| Has anyone boiled a large volume of water for canning and such on an old wood cook stove?
Just wonder if it gets hot enough for this. |

| I have. And pressure canning, though it's been a long time. Definitely the stove does get hot enough. It's a matter of where you position the canner on the top and how you build and maintain the fire (managing the draft, etc.) You might want to do a practice run or two with just water to learn your stove. LOL, what do you think all those rural women did before they got electricity??? The other option is outdoors on a propane burner, but you do have to shield the flame. Carol |

| I agree, I have too. In addition to Carol's post, I'll point out that there are hotter spots in places on woodstoves, find those hot spots and you won't have any problem at all boiling water! Annie |
