I know some of you aren't big fans of Pinterest but for someone like me who likes to see recipes/ideas it's great! Saw a super duper cute cake a few weeks ago and decided I had to make it! Had some girls from church over to help and here's how it turned out. Pigs in the mud cake:)

but, that is just too stinkin' CUTE!

Very cute!
I was charged with bringing an outrageous dessert to our between game cookout. I have to thank Pinetrest for my "dessert for a group". It was a winner according to my ball players--Butterfinger No-bake Cake.

Thanks SOOO much for posting the pic, and for your replies. Yes, it is PB. Looks like a dark glaze over the paint to antique it a bit. I know if I print this pic to take to the paint store for a match, it won't look the same. Maybe I'll just drag my laptop in.........they smile and nod every time I walk in the paint store door anyway! I will try to contact PB and see if they will divulge their secret color! I have a desk that I plan to paint for my craft-loft....the walls will be a very , very light orchid. thanks again!

Thanks everyone! It was actually a fun project and not difficult at all. I didn't realize how poor the pictures were until I saw them on my PC this morning :-) I posted them from my phone yesterday. I'll have to take some better photos that show the details a little better. Sorry, I don't have a link to specific instructions. I just saw the pictures on Pinterest, and then kind of made it up as we went along. Shee- yes, the heads are wooden beads. I just put a little glue in the hole, and they usually fit right on the poky parts (that's a technical term, ha ha) on the top of the pine cone. Dee- For the hats, I just cut tall skinny triangles and made sure the bottom of the triangle would fit around the wooden beads. Then I whipstitched the edges together by hand and put the little bell on the end. I didn't even glue the arms and legs. They are fuzzy chenille pipe cleaners, and I just wound them through the spaces in the pine cone and twisted them in the front, and they were secure enough. I did glue the little scarves together in the front. My DS had a great time doing the owls. We just cut a bunch of little circles and triangles in different colors, and he glued them together however he wanted, with buttons in the center. We cut bigger triangles for the wings. The ones he did are very cute, and I think I'll make a few more with the colors I want for myself. The most time consuming and annoying part for him was trying to cut perfect circles out of felt. I think I may try doing some with paper, so I can use a 1" circle paper punch. It would be way easier.

We're in the process of building our home. I would be as specific as you can with everyone you work with, which goes hand in hand with being present at your build site as much as possible. Also, try to decide on as many things as you can upfront. That way, if you want more expensive items like the metal roof, then you can budget for them. There's a lot of give and take budgeting for your build. We went with hardiplank and a metal roof. The metal roof was double a standard shingle roof, but I would do it again and again. It's exactly what we wanted. Though you need to find an experienced installer and go check their work at some other sites. Best of luck!!

Tracey, I'm not wild about Pinterest either, I'm too impatient, but that is just too cute, my grandkids would love it too!

Thanks guys! Full disclosure on Pinterest, I have had some total recipe DUDS from there so now I mainly use it for inspiration and ideas unless I am familiar with the site the recipe came from.

I agree, the Butterfinger cake sounds great!

Annie, I bet your grandkids could handle making this. The girls helping me were 13, 11, and 6 and they did great. It's just a layer cake with chocolate frosting on the sides and ganache on the top. I made the fondant for the pigs the day before.

Tracey, I thought that looked like a layer cake, surrounded by KitKat candy bars. I do like that little pig with the tummy up out of the mud, LOL.

I think that idea could easily become a baby in a bubble bath, or some ducks in a pond or a redneck hot tub...

It was quick to make. Here are the adjustments I made:
doubled the recipe
used Reeses Peanut Butter wafers
doubled the layers
topped with Butterfinger crumbles
made it in a 16" loaf pan
served it on a gallery tray

I think mine looked better than the one pictured on Pinetrest but I was happy for the last minute dessert for a crowd idea.

The sweet freaks loved it.

Tracy, that is a cute cake for kids. I've seen many good ideas on Pinterest for kids. It's one way to get kids interested in cooking.

There are many people on Pinterest who have one of their boards devoted to kids, grand kids, etc. I just did a quick search for some and it looks like there are thousands.

Annie, get with it GF!!!! Just this morning, Kim and I were trying to think of something different to make with chicken for dinner tonight. We looked at over 200 pins for chicken in a very short time, checked out a few recipes and found something we both agreed on. I don't think it took more than 10 minutes. It would take hours to look at the many ideas in cookbooks. We both like the visual speed.

Nancy, I just don't like it. I see a picture, but there's never a recipe until I click four or five links, and go to blogs that I don't care about and read countless paragraphs of information bout people I don't know that I'm not interested in.

It's one of those things that I've tried to like. Ashley loves it, gets craft ideas on it. Elery likes it. I just don't like it, don't find it user friendly and can't find anything specific that I'm looking for. (shrug)

Of course, I also just detest Facebook..

One trick I've learned, is to find a pic/description I like the looks of, and then if the clicking to get to the recipe is too onerous, I just google the name of the recipe - it often takes you to the original recipe. Then I pin THAT source or bookmark it into my recipe file.

That pig cake is adorable!

A very good friend has many pigs bakes a lot.

Annie, I hear you on the Pinterest thing. I hate when I click on a pin and there's nothing there or it's just an ad so like Olychick I make sure and track down the original source if I pin something.

Thanks for passing on the pictures Dcarch! I'm glad your friends got a kick out of it. Like I said, it was one of the cutest cakes I'd seen in a long time so I had to try it!

My biggest Pinterest problem is my anti-virus software hates it. If I spend, as example, an hour fussing around clicking on all the pictures...you can bet I'll get the, "OOPS, are you SURE you want to go there?" screen at least 3-4 times. I hate viruses, therefore, I hate Pinterest. I use McAfee.

On an earlier thread, I said how great Thumbnail Zoom Plus is for Pinterest. It's a Firefox add-on that makes small pictures bigger. With it, I cruised over all those Pinterest thumbnails and could actually see them well without clicking. But a little while ago it stopped working. I emailed the developer and he said Pinterest had made some changes, but he was going to fix it. And now he has!
So if you upload the latest version (for some reason this did not happen automatically for me) it will greatly improve Pinterest and many other sites.

Thank you CC... I tried the Firefox add-on when you mentioned it on the other thread...it's wonderful and works on some (not all) of the other sites I visit.

Yesterday Pinterest rolled out their new setup. Seems to work just fine and has some neat features.
