I like the overall idea in that it can be used in the oven. I've looked for an in-oven rotisserie. (Not part of the oven, obviously.) Perhaps I didn't look hard enough, but I was surprised that I couldn't find one. Pretty it up a bit and I'd place an order!

FOAS, as I said, rotisserie makes the best roasted anything. The problem is ovens with rotisserie are very expensive and all rotisseries have a fixed position relative to the heat source, they are not adjustable which makes it not ideal for cooking.

As you know, it is a pain to broil a chicken in you oven. You need to keep turning the bird and it still can;t be cooked evenly.

This contraption is to solve those problems. It is working out very nicely. Roasting a chicken in front of a fire place makes a very memorable dinner for invited friends.

One of the few roasted chickens I have tried out, this one is yuzu flavored with my favorite sides, i.e. wild rice with chestnuts, wild rice stems and golden cauliflower.

Yes, wild rice stem is a vegetable you can get in Asian stores. Tastes like asparagus with a nutty aroma.

FOAS, a couple of years ago I bought a Capital Culinarian. One of the selling points was that the oven included a rotisserie. I have used it a few times, and find that it makes such a godawful mess, and you have to clean the oven far more times than if you didn't have a rotisserie.

And to make it even less desirable, a Sam's Club opened up a few miles from me and they make delicious rotisserie chicken for less than I can buy raw chicken.

If I were to do it again, I wouldn't bother with an in-oven rotisserie. Might consider a standalone, or a set-up like dcarch has made.

Oh, BTW, I'm still waiting on a part to finish my sous vide setup. Will post when done.

One day little Dc was put down on the carpet with some blocks. Did he try to stack them on top of each other? No - he started to think of ways to make them move on their own......

Off in the corner of the room was an upright vacuum...... but to little Dc it was a endless supply of parts and possibilities.......

The first thing that came to mind was rotisseried corned beef when it's used as a loss leader in early March.

Arley, The one I roasted in the oven had very little splatter, in anycase, my is a self-cleaning oven.

Teresa, I was a very destructive kid, There was not a working clock in the house, not a vacuum cleaner, not a record player ---- anything that moved or made a sound I just had to take it apart to see what was inside.

Ruthanna, rotisserie corned beef, now that does sound great!

"Very destructive"? Why?? I should think a destructive child would smash things, not take them apart to see what's inside.

If i had a child like that, I'd go out and BUY him things to take apart. Sounds to me like a child full of healthy curiosity and potential - not destructive by any stretch of the imagination.

I would remove one of the brass tubes which held down the carpet strip on the stairs, inserted a marble from one end, and a firecracker from the other end. BANG! a neighbor's flower pot from across the street would be in pieces.

I would roll up a small strip of paper, folded it like an upside down "V", dip that in ink. With a rubber band and shot the "V" across the backyard to neighbor's drying white sheets on the clothes line.

I recently heard a similar story involving (if I remember correctly) a door handle stuffed with sulphur from matchheads for an improvised explosive device that was used in the classroom. The kid who done that at 9 YO ended up a top notch construction engineer.

Matchheads?

Simple fun trick.

Wrap a stick match with aluminum foil, rest the match on something and heat it with another lit match.

It will take off like a small rocket.

Explosive device?

Empty lots of powder from firecrackers into a jar. Crack a small light bulb and make sure the filament is not broken. Insert the bulb in the jar of gun powder and wire up with a long wire. Go to a stream and lower the jar into the water, throw some food scraps and bread crumbs into the water and wait about 15 minutes.

Using a battery to set the explosion, and collect all the stunned fish that flow up on the water.
