Thought it only right that you should all get a get a kick out of Rte 66 !!! Thanks to all those who made the trip so very special!

The very first day as "himself" and I set out on our adventure. May 2nd, 2009...

Not quite on Rte 66 yet but our first meet up was in Grand Rapids. Sherry, Roger, Annie and us. Great time had by all!

The Rte 66 adventure started in Chicago. This is the legendary start to Rte 66. Great food and the first of many wonderful diners we ate in.

...and a wonderful hook up with Peppi and her Dad. First a stop at Peppi's lovely home and then off to a great German restaurant.

St Louis is next ! Here is Wendy and I doing our Thelma and Louise act.

We had some great BBQ first and then Wendy took us to a very famous , original Rte 66 pit stop. Frozen custard! So, so bad but oh so good!

Onward to Oklahoma and a great visit with the "Big Guy". What a host! Took us for some great BBQ ( I refuse to say which is better, OK or St Louis...) he even got Clive into Church!

We stayed at so many great original Rte 66 motels.

Others we passed on !

This one was amazing...a garage with every room!

Here is me making some new biker friends....or maybe it was Clive's Crown Royal that attracted them! LOL

Then there were the diners! Some fabulous food and oh so cheap!

and of course the gas station and Rte 66 itself!

And everyone need to "Stand on a Corner in Winslow Arizona" at least once in their life !

But all things must come to and end!!!

Not true!!!! Our adventure didn't end there!!! ....the LA gang!

and the wonderful folk from Texas!!!

.....last but not least Karen and Charles!

Thanks to you all! It was a blast!

What a great adventure. I'm so happy I got to meet you and the Texas bunch, Brenda and May. Our little trip down to San Antonio was so fun, with the highlight meeting everyone. Thanks for posting your pics. I still need to get mine posted. I've been remiss. But they look pretty much like yours and Brenda's. lol.

I always swore I would take the same trip some day. However, I wrecked my convertible some years ago, (totalled it, actually), and I guess I just lost interest in the trip. But your pix make me rethink that. It was wonderful to meet you, Sharon and Clive. What fond memories you nust have.

Oh wonderful! Glad you had such a good time! And how lucky that you met so many CF'rs (that sounds bad!) I know EJ has met a number of CF'rs-did you beat her record?

What a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing it and I'm sure you know how bummed I was that I had to miss the first get together. Somehow.....someday...it will happen!

We loved meeting you too!! Thanks for sharing your photos! Who knew that there was a Route 66 sign in Santa Monica? I'm a native and don't recall ever seeing it or at least paying attention to one!

 o
RE: Route 66 meets the Cooking Forum!Travelougue

It surely was a blast!

Nope Di I don't hold the record for CF' meet ups. As of this trip I have net 20 wonderful folk from the CF but I think there are several others who have met more,

BUT!!!

I do hold one CF record that no one has topped. I am the only one who has cooked dinner for Ann T !! Talk about pressure......but they were the most gracious and easiest of any company I've ever had.

 o
RE: Route 66 meets the Cooking Forum!Travelougue

Cooking for Ann T....don't think I'd attempt that no matter how gracious! Do tell, what did you make?

Di

 o
RE: Route 66 meets the Cooking Forum!Travelougue

You're right, Sharon, I've met 24 people from the forum, but I've never cooked for Ann T.

I know just what I'd make, though. Grass fed beef, extremely rare!

oh what a great pictorial!!!! I especially love the pic of the gas station, route 66 and THE CAR!

Stacy (Annie, you can make that for me, to0...:-) or that salmon you guys just had...or some of your home canned stuff...or - or - or - you get the picture!)

 o
RE: Route 66 meets the Cooking Forum!Travelougue

Sharon, your pictures are just wonderful. I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip and had such fun meeting you!

 o
RE: Route 66 meets the Cooking Forum!Travelougue

Stacy, I'd cook for you any time. I might even fish first, just to make sure you had the freshest salmon you ever ate.

What fun!! I used to travel for 5 weeks every summer with my boys in our RV, ahhhh the memories! You'll be talking about it for ages, now where are you heading next???

I'm sorry that I missed you in Louisiana. I think Karen was going to email me, but it wound up that I was in Virginia that week anyway. I would have loved to have met you and shown you around our corner of the state!

I just finally got a chance to look at these. Great photos, Sharon! Looks like you all had such a great time!

Love that police car....my dad had a Mercury like that when I was a young kid.

Thanks for sharing your memories!
