Cheese cake bases

I was lucky enough to win a book on a radio quizz called "Cheesecakes comme a New York".
The problem is that the bases always come out nasty and soggy. What recipe do you use for either sweet or savoury bases?
One example of a sweet base is 70g butter mixed with 200g speculoos biscuits. These are baked cheese cakes.
