I roll mine out by hand between sheets of plastic wrap because I like them thinner than the tortilla press made them.

The kids would probably love to help you roll them out! Kids are helpful like that. (grin)

Lisa, how lovely to get a package from Annie from Michigan. I know you and your family will enjoy all of it. Can't wait to hear how the tortillas come out. I've never made them either.

I've always been impressed with their packaging. Yellow band? Possibly prolonged moisture from the bark and bleaching from lack of light to that area. Maybe planted a little too deep. I noticed mine the other day were quite moist and that the shaved bark was like a sponge. Both have so far weathered the transplant without any noticeable distress. In fact the limbs on the oro are sprouting new leaves. Good luck! Rob

I've never seen a knockout standard! It's kind of cute! I have Lamarque, planted a year and a half ago. It is a more mannerly climber so far. She is blooming now as a matter of fact. Climbing pinkie is on my lust list. I have a little climber which is a polyantha named Jean Lajoy, - they seem somewhat similar in photos I have seen. Enjoy your roses. I started with a gifted miniature grocery store rose, and from there the addiction spread. I have MANY roses now!! I plant my roses about 1' from an open fence. I have never planted one on a solid fence. I clip off the back canes if need be (you may not need to) to fan them out. Then I peg them in a fan shape if I can. Some of my roses came with a single cane. I let them go the first year, the 2nd year I cut them to the quick and let them come back with many new canes. This really helped them look fuller faster, and I could prune and train the soft new canes more easily. You will soon learn what works best for you. One of the great things about growing roses in the South is that they do grow quickly. If you are not happy with your pruning, you can cut them back and let them start all over again! GGG

OrganicAdam: We are not ignoring you. Just most of us have red wiggler (I do not actually know what I have.) worms and not African night crawlers. Thus not a lot of us have a back ground sufficient enough to reply to your very nice post. You are into specialty composting worms. Maybe you are this websites resident expert on the topic. Perhaps some aspects of the various worms have some things in common to chat about. Maybe post a bit about your experience with the worms and we will have something similar to chime in on.

Thanks for the input fellas, also i ordered one pound of African night crawlers from best buy worms and it will be shipped today. So I will post a review when I receive them. Just so you all know I did write both worm suppliers before I ordered to see if they weigh the worms without the bedding, to make sure I get what I pay for. They both emailed me back rather quickly an were quite sociable. the ANC are suppose to eat 1.5x's their body weight a day an reproduce faster then red wigglers. So I figure one pound should be enough to start indoors.

Wow, I did a RAK and I didn't even know it! LOL

Much like the rest of my life where I just go ahead and do stuff, not really knowing what I'm doing. (grin)

When Lisa said she couldn't get masa in Germany, I thought it was just wrong. (grin) If she wants to make homemade tortillas, she should be able to. Yeah, masa harina equality in the world!!
