Last Lunch With Anne - April 22

Just before my friend Anne returned to England for her half yearly stay at her English home, we went to a little restaurant that had been taken over by new owners a few months ago. We'd heard that it was very good and at the same time inexpensive, small, quiet and with plenty of parking. It was also a 5 minute drive from our house. We decided to try it on our last 'ladies day out' since Wolf always prefers that Anne and I do the trial run on new restaurants, so I can come back home and report to him.
This one is a gem, so I'll definitely be taking him there one day soon!

We started with hot bread rolls and ali oli, Anne then had a chicken soup, next we shared breaded asparagus stuffed with shrimp (lovely fennel garnish,) and finished with a kebab of beef tenderloin medallions in mushroom sauce. Definitely a pre-diet meal! (When I think of all the - choke - calories it's no wonder I have to pay for it now LOL). But was soooo goood! I'm putting some of the pics over on the WFD thread and all twenty of them on the link below.

Great photos, Sharon. I loved the one of the drago tree. Is it a type draecena? The food looks wonderful and is plated beautifully.

Thank you Renée...yes I'll miss my friend Anne and the shopping and lunches out we had, but maybe it's also a good idea to have a few months off from those rich dinners and take exercise classes instead to get rid of the tummy that develops every winter LOL.

Marigene, yes the drago trees here are "Dracaena Draco" and there are many here on the island.

As a matter of fact, we planted a double seed drago in our front garden some years ago and now it towers over our heads.
Here it is a couple of summers ago:

In the background you see the bright red-orange flowers of the umbrella-shaped flamboyant tree in the little plaza in front of our house. That blooms usually in June. Our dragos are now just starting to form branches and will end up looking like the one in the first photo.

There's one very old drago tree which is said to be around 1000 years old here on Tenerife at a town called Icod de Los Vinos.

As always, your photos are beautiful. Those little restaurants look like people's homes more than a commercial establishment, with the lacy curtains and pictures on the wall.

Goodbye to Anne, I'm hoping that she travels safely and returns soon.

Adios a Anne. Sinceramente, le deseo un buen viaje a ella, al igual que preciosas memorias para ambos. Great pictures Sharon!

Gracias Sol y Annie ! Anne has already phoned me from England to say she had a good flight to Gatwick. She lives on the south English coast near one of her daughters. She's another one of the 'British swallows' who spend their winters here and their summers in England. Sounds like a pretty good way to spend your retirement years.

Annie I love these little cosy living room restaurants and more when the food is good. And the best part is that the items on the menu at that place start at around US $7.00 per dish. Can't get better than that !
