whatever shall I do with this?

I know some of you don't make it over to the pets forum. Look what followed me home (in my arms!). Was in the apartment complex parking lot and walked right up to me. Not sure if Jasper wants a little brother or not, but if this beautiful guy isn't claimed soon I might get another son! Keeping him separate from Jasper until I get him checked at the vet. He's sleeping on my neck, pillow, and leather office chair (which is forbidden, even for Jasper... new guy's gonna have to learn the house rules pretty quick).

Jasper (below) told me that the new "homeless" kitty has no meat on his bones and that we should take up a donation for him. I'll give 30/40 pounds, and Jasper can donate 4 or 5!

He's just beautiful - those eyes are so exotic! He looks pretty young too, does it looks like he belonged to anyone?

Jasper's quite handsome too! Good luck with this sweet boy.

He had an old (it was cracked and powdery) flea collar on, but no tags. All skin and bones so I think he's been on the streets a while if he ever owned a person before. I of course did the right thing and put a found kitty poster up. It had is picture on it and said in big bold letters, "FINDERS KEEPERS". J/K I had seen him once about four months ago under a car (those colors are unmistakable), but I was too tired to stop then. Plus I was trying to gain the trust of some other true strays in the complex at the time and I was pretty upset that it wasn't going well so I wasn't going to "face rejection" with this one. He's been on the street a while, but with the way he came up to me I'm surprised he was homeless for any length of time. He's sweet as pie, which is good because I can't have any pie on this stupid diet!

Thank you for saving the saddest looking one of the bunch i do the same thing when i buy plants, it's a better reward and feeling when they recover and do well. I'm thinking the bottom leaves are prob goners but you never really know, y best bet is to either wait itor prune back the dead leaves. Good luck

How to save bottle gentian seeds - or whatever I need to do to?

I have been doing prairie plating for over 30 years and experiment with many so called difficult native seed. This is what I know about all the gentians in zone five area. Collect bottle gentian pods just after they have faded and have turned brown but before the pod opens all the way. The pod is ripe when the top opens slightly. Gentian seed should never dry out. This is the key to all the gentians. I put them in a plastic ziplock bag so they stay moist. I take them home open the pods and then add moist ( not wet) sand to the seed and put them in the fridge until its time to sow. You will find a lot of the pods of seed contain small worms that eat the seed just discard them as you open the pods. The seed can be kept in the fridge but after about three months they can start to germinate in the bag so I usually sow them before the snow flys. I have grown the stratified gentian after two months in the fridge but they are very slow growing and it is just easier to sow where you want them. I have grown thousands on restorations this way. This also works for all the gentians. Never let the seed dry out. Good luck.

marita, I can't find your Miss Charlotte T Hatfield but had more luck with 'Great Grandfather Garthwaite'. He was William Garthwaite, the minister of the Congregational Church in Wattisfield Suffolk (refereed to in your book as the 'Meeting House'. He is listed in the 1841 census as about 53 years old, Sarah 53 years and with a daughter Ann 20. His occupation is Dissenting Minister (dissenting in this context means he was not ordained in the C of E) I found this about him by typing into google "Garthwaite Wattisfield" The Rev. William Garthwaite, from Cratfield, accepted an unanimous invitation from this church, and came to Wattis- field with his family, August 5th, 1817. He was recognized as pastor on the 15th September, 181 8. The Rev. J. H. Cox, of Hadleigh, introduced the service ; the Rev. W. Ward, of Stow- market, delivered a discourse on the nature of a gospel church, and asked the questions ; the Rev. C. Dewhirst, of Bury, offered prayer; the Rev. J. M. Ray, of Sudbury, addressed the pastor and people ; and the Rev. T. Hickman, of Lavenham, concluded by prayer. On December 19th, 1827, Mrs. Garthwaite died suddenly whilst her husband was gone to bring his daughters home for their holidays. This melancholy event produced a great excite- ment, and evoked a considerable sympathy for the bereaved family. The Rev. W. Ward, of Stowmarket, officiated at the funeral and preached, on the following Sabbath, to a crowded congregation, from Matt. xxiv. 44. Mr. Garthwaite continued in the pastorate till 1847, when he resigned. He afterwards, November nth, 1847, married Ann, widow of the Rev. J. Elborough, formerly of Thetford. Debby, how is the week coming along? I'm on Day 3 of the great closet cleaning. DH's closet is blocked by my folding work table piled with clothes. I have 2 bags by the garage door to drop off at a church when I go to choir practice this afternoon, and I hope to have more by then. I can't go total KonMari because I would drown lol so I'm doing categories. Did dresses, pants, skirts, hanging shirts, jackets, and cardigans. Today is purses and shoes, then I will move on to pull-over shirts/sweaters and pajamas from the dresser drawers. I think I'll do the socks and underwear tomorrow, or maybe tonight while I watch a movie. I kind of follow FlyLady (well, I used to till I, um, got out of the habit) but one of her rules is "don't take out more than you can put away in an hour". That works sometimes, but this here is putting one of her SuperFlingBoogie on steroids lol. Last night I chanced on AGT on the little tv in the kitchen, so I cleaned out the spice cabinet while I watched. I get a lot done in little pockets of time like that. I figured 2018 expirations wouldn't kill us, just not be as flavorful, so they are back on the shelf, but I still am tossing over half the spices. I'm going to go where I can buy them by the teaspoon! Oh, and I was also in two text conversations with two very different friends about two very different subjects--one conversation was in fact about spice and pantry organization--so I was having a grand time! Well, my lunch break is over, back to the project. What are you up to today?

i love happy endings! a very pretty kitty indeed. even if the owner calls, they are not much of an owner to have a skinny kitty, just keep it and love it! i just got back from vacation and fell in love with 3 kitties, of course traveling i couldn't bring them home, but it broke my heart they were all homeless...

Yes you should keep him of course!
I'm a pushover for homeless cats. I also had one with similar colouring....white with orange spots.
He seems to know that you're a kindhearted person who wouldn't send him away ....so congratulations on your new son Bobby!

He's yours by now, isn't he? I hope so! Enjoy them - they're both beautiful :-) Nothing better than two cats in the house except 3.

Looks like a lovely find. We have no skinny cats in our neighborhood, but we do have a few cats that visit our yard. I think there are plenty of mice around our aviary to keep them fed well, and some of them drink from our pond's waterfall. I would keep cats if I weren't allergic.

I guess you've decided to keep him by now. How was the trip to the vet?

The vet is sometime this week... as soon as they call me back with to set an appointment... I left a message on Thursday. I'll call him Jayden :o)
