Question on flours

I'm on a cleanse and trying to stay gluten free for awhile. I want to fry up some fish tonight. Usually I dredge it in seasoned flour first....I have chick pea flour and flax seed meal on hand. Are either of those acceptable substitutes for wheat flour?
