Lunch with Brenda in Corpus Christi

| Too bad Texas is such a big state, only Brenda was close enough to meet us for lunch. She picked out a seafood place and brought her DD, DH and granddaughter Aleksi.
Because we had flown and were limited as to luggage, we had no gifts for the adults, but I bought a little purse shaped like a poodle for Aleksi. I forgot to take a picture of it, but she filled it with candy from the front hostess desk, so I think she liked it, LOL.
Brenda was wonderful and friendly:
Her DH and DD were wonderful too:
We got so busy yakking I forgot to take pictures of the food! Well, I did get a picture of my Caldo Xochitl. Don't ask me how to pronounce that, even the waitress couldn't!
In spite of my empty hands, Brenda brought me gifts, which Aleksi helped me unwrap, including this really nice bottle of Texas Olive Oil and a bar of olive oil Chef's Soap, redolent with vanilla and smelling so good Elery said he thought he could probably eat it:
Brenda also brought me three kinds of chili powder, including some "Dallas Dynamite" that Elery is looking forward to, some Vietnamese Cinnamon, and gifts for Ashley and Amanda:
Saturday was the coldest day since I'd been here and the wind was blowing about 30MPH so I think poor Aleksi missed out on her planned dolphin watching, but I hope she had as much fun as I did!

Great pictures - thanks for sharing! I wish I could have been there. I've met Brenda as well and had a great time with her, albeit very brief. I hope the next time I'm in Texas I'll get to see her again. My family monopolizes most of my time when I'm there, but I do get an occasional day in Austin, although generally not two, since my parents live north of there on a farm near Temple. BTW, your dish would be pronounced "So-shittle", and so you might not want to say it out loud. Lars

Oh my, Lars, thanks for the pronounciation. It tasted much, much better than the name sounds! Jesica, Brenda wants me to work on a "copy cat" cherry steak sauce, so we'll see what comes from Michigan..... Annie

I've met both these fine gals and Aleksi too - nyah-nyah. Both of y'all look chipper and stylin'. Hey - where's Ellery? Aleksi is so cute. I'm glad you were able to get over there to meet up with Annie Brenda!

Gina, Elery was taking the picture, of course. Someone had to do it..... I did notice that I was sleeveless, in spite of the 60F weather, and Brenda was wearing sleeves, her DD had a sweatshirt and her DH had a sweater. LOL, you can tell who the person is who was thinking that 60 is still pretty warm. (grin) Annie

Did Annie just call me a wuss? lol! It was a blast meeting Annie and Elery. Jessica, Annie had Aleksi "at hello", of course the adorable purse helped and a guide to the candy bowl worked for Aleksi too. Lars, I do hope you can spare some time your next trip to TX! However, I do understand about family time. I'll be circling May 20th-ish on my calendar and looking forward to Sharon's visit. Annie, thanks for posting the pics, too. Brenda
