The Flower Girls (including Linsey!)

One of my activities last weekend, along with graduation, was the wedding of David's sister, DeAnne. Amanda and David both were in the wedding, along with Makayla. My "date" was little Bud.

The wedding included 5 little flower girls under the age of 4 and one 4 year old ringbearer. It was interesting. Bud slept through it but I got some pictures.

Here's our own little flower, Makayla. I have a picture that shows her real opinion of the proceedings, but I haven't downloaded that one yet.

Remember Linsey, the miracle child? She was the baby born with Down Syndrome and half a heart and the doctors said she would never survive. The prayer circle and well wishers here said otherwise and, lo and behold, Linsey made it to the wedding. She has just learned to walk and was a beautiful little flower girl.

Tommy was the ringbearer, accompanied by Makayla and her cousin Kaylynn. Kaylynn is 2 months older than Makayla and is the big sister of Linsey. Tommy is David's cousin. You'd think he'd be happier, surrounded by beautiful girls, LOL.

Amanda and David were attendants, and cleaned up pretty well, don't you think?

Of course, Bud was just waiting for the reception, where he got sips of orange soda and bites of cheesecake. Amazingly, he didn't seem to be adversely affected, and he loved the balloons.

The wedding was at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at 4:30. Being the party animal I am, I made it until about 6 p.m., when I took Bud and Makayla home while Amanda and David had a night out. They were out late, and didn't get home until nearly 11:30. LOL I guess we're all growing up and something about knowing you have small children that will be up at 7 a.m. makes you not want to stay out so much.

Well, I sniffed on the graduation thread and I sniffed here too, God Bless little Linsey.

Amanda, David, Makayla and Bud all look so beautiful, just a picture perfect family. Bud looks like a party animal, all right.

(I love those frilly socks :-)

Annie, you have a beautiful family! I love those red dresses, very nice! Those pix of the little "attendants" are just precious! And Bud is going to give you a run for your money when he gets old enough to party, I think! LOL

Hi, Chryss, Thanks for posting. Congratulations on your award. Yes, please post pix. Do your flowers have the greener color around the edges? So, did you get your Penang Girl from Chesterfield about 3 years ago, too? Am I understanding that this is the first time it's bloomed? Mine has only one spike and the one flower. Can't wait to see yours. People have said Flickr is an easy way to show pix. I use PhotoBucket and have had no problems. If you make your shots medium size, people w/ dial-up won't have to wait as long for them to load. Also, once the pix are sized, click on the HTML tag beneath the picture. It'll say "Copied," and you can go to your draft here and simply hit "Paste" in the Edit drop down, and all the gobbledy-gook will show up. When you preview your message before posting it, you'll see the picture. Glad to hear from you. Otherwise, we'd have to get Stitz to get your pictures and post them himself. :) Whitecat8

Here are some that I grow that might fit the bill. However, I can't say much about their blackspot resistance because that is only rarely seen in my area. Polly Sunshine. A VERY cheerful bright yellow little polyantha bred by Ralph Moore. Mine is growing in a pot and flowers a lot. Lots of petals, old fashioned look. Little scent. http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.23670.1&tab=36 Golden Border. Technically a floribunda but looks like a polyantha to me. Grows as a small, vase-shaped plant. Absolutely lovely mid to light yellow cupped flowers. Fragrant and nearly thornless. Prolific bloomer. Said to be disease resistant but it is new to the USA. Angel Gardens in Florida has recently imported it. Happy Child. A very pretty small Austin with intense yellow flowers. Excellent scent. No problems here, but my friend in Arkansas who has had it less than a year said it is highly susceptible to blackspot in her garden.:( http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.1877&tab=36 Cassie/Snowbelt. Really a wonderful little rose here. A polyantha. Flowers look white but actually open a very pale yellow and rapidly turn white. Tiny flowers scented of honey. Few thorns. A blooming fool! Mine flowers here 12 months of the year with next to no feeding. Bushy, with leaves and flowers all the way to the ground. I personally wouldn't want a flower girl looking like a bride either---I feel there needs to be a definite difference between the bride and the others. It's still personal choice. Plus, you want her to look the part and not like she's playing dress-up. I went to your link and thought the dress looked too much like a little bride too---beautiful little dress though! There were 2 or 3 other illustrations of that basic dress (without over skirt and gauntlets) to the left of the picture. My daughter chose a basic style like that for her flower girl---she didn't want anything too fussy. It was short sleeved (softly capped), plain round neckline, with a matching satin, wide ribbon sash that tied at the waist. She found it locally and the store ordered it. (I believe the brand was called "Little Angels") Now... she wanted her flower girl's dress to be the same color and fabric as her gown, but not to look like a little bride. She had first chosen a bridal gown of silk duchesse satin in ivory and was then very lucky to find what she had in mind for the little girl. She had decided early on that she wanted her bridesmaids in simple long, black shantung silk dresses with bouquets of very dark red roses. They were dark alright, but beautiful and the perfect choice for this black with ivory bride's wedding---brighter red would have been too harsh with the black dresses. (they were called "Black Magic") We had looked at soooooo many bridal magazines and I'm sure you guys have as well----you just can't help it! I'm sure you've seen pictures of real weddings in these bridal magazines. I saw a picture of a bride and her maids that was so stunning, then looked again and the bridesmaids dresses were all white too (or ivory BUT totally different style from the bride's). That wouldn't be my personal choice but it WAS beautiful. Who'da thunk! Your daughter will be beautiful as will her maids AND the flower girl. I wish you well. It's a lot to take on but a very fun, special and precious time with your daughter. (When shopping we happened to see a very dark red bridesmaid's dress on display and we both just stopped---the color was stunning. And a Vera Wang---$$$$$$. We could only look, but it was fun then we had to get back to reality)

