I'd like to make this recipe for muffins, but don't have wheat bran (or oat bran) on hand and would prefer not to make a special trip to the store. I do have wheat germ but am not sure if that would work since it calls for 1 cup. Any suggestions on substitutions? Thanks!

I think you will be fine subbing 1/2 cup wheat germ and 1/2 cup extra whole wheat flour for the wheat bran.... That's a pretty forgiving recipe. Linda C

Linda, thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep it on file. My SO surprised me and went shopping. He returned with 3 bags of wheat bran...said he didn't know how much I needed! He's a keeper!
