A friends new kitchen

Some friends of ours are building a new kitchen onto their house. It isn't finished yet, but I'm already jealous of it. Peter is making all of the cabinetry himself.

Pantry unit (btw, that's DSW in the sling, Peter in the stripes)

Corner, window, part of the stovetop...

Stove area...(don't worry, Peter knows he needs to drop the vent a little)

Stove and light fixture...

Sink, counterspace, storage area...

He's going to have an island with a sink in it, too. I didn't get a pic of what will be the breakfast nook, there is a great light fixture there and a beautiful window. I'll post more pics when he's finished, if you'd like.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the stove and tile work!!!!
The lighting fixture is very unique too!

So may I ask what happened to DSW??? If you already posted it and I missed it I am sorry....been a tad hectic here and may have missed it!

BTW....Zane is a cutie pie! Give him a kiss from his Philly Fairy Godmother!!

Susie, I totally forgot to post that catch-up thread, didn't I? DSW had surgery... I'll give more detail in another thread. And Zane has been hugged and kissed for you. :)

I agree with the handle. I used my brand new All-Clad 4 qt saucepan last night and was surprised at how uncomfortable the handle was. I remembered reading this thread and came back to say...OUCH! I saw some rubber looking things that looked generic enough that you could slip over pot handles. I think I'll get one of those and try it to see if that would make the pan more comfortable. I almost dropped the pan of boiling water when I first picked it up. Really surprised me. PJ

Ok, so I exchanged emails with my architect last night, and he says not to sweat the non-dovetailed drawers in the cabinetry line that fits in our budget. Good thing, as the most expensive line is $5k over our cabinetry allowance!

I agree, Susie, I love the tile and the stove.

I was also wondering what happened to DSW's arm, I hope he's recovering quickly.
