Stetson, Monty, Abby and Beau.........

Stetson, Monty and Beau enjoying each other's company. Abby was just outside the gate and in her "come and get me" mode. She runs a few feet a way and then

for me to come and pick her up.

These are before pictures. I left them all at the groomers this morning. They were in need of summer cuts. I'll post some after pictures when I pick them up later this afternoon.

Stetson and Beau grew up together. Both are 12 years old.

I don't know how I missed this, but I just saw it today. How wonderful to receive original art - and it's so beautifully framed. I also love the trivet - very clever design. I may have to get one of those fish turners myself - that looks extremely practical. I'm not really familiar with chestnuts - I'm not sure I've ever had any, other than water chestnuts. Oh Linda, Sadie is just adorable. What a face. I hope that Sadie and Maggie become friends and that Sadie will take over Bessie's job of looking out for Maggie. Cat Pooping in House OH NO!

I fought that problem for 3 years, pooping on carpet only. Always urinated in litter box. It was everything to do with the other cat. The poop cat was the dominant cat. I studied, fought, and tested this problem for so long I was able to predict when the pooping would start again. If the poop cat constantly feared me, and I would yell and get onto her EVERYTIME she wanted to express her dominance by getting into the other cats business, she would NEVER poop on the floor. This would be the case for months if I continued the mean streak with her. I wouldn't let her think for a second she had control of the house or the other cat. Now guess what happens EVERYTIME I let the cats handle their own politics (poop cat bullies the other cat around the food/water bowl, etc.), and I back down and treat both cats equally? It's so predictable. Then and only then will the poop cat start laying her poop next to the water/food stations, and entrance to the cat litter room. Water and food is in multiple places and in different rooms from the litter boxes. She will place a nice load of crap inches from a fresh water/food bowl. Basically, as I back off and allow her to reclaim her dominant status, she starts laying her poop where the other cat has to travel. I have tried everything and talked to a couple Vets, had her checked, etc. Many people insist that cats do not claim territory with poop, but there is something very dominant related about what this poop cat is doing. It sucks but I have had enough. I can, as long as both cats are alive, become a permanent jerk to her, keep her nervous, have her fear to go near the older sub cat, and therefore keep a poop free carpet and home. Or I can be fair, nice and pleasant, stay out of cat politics, and have crap laid out on the floor. Lord knows I tried and this doesn't come easy, but it is time to get rid of her. In short, if you have tried everything you can think of and you know the cat is physically healthy, Sometimes (my opinion) this problem is just not fixable. Some combinations of cats living together (other animals also) just don't work. I'm no expert but I have consulted with a few, set up Internet video surveillance to observe things when I wasn't present, tried all the ideas you read about, basically been there and done it all. The combination of my two cats simply equals poop on the carpet. I'm sure I am not a unique situation.

Monty does always look stern, doesn't he?

As always, Stetson is handsome and very photogenic. Beau is also handsome, I don't see him very often. I really like the picture of Abby, though, with her chubby little fluffy feet up.

Oh no, not the summer cuts. Monty is going to be displeased with you, Ann.

Your pet's personalities certainly seem to come through when they are photographed! I love Beau's markings -- wow, what a pretty cat. Stetson is gorgeous. Monty is hysterical -- that picture of he and Stetson could win an award -- what an expression -- certainly only to get more surly when he visits the groomer?

oh Ann, those pics of that Monty just always make me crack up - that face. I called Will and he was giggling too. He's beautiful, with so much personality! They all are really. Beau looks like he's wearing eyeliner...

I missed Abby in the other thread, she's precious! I love her smoosh face-lol

Ann, is Stetson a Collie or Sheltie? ~ it's hard to judge his size in the pics. My folk's Sheltie was the size of a small collie, though. After Teddie got his summer haircut, he shrunk up ~ we use to laugh, as he looked like a totally different dog.

Ann as usual Monty just cracks me up! He alwasys looks so cranky! I know he is a lover baby but he just cracks me up!

Don't like to hear that Steson isn't doing to well, I didn't realize he was 12, he still looks like a pup!

Pauline, Stetson is a Sheltie. Not quite oversize, but bigger than the average sheltie.

Poor Monty really looks cranky, but he is just a big teddy bear. Loves to be picked up and cuddled and usually sleeps right up beside Moe's head on his pillow. And of the three of them, Monty is the "talker". He is very good at making letting you know what he wants. Especially at about 2:00 Am when he decides that he wants to go out side. The yard at this house was cat proofed by the original owners. Monty and Beau never leave the yard. Unfortunately,Abby is smarter than they are and she figured out how to get out of the yard within the first 15 minutes the first time she went out there.