A short footnote.
My god daughter.. was born w/ hydrocephalacy 32 yrs ago..
Slim chances of survival.. almost nil of a normal life..
Several operations to change shunts through her life..
But ..she is 32.. as kind as can be and lives on her own.
:)
Kudos to her parents..mostly her mother..as my brother passed away when she was a teenager..Nicole had to guide her though the adult yrs.

Oh Annie, the little flower girls are adorable. And I love that Linsey is doing so well and was able to participate. What a cutie. And you are right, Amanda and David do clean up well. Amanda is a beauty. That colour is perfect for her.

And Bud, not one doubt that he is a happy little boy is there?

Does everyone call him Bud now?

Wonderful pictures. Annie, you have the most gorgeous daughters and granddaughter. And Bud is precious too. Linsey is a cutie. I am so glad she is doing well. Oh, and tell David an old broad (me) thinks he's hot.

Thanks, everyone, I knew you'd be tickled that Linsey has beaten every odd. Monique, I'm so happy to hear that your god daughter beat her odds too, they're strong and resilient little people, aren't they?

Sherry, I'll let David know. LOL

Woodie, this one is a "happily ever after" for Linsey, I just know it. It still makes you want to sniffle, though, doesn't it?

Ann, nearly everyone calls him Bud. Amanda calls him "Little Dave" and David's mother calls him "Baby Dave" but everyone else calls him Bud. LOL

Makayla wasn't nearly as happy with the proceedings as she looks in a couple of those pictures. When I got there she had been "fighting" with the photographer who wanted all those little kids to hurry up, stand still, smile on command. Here's Makayla's opinion and she was definitely telling me all about it!

Sorry, Jessica, I hit that button too soon. I'm watching the Pistons and posting simultaneously. LOL

Ashley had to work. She needed Sunday off for graduation so although she was not happy to miss the wedding, she couldn't take all weekend, that's when they are busy at the coffee shop.

ok, Linsey picture is so sweet.

Tommy looks to be holding his breath as he's walking down the aisle. LOL! Annie, your children and grandchildren are beautiful.

The kids are so adorable! Linsey is such a cutie! Makayla is beautiful and what personality, comes through in every picture you take of her, Annie! I love the dresses and the frilly socks. Bud is getting big so fast. Time really flies! Amanda and David are a beautiful couple. They look fantastic! Thanks for sharing :)

What a beautiful family! I love those dresses, socks and white mary jane's. Tommy should be thrilled to escort those cuties! Lindsay is amazing--What a miracle! Amanda looks so pretty and along with David make a lovely couple. I can't believe how big Bud has gotten! Look at all that blonde (?) hair.

These are great pictures Annie. Yes everyone cleaned up spectacularly. The kids are all adorable and Amanda and David are a gorgeous couple.

What a great event-- love all the little ones included in the celebration-- just the way families should be-- even Bud's enjoying ! So good to hear Lindsey's doing well .

Love that shot of Tommy & the girls-- he looks so put upon-- and Makayla-- adorable. Thx for sharing .
