I Just Can't Wait For Vermicastings
Comments (9)Would it be better to have 1/4 inch holes through out the sieve? I have not found one for sale. Maybe drill the other holes bigger? Double sieving like you did would seem better than trying to do it all at once. "returned a fair amount of castings that did not break loose from the bedding" Luckily we have abundant enough material to do that with. It can't hurt anything. It may help a great deal with the new material. Sort of a bit of the dog that bit ya. "build a flow thru" We are finding that although wonderfully fantastic and eating a lot of material a flow thru does not have layers of doneness as we would expect but simply not done yet on top and evenly done is all the rest, with all the prime food eaten. So it might not help with the sieving. In the olden days I remember gardeners brewing with animal manure. And I almost remember gardeners brewing with regular compost. Anybody else can remember way back when? I would like 1/4 inch sieve just to see the beautiful castings but don't think I need it for growing seedlings. And no sieve has appeared, but I keep looking....See MoreI just can't decide what to do.....
Comments (18)Well ladies, let me tell you some of my secrets...before my DH and I got married his mother did EVERYTHING for him, made all his meals, snacks, etc...I mean the man couldn't even pour himself a glass of milk...his mom would shoo him away and do it for him. He would take his dirty clothes off to shower and by the time he was done his mom had already picked all of them up and she was waiting to take care of his wet towel. Well, the first time he showered after we were married and left his stuff all over the bed and floor I informed him that I was his wife, not mother, and I would NOT be picking up after him. If he wanted to have someone pick up after him, he could move back home with his mom. It worked, he's never left wet towels or dirty clothes laying around. LOL As far as kids go, it's a lot easier to train them when they are little. Our last house was a ranch and since I would pass by their rooms all the time they had to keep them neat. My DD would complain all the time when she was young that she couldn't wait until she moved out so she could keep her mess out all over the place. She did keep her locker at school messy. When she moved to the dorm and had a messy roommate she discovered that she really did like having things neat and clutter-free! My DS was a little harder to train though...so I allowed him to have a "junk" drawer in his room and maybe 2 or 3 times a year I would make him clean it out. Now we live in a colonial and once I wake up in the morning, shower and dress I don't see their rooms cause I'm on the main floor or in the basement so a mess wouldn't bother me now but I have them trained so well that they still keep things neat and clutter free!!!! Sneaky huh? Sorry, it is harder for you Maria because they are already set in their ways, it will be hard to make them see the light and start keeping things clean! WHAT I CAN DO FOR SOMEONE IS....take pics of your mess and post it to photobucket or something like that, then send an e-mail to me with your link, and I will take a look at them and make some suggestions about how you could organize it. E-mail: OneBigDave@sbcglobal.net Of course, if you live close enough, I could come see you! Barb...See MoreYa Just Can't Make this Stuff Up!!

Comments (12)Lol. Well there are some nurseries I frequent that I don't care, others I feel like I should at least look half way decent. I had to sort through the packs of allysum, some only had two plants when they were suppose to have three (which is why I ran out in the first place). I casually mentioned it to one of the clerks and he just laughed and said, "Yeah I find that sometimes too". duh. I was kinda hoping he'd give me a break on the price even tho it was only $.99 to begin with. This particular nursery hardly ever has sales and usually has lots of plants, trees, and shrubs left at the end of the season. I don't understand how they make a go of it unless most of their business is to landscapers. Bought a bag of mulch too. Normally I use my shredded leaf mulch but for some reason I thought the bark mulch might keep the moisture in better. It's triple shredded, pretty nice stuff actually. Not many wood slivers. I use it in the edging around my boxwood hedge borders. Which is another job that should be done soon....See Morebbstx
