I finally got the rest of those pictures downloaded. We'll start with my favorite, one of Elery at "The Pinnacle".

These pictures were taken at his BIL's farm, I couldn't resist the picture of the cows in their "swimming pool", LOL

My Grandmother's maiden name was Powell, so I took this picture for Mom, we visited "Powell's Valley".

His sister decided that since I like Michigan's lakes and rivers so well, I should visit some of theirs. this dam was a TVA project:

The lake created by that dam stretches for miles, it's long and narrow, lots of campgrounds, swimming places and boat docks all along it.

This was just a cool rock formation I saw somewhere along the way, LOL

That's the end of my pictures. I did take one of a couple of horses who lived in a mobile home-turned barn but it didn't turn out and I got a couple out of the car window that were equally bad. It was a beautiful place, in spite of the fact that it was nearly 100F every day! I did see the inside of lots of air conditioned places, but I didn't want to freak out his family by taking pictures of food. (grin)

Hi Annie,

So glad you posted pictures. Beautiful scenes, and love the rock formation too. I must say Elery makes a fine looking picture too..Glad you had a great time. Also glad he treats you like a queen cause you so deserve it.

Annie despite the heat it still looks like you had a dream vacation with a very dreamy man! LOL.

I love the high views looking over the misty mountains.

What a tranquil, lovely spot you found to make home, dulcimerduo! Your totem is very pretty. I love how you incorporated the round pieces. I always think it is fun when people put a figurine underneath a bigger glass piece. Definitely gives the totems more character! Like the rest of the folks, I just love George! I'm glad he managed to fit in your Honda Civic! Only a Garden Junker would be so determined to fit something that size in a small car. he-he I can't wait to see pictures of your new and improved pond too! Here's a funny observation ... I was looking at the picture of your pond and I was wondering about the little gnome standing on the branch of the tree ... that was until I realized it was your DH pushing a wheelbarrow in the background! lol! Years ago, in one of my magazines, they had an article of how someone totally enclosed a mobile home to make it look like a cute cabin. It was located on a lake and they made a screened porch along the whole front of it. Looking at the finished enclosure, you would never know there was a mobile home under it! I could kick myself for not keeping the article. It looks like you have a similar idea! Please keep the pictures coming!

Hi Scott. I'm happy for you that you got blooms. They are nice. Sorry to hear about the ants. Bugs are happening to alot of us right now. Mike started a thread on how do we each handle our bug problem. Hopefully many will reply and I can learn whats best to get rid of mine. I saw in your profile that your b-day was oct. 16th. Happy late Birthday. Yes ,I thought you were female. I set up hubbies account, then he had his stoke and he can't type, so I use it. I like your pics. Lonny (hubby) likes doubles, I like singles. I think they are prettier, I like the big blooms.Simpler and easyier to take care of. At least in my oppinion. Share all the pics you like. :) Kim

I don't live in Nashville, but we visit quite a bit and I have done some consultation & design work there. Stink bugs are no big deal as louisianagal says. Kudzu bugs are on their way, they pose a slightly different problem (and are a stink bug) but attack legumes. Hopefully there will be natural controls in site really soon. No Spanish Moss Growing roses in Nashville is just like growing roses in Atlanta. Many of the same varieties work well, and you'll see lovely roses in many beautiful gardens around the city. In Nashville you can garden 12 months a year if you'd like. You can do winter vegetable gardens easily, especially with covers so you can be prepared for the super cold snaps if we have them (like an ice storm). Certain garden practices are carried out in the area that help with climate such as controlling soil moisture: heavy mulches which help with freezing and evaporation due to heat. The summer is HOT and HUMID, but the mornings and evenings are quite glorious, and you get the wonderful "southern scents" and sounds of cicadas that remind you of why you are here. Nashville is a fun city. If you are thinking about living there you should try and go for a visit if you can. We spend most of our time not at the tourist attractions but hanging out around the city with friends and going to some of the really great funky places they have to eat and hang out. If you prefer, there are also really nice smaller towns close by with a more rural feel, or "suburb towns" such as Murfreesboro - all which offer their own special something but gardening is all the same!

Clumps are fine as long as they'll make it home in good condition. I've brought unpotted clumps of things like Crocosmias before. I think I wrapped the clumps of roots up in newspaper. I have even seen people bring bare-rooted stuff before, but I'm personally a little leery of trading for bare-rooted stuff that time of year. Just keep in mind that the stuff needs to be able to hold up under quite a bit of heat for at least half a day. Many people may also not be able to get everything planted as soon as they get home. The pictures on the website may "sugarcoat" the appearance of the "average" stuff found at plantswaps, because neatly planted stuff makes better pictures (-: You'll probably find a broad range of things at plants swaps, from relatively small seedlings to large mature potted plants, and from bare-rooted stuff or newly planted things to things that are about to outgrow their pots.

Tennessee looks so cool and green. Was it that hot up in the mountains?

Those are great pictures of a wonderful guy and beautiful scenery too. I didn't know cows could swim.

I am so glad I wandered over here this morning! I was so excited to see pictures from your vacation - you would think we actually knew each other in real life!

Lovely, lovely photos. On the other thread too.

We recently went on a tour of a large dam in Ohio. My kids' favorite part was constantly saying "I like this dam tour" or "can we go to the dam gift shop?" or "where's the dam waitress from the dam restaurant" or, well, you get the picture.

LOL, AM, we DO know each other!

My Aunt LulaBelle has been married 5 times, her 4th husband's last name was Sutter. They lived on a small lake with a beaver dam on their frontage. Her sign said "Sutter's by a Dam Site". Your kids would have loved it!

Oh, and I think our next trip will be to Chicago Christmas shopping, after that, perhaps, California to visit his newly adopted grandson.

AM, I've already told her about Lucy, and her nickname, "Lulubelle". She's just tickled, although she hates to be called LulaBella and wants everyone to call her "Midge". She's a character, all right!

And I'm tickled to death to know everyone here too. Just because we haven't met face to face doesn't mean we don't know each other. Some of my best friends I haven't even seen!
