Your deck has ROOTS??? At least it wont blow away in the wind! Why donÂt you just take the roof down if you donÂt like the view? Then you wouldnÂt need to rake your roof when it snows. But IÂd say if you werenÂt injured very much when you fell down, maybe your bricks were more holy than holey! Glad your "personal megaflood" probably wonÂt do too much to contribute to another REAL megaflood! We wouldnÂt want you to get washed away to the sea! I wish theyÂd broadcast that show again. IÂd love to see it from the beginning. I just reread your post on the original thread and your comment about the guy who originally posited the flood theory being disbelieved. I remember when I was in 5th grade and the teacher was telling us that it didnÂt matter how much the continents looked like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle on a world map, that thatÂs how the earth had been created and that there was nothing at all to any theory that the Eastern and Western hemispheres had ever been connected. I just sat there and kept looking at the map in my book and thinking that what he was saying didnÂt make ANY sense at allÂbut I wasnÂt about to argue with my PAROCHIAL school teacher! The theory of plate tectonics, of course, was unknown at that time. And then thereÂs the recent "discovery" of another VERY old factÂthat the earthÂs magnetic field reverses. Bet you didnÂt know weÂre really all living an a great big chocolate covered cherry! And doesnÂt it make you wonder how many other HUGE things there are that we havenÂt figured out yet! And why are we so loath to at least seriously consider such theories when theyÂre put forward by educated people! As recently as 1989 the doctor who proposed the theory that stomach ulcers were caused by bacteria was ridiculed. At least he got the last laughÂwhen he won a Nobel Prize in Â05! What does this all have to do with gardening? Beats me! I guess Digit would have some trouble gardeningÂor breathingÂif another Megaflood ever hit that area. But since another Megaflood is somewhat unlikelyÂeven with DigitÂs water contribution, IÂm more intimidated by the specter of the Yellowstone Super Volcano! Only the street is clear still cant see the walkway in front of the house and nowthe snow has drifted up to half of the car tires. no problem with food in the house Just want the elec to stay on. I don't think we'll get any more fresh stuff but going into the teens during tonight It is beautiful to look at. wonder if the mailman will get thru and if I really want to check the mail anyway!!

I have family in Cape May County New Jersey, the very southern tip of the state. My SIL just facebooked that in Avalon ( barrier island) on the ocean side they are having an ice storm after some snow, just a few miles inland my daughter has lots of snow, Fall 2009 will be long remembered, Nov.13 island was flooded along with severe costal beach erosion now snow and ice storm. Sue who's glad she stayed in DE this fall.

Lots of snow and cold temps for some of you already! We're expecting snow on Wed, and our ground is frozen solid already. I don't know why that surprises me every year. :-) I'm attempting some fall clean up so I have less to do in spring. I usually do everything by hand, but this has been my year of learning to use some power tools. I'm finding hedge trimmers are good for cutting down perennials quickly. ....one goof when I hit a mini rose covered by sprawling helianthus. I'm not cleaning up hosta leaves or pulling out the flower stalks. The leaves are easy to rake in spring and the stalks are good markers for where the hostas are. Maybe some hosta seedlings if I get lucky!
