Jayne, Kit does seem to be relaxing in her stroller, I'm glad she likes it. I know a couple of people who have gotten leashes for their cats, but their cats never cooperate.

The serviceberry trees is beautiful, I'm glad it missed the hail. I hope you enjoy today, it's beautiful here.

Oh Jayne, Kit looks so cute in that stroller and your tree is beautiful. I've never heard of a Serviceberry tree. I guess it doesn't grow well in our weather. I love the blooms. What does it look like during the summer?

Ellen, I don't know what it looks like in the summer! I only discovered the tree last week, although I've seen them around, I didn't know the name of it. The species is Autumn Brilliance and it's supposed to look great in the Fall.

My cat, Prudence, would walk on a leash with a harness. She liked it! We didn't ever have our cats loose outdoors but we would put Pru's harness on and attach it to a long rope and attach the rope to a brick and move her around the yard, LOL. She was quite happy that way.

I think Prudence was very obedient! I tried that with Kit, but she managed to wriggle out of the harness. She's not allowed outside unsupervised either. She stays in her Kittywalk when I'm working in the yard. Sometimes, she lays in her hammock, but usually, she lays underneath! Looks like that's where she's headed in this pic.

Jayne, Kit looks just like my Chase! My sweetie pie tuxedo is a a doll face but a brat, into everything and a real people cat. His sister, Maddie, is steel gray, not one other marking, a very slim and elegant cat who bestows her favours upon you when it suits her. You would never believe they were litter mates.

Both love to be outdoors and tend to bolt whenever the door opens. The stroller and the walk would be great ways of getting them outside and keeping them safe. I'll have to look for them.

Jayne I love the front of your house and that Serviceberry tree is already looking beautiful. As a plant addict, I had to look it up and I see that it is also called Juneberry and its botanical name is AMELANCHIER with various cultivars, one being CANADENSIS, some with white others with pink flowers and red berries. Lots about it if you Google images.

Love your Kit in the stroller. I wonder how I would manage trying to take our six cats in one of those. I'm afraid mine all love their freedom to sleep in the sun or shade under a bush in our garden. They're now too old to go for walks on their own out in the street and have adopted the custom of the Spanish siesta for nearly 24/7. I did see an amazing pet clothing store in Canada last summer. They not only sold strollers (one in pink) but all types of cat and dog clothing and costumes!

When I was small, I dressed my cat in doll's clothes, nightgown and bonnet included and pushed him around the neighbourhood in a doll carriage. Poor cat, he was very patient but at times would jump out and run down the street, nightgown and ribbons trailing on the ground behind him ! Wish I'd had a photo of that.

SharonCB, Thanks too! The pic didn't really do justice to the front of my house, since I was just trying to show Kit and the Serviceberry. I'm attaching a link below to a picture I took yesterday. I did learn a bit about the Serviceberry before I had it planted. The berries are edible. Mine is the Autumn Brilliance variety. Six cats in a stroller would be overload! I remember seeing a double decker one, but I don't remember where I saw it. Ha ha...I would have loved seeing your cat all dressed up. Kit wouldn't stand for that. The groomer put a bow on her head once...that didn't last long.

Jayne, what kind of reaction do you get when you take Kit for a stroll? Do people stop you and want to chat? Ever encounter any dogs? That would be my concern.

You new tree is beautiful. What didn't you like about the Japanese maple? I have one planted in a corner of the backyard and I was afraid it was going to start getting too much sun after we cut down 6 very tall pines last fall, but it looks like it's doing ok so far.

BTW, your house is huge! Is that why you're building again? Something smaller this time?

A few people have commented on Kit when we're out for a walk, but no one stopped to chat. We really don't see too many people when we go out. Dogs haven't been a problem. Never see one loose in our neighborhood and the ones we've encountered on a leash aren't a bother. Kit doesn't mind passing dogs...she was buddies with our last dog, an Alaskan Malamute.

I like Japanese maples, but the one I had there was a dwarf, with those downturned limbs. It didn't look right in front of that arch...too small. Yeah, the house is too big for two people. (And too freakin' much for me to clean!) We've been too busy to even work on the plans, so we won't be building as soon as we planned. We already bought the lot, so it will be there when we're ready. Of course, I finally have most of the plantings here the way I want them (and I finally have nice grass!) so I'm having second thoughts about moving. At the moment, I dread the thought of starting over with all the landscaping, but then again, I really enjoy it. Our new lot is over an acre and totally overgrown, so it will be a challenge! The house we lived in before this was on 6 acres and by the time we sold it, it looked like a well manicured park with a lake.

Wow Jayne! Your house looks awesome, do you have any pics of the inside of it? I'd love to see!

Jayne, cleaning was my first thought. LOL And since that's something I easily ignore as I walk out the back door to play in the yard, bigger would definitely not be better.

I know what you mean about landscaping. It takes time along with a lot of heart and soul. We have a small city lot that's ever changing, but I'd hate to start over with a totally clean slate. The older you get the harder all of that digging becomes. And since all of my beds have been transformed from masses of clay into incredible friable soil with the addition of lots of home-brewed compost it's just another reason to stay put.
