I have many pots planted with multiple bulbs... it's a great space saver! I've got 3 Red Lions in a painted Mexican pottery bowl, and all of my other tender amaryllids that I got in multiples are potted up together. Rain Lilies, Peruvian Daffodils, Rhodophiala, Belladonna, Lycoris, Crinum... you name it! If there is more than one, they room together! Kristi, I've done my time with birds... I love them, but they're a lot of work! They're noisy, messy, and more than my current budget could handle! Feeding 3 dogs costs more than enough, and it's about as much as I can physically handle! At one point in time, I had a Congo African Grey, a Cockatiel, a Peachfaced Lovebird, a batch of tiny gray Finches that wouldn't stop laying eggs, and a colorful Ringnecked Something-Or-Other... I forget. Even with all those birds, I wanted to get a large Yellow Nape and a pair of Budgies, but we also had 3 dogs, a cat, and went out of town frequently on business. I ended up selling the whole kit and kaboodle... all the birds, that is, with cages and equipment... to a lady who lived in an aviary. I swear, her entire house was nothing but birds! She loved them! Hand raised birds are the best... I wish you lots of luck with your little clutches! And please, we need pictures! Baby birdies are so cool!

I don't know those species of fern, but when it comes to general informtion I'm not surprised it can be so variable. Take Acrostichum speciosum as a example, if you gave it a big dose of fertiliser it would laugh it off. It's a mangrove fern that grows in brackish/saline water habitats. It's evolved in a high nutrient environment so copes reasonably well with chemical imputs. Other end of the scale are the rainforest epiphytes growing on tree trunks where all they get is decomposing vegetation that's well watered down by the frequent rain. They'd curl up their toes in all but the very weakest fertiliser. Generally with ferns, all you can say is to be very sparing with the fertiliser but very generous with water. Of course drainage capacity of their growing media is another story. But as a generalisation the faster draining the better whilst always maintaining dampness.

Thanks for posting the contest winners. Such creativity and imagination! I live in PeepLand because our valley is the home of Just Born Candies, creator and manufacturer of Peeps. They sponsor a PeepFest during the week between Christmas and New Year's. There is a Peep diorama contest for elementary school classes and the winning projects are on display. This was a first grade one: The PeepMobile puts in an appearance. Outdoor activities include toasting Peeps for Peep S'mores. Massive Peep sculptures: And a giant lighted Peep who descends from the building at midnight during a family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration. Lol, I have heard that, that's why I'm starting now instead of waiting till I am in a bigger house, and only keeping the best of each plant. I'm also going to put them under grow lights through winter. These are Kukiat seeds, so I'm hoping they are more robust and produce flowers before I die, haha. I'm actually trying to create a true blue with cross-pollination, the ones that bloom the soonest will be candidates (the rest I'll rehome). If I get a good blue, then I'll share cuttings to spread it around and make it immortal. =)

Oh I forgot about this! So glad you posted. People are so clever. All I can think to do with them is put them in the MW and watch them grow into monsters before they explode.

Peeps stoned on vodka though, that seems wrong in so many ways, LOL.

Hahaha. They are just delightful. I can't pick my favorite. It might have been PeepsCasso, or the Peeps Processing Plant, or Be Peepared. But I think the assassination of Osama Peep Laden may have been going a bit too far.

What a fun way to start the day before Easter by taking some time to view all those terrific peep-a-ramas. Thanks so much for posting them. I particularly liked the roller derby and Peepton Abbey ones.

JustBorn, who makes the Peeps brand candies is located in our valley so we get a lot of Peeps exposure, including a PeepFest for a few days each year between Christmas and New Years'. Here are some pix of the event.

They have a diorama contest for elementary school classrooms and the winning entries are featured. I could only get close enough to photograph a few runners up.

Fires are kept burning in oil drums outdoors so kids can roast peeps to make peep s'mores and many other peepy activities.
This lighted peep's cage will drop at midnight on New Years' Eve.

Here is a two-story-high tree made from thousands of peeps.

Although I didn't get to dance with one of the live peeps or ride in the Peepmobile, I did get to play with this big one.

Love the dioramas. That vodka looks pretty good too, since I don't think I'd object to a sweet vodka.

Ruthanna, those look fun. Living in NJ, I'm pretty familiar with Just Born. A friend moved to the area a year or so ago and works down the road from the factory. Recently she found out that her husband thought the Just Born factory was a baby hospital. Lmao.

I'm a little mad at myself. Every year I usually take one or two packs of peeps and put some holes in the wrapper and tuck away for the following year. It used to be a tradition over on the Garden Party, to 'age' peeps. I do prefer them crispy. Smiles. Somehow they got missed last year so I'll be stuck with fresh or will have to do a quick age. No wrapper, back of frige for a couple weeks.
