| Bizzo sent me a New England sampler. Lookie:
- Individual Boston Baked Bean pots, perfect for beans, soup, anything.
- The Boston Beanpot Cookery cookbook - not just for beans - lots of interesting recipes in it.
- Indian pudding - I've never seen this historic item and I can't wait to try it.
- Four grades of Vermont maple syrup. Yum! I can't wait to use this on an acorn squash I have for tonight.
Here's a closeup:
Bizzo also sent Odo his own set of travel bowls - one for food and one for water. Bizzo, these are too cool - they are the best design I've seen.
Thank you for the regional goodies and the doggy bowls - Odo & I will enjoy them!

| I like the beanpots, and I love baked beans, but my favorite is the collapsible dog bowls, what a great idea. Maple syrup. I'll bet the darkest is Grade B, the others are Grade A Light Amber, Grade A Medium Amber and Grade A Dark Amber? I've never actually seen any of the Dark Amber, I thought maybe it was a myth! | That's a lovely swap package! I've never seen so many types of maple syrup in one place. I'm lucky if I have two options to choose from in the stores around here. :) Enjoy all the taste testing! Bri |

| The bottles of syrup look like sparkling jewels. What is in Indian Pudding? I've never tried it. Boston Baked Beans -- yum. And lucky Odo. Only one problem -- poor Bizzo can't count! Well, maybe the cookbook was packing material ;) |

| I have the same question as Carol -- WHAT IS INDIAN PUDDING?? I have to assume that it means "American Indian" as opposed to East Indian, since NE has little to do with Asia. Although I don't eat syrup, as a rule, dark maple syrup would be a real treat. I do cook with it however, and I can think of wonderful candies that can be made from those syrups. Today a woman at work showed me some mushrooms she picked in Northern California that smell exactly like maple syrup!! I've never had Boston Baked Beans, but the pots are really cute. I would use the pots to store dried beans, since my beans right now are in ugly jars. How thoughtful to have the doggie bowls! Great package and a great theme! Lars |

| What a great swap box! I'm another who wants the low down on the grades of maple syprup. I use to be a fake syrup guy...until I had the real deal. The doggie bowls will come in handy....the water one for sure with all of the walking Gina does with Odo. Bizzo, ya done good!! David |

| You forgot the Beano (darfc) I bet that Indian Pudding would be great drizzled with some persimmon sauce. I first heard of it through one of Jeff Smith's (Frugal Gourmet) books. I haven't been cooking with cornmeal the past decade or so; time to introduce it to the kids. Hey Arabella send me one sheet from your notepads, 'you'll eat it...you'll eat it and like it' LOL I knew Annie would zero in on that maple syrup, it does look wonderful. And the two bowls are perfect for you and DH! |

| I like regional packages too. It brings us closer as a virtual community doesn't it. Having been born in the New England area with family still there, I have a fondness for things NE. I really enjoyed the syrup samples that I received in a swap. It helped me make a more informed decision. |

| Lucky, lucky Gina-- there's liquid gold in those bottles! Love the bean "pots"-- that special shape is suppose to make the beans bake up tender & flavor infused. Great pkg. |

| I'm so glad it made it all in one piece! The bean pots didn't have boxes, so I was concerned that between those and the glass maple syrup bottles we might have some breakage, and a mess!! Glad the mess was avoided :-) So, no, I didn't cheat! Really. My your choice category was "New England Foods" - so Indian Pudding and Maple Syrup. That's one item. (Let's pretend you eat them together LOL!!! ) The grades of maple syrup are:
- Vermont Fancy
- Vermont Grade A Medium Amber
- Vermont Grade A Dark Amber
- Vermont Grade B
you can get more info on the Vermont grades (which I guess are different from other maple syrup grades?) at this link: Vermont Maple Syrup Grades and Jessy, I thought about the beano, but I figured Gina could take care of that herself... or use one of the non-bean recipes in the cookbook! Indian pudding is a baked custard with milk, butter, molasses, eggs, spices, and cornmeal. Here's more info and a recipe for it... Indian Pudding. I've only had this canned variety... cooked in a double boiler. and if I had a dog, I'd want those bowls, too. Target, can you believe it?? The rest of the goodies came from the Mystic Seaport Museum Gift and Bakeshop. |
