Lake Jump, 2006

As I mentioned, my friend Patrick participated in a jump into Lake Michigan to raise money for the Red Cross. He managed to raise over $1,000 and had to jump into The Lake. Lake temperature this morning was 35F and I cheered him up by pointing out that it was three whole degrees above ice cubes.

There were appropriate first responders and lifeguards waiting for the fools...um...jumpers:

There were jumpers of all ages:

OK, everyone into The Lake!! Note that some didn't actually jump, a couple turned around and came right back out. (grin)

The rest went in, and came back out, really quickly. The guy in the black shirt and shorts is Patrick, coming out much more quickly than he went in:

It was still warmer in The Lake than out, the windchill coming off The Lake was about 12F. I wore a sweatshirt and a coat and was just comfortable, I couldn't believe those kids (and grown ups) were standing around with no shirts. Here in Michigan we are a hardy group, I guess. LOL
