What's Blooming Today - Roses !

It's been a magnificent warm and sunny day today with a cloudless blue sky since early morning.

So I decided I'd better get out and take a few photos seeing as things are bursting into flower after some heavy rains we had last week.

I started walking out in the street with my camera over my shoulder attached to a tripod as I wanted to take some good zoomed shots of the mountain, now covered in a thick blanket of snow. I also took a few photos of some bougainvilla on an old stone wall. Afterwards I came back into our garden and took pics of things that were blooming: white iris, white iceberg roses, red and pink roses, mauve petrea, aloe and jade plants.

Such great variety of plants to choose from including some enormous cactus which I'll leave for another day.

So I've put these 15 photos taken this morning into a little album at the link below.

I hope you'll enjoy seeing some Tenerife sunshine and flowers on this mid-January day.

You're right, Sharon, magnificent! The mountain is beautiful as are the flowers! Just gorgeous! You really do live in paradise! and you have such a talent with photography! Thanks for sharing!

Snow in the mountians, and roses inthe garden, what more can yu ask for??

Sharon, this is perfect for today. We had 5 inches of snow last night(fun driving home from dinner at 11 pm) and I dreamt of my roses last night too. Perfect.

You had my favorite rose in bloom too, Queen Lizzie. I love the color.

hong2007, I am not sure if the bridal wreath has small metalic balls, I will look when its done blooming. Ive never really looked after it blooms & they are so small too. I love our tea trees. Our best one died 3 years ago, I replaced it 3 times but they all died, they were always half dead when the nursery got them (special order). Here is the awesome one that died. Forgot the name. tim

Hey, Kathy.Yea,I have lots of room for big roses,I had a huge rose,and lost it last year to some thing eating all the roots off it. Ingrid, I am cutting on this bush all the time,if I didn't it would take over the entire city block.Its like the energizer battery, it keeps going and going. Florence;Hi, How have you been? the cutting for this one was about 3 ft long.I just dug a little trench and laid it down in it and covered it up,and in not time I had a nice rose growing.Only thing is,I didnt know I would have to keep cutting it back just to keep it in my own yard. Bayourose - Thank you. I've had my Royal William quite a few years. It is a dependable rose, sometimes a little slow to repeat and averages about one dozen blooms per flush, which I consider fair. Mine used to get very tall, but in recent years it probably doesn't get over 4 ft. tall. It has a nice tea fragrance and I consider it a true red, it is a pretty rose in person. Even though I don't consider it a heavy bloomer, I always enjoy the blooms I do get.

Mine came too!! I have one open bloom on dames de chenoceau and it smells wonderful. My last shipment was climbers and they all had long canes neatly tucked as well when they very well could have whacked it back . I appreciated that! I love roses unlimited!

Sharon, we have exactly the same flowers blooming here, except for the iris! I just got back from a bike ride at the beach and passed lots of yards with many colors of roses and bougainvillea. My hibiscus bushes are blooming now too, and I have a red one and a yellow one. They used to stop blooming in the winter, but now they are tall enough that they get enough sun (They are in the front yard, which faces north). I planted some antheriums in the front yard (in a shady place so they won't get burned in summer), and they never stop blooming, but they need protection from the sun. I have magenta double impatiens that are doing well now because of the rain we had earlier.

We're getting Santa Ana winds today, which means that it is warmer at the beach than downtown. Fortunately, I got an air ionizer for Christmas, which will reverse the effects of the positive ions that the S.A. winds bring.
