Swapper's Stress and OCD

Am I the only one who goes crazy after sending out a package? Did I put this in? Did I put that in? Did I put the note in? Did I copy the address right?

Before I sent out my package, I re-opened it to make sure I put everything in. Then started to close it and opened it again to make sure the note was still in there.

Insane...I tell you...I'm going insane. LOL

Well, I stress till it gets there..And now I'm stressing because according to the Post Office it arrived yesterday, but I haven't seen anything from the receiver. Although she did post earlier today on another post.

Now I'm wondering who got the parcel? And if it did arrive, was anything broken???

I'm usually don't stress about sending, just waiting for it to arrive, hopefully intact. Like terri the Post Office says it arrived yesterday morning but the receipient hasn't posted yet although I did say in a post the other day that they might want to wait for the letter which I forgot to include and sent the next day. Now I am stressing.

pkponder Maybe mine are too deep in the water. The rhizomes are about 4-6 inches below the surface. It's mainly just the tips, about 2 inches, of the leaves that turn brown, like all of them. It's on a cinderblock already, but maybe I need to put something else under it to raise it up a bit more. Can't hurt to try. One more question, whats a good media to use for repoting pond plants? I know both of mine came with the "sludge" type stuff in the pots but I don't recall seeing that type for sale anywhere. Any places around Ft. Worth that sell it? Or just the technical name of it so I can google around. Or maybe there's something better to use? Thanks again, Phil

tuscanlover - Thanks for the kind words. I wish your daughter the best with her 6 year old. They are learning so much today about Autism and how to work with it in the schools. It is so much better now then it was when my son was a student and they didn't know what the heck was wrong with him. And the general public is more aware and less likely to stare or make rude comments like they use to (though some people will never learn). I am sorry to hear about your move and the loss of your and DH's job, house and all. That is really tough to face at 55. My dad went through a similar thing when he was in his late 40's. In 1961 he was transferred by his company from Mass. to Illinois. He moved the whole family, bought a new house and less then a year later they closed that division. It was a very tough time for everyone. My mom missed her family terribly and we almost moved back to Mass. But then my dad changed careers completely and became a stock broker and made more money then he ever would have at his old job. He left my mother very well off when he died in 1987. And she still is very well taken care of by what he left behind. So when I see the grey clouds, I try to find the silver lining. As to whether I am still sane or not, my DH might debate you on that fact. ;>) Clare

Betty according to the posts you recieved all 12 of your blocks. You recieved two from Juttz. She stepped in for Mollie who had some issues come up and contacted Juttz to let her know she just couldn't continue. Judy decided to make an extra block for the members that would not recieve one from Mollie. Instead of me having to make them. Sometimes this happens and someone just can't continue. But we always try to make sure that you recieve your 12 blocks. When we know that this happens. I am sorry you didn't sign up this year because of this. Some people didn't even get 12 blocks because so many people left the group. But there were a few of us this last year sending extra blocks to try and make sure everyone got as many as possible. Be thankful you were a Sunbonnet Susie and actually had a great group. The Rippettes last year fell apart and ended the year with only 5 or 6 members still sending. But we percevered and tried to get them as many blocks as we could anyway. I know that I make it perfectly clear from the get go that this is a year long committment. But sometimes life just happens and things can't be forseen. We all have to take this into account. Mollie told her group leader she couldn't continue and that group leader made the decision to fill in herself rather than try to find another person. I'm sorry if this may not have been relayed to you. And to make the comment that well Mollie's Birthday was in January just isn't right. She did the best she could and when she just couldn't anymore she told Judy so that a replacement could be found. Because she didn't want anyone to be shorted a block. I am truly sorry if this may offend you but I find it highly offensive to make that snide remark when you recieved 12 blocks from all those great ladies in your group and so many others didn't this last year because there group members just fell of the face of the earth. After I posted last night I took a second look at my box and I have to say that it is just so special and thoughtful. I can't wait to tell you about it (I'm at work now). It canme from a part of the country that I have always wanted to visit.

So, TGIF and look for my post this evening.

I'm in absolute panic mode after I have sent, will it get there in one piece, will it even get there (had a parcel go AWOL in an earlier swap). When I am sending contraband (like this time) I worry like heck about customs.

My package has shown that it has been in the "destination country" for 3 days , but says nothing about moving past customs and on to delivery....oh oh!

Just hoping that the USPS doesn't regularly update the Canada Post tracking system.

so I wait, bite my nails and pray! LOL

Chase, I am sure that USPS does not regularly update the canada post tracking system as I have often heard the complaint that they do not update their own. LOL!

I am also in the worry wart camp. Once it leaves my hands the worrying begins, from will it get there to will my partner like it. As I alsways use UPS I worry once more when it is deleivered and I do not hear about it being delivered here. I am always sure my husband copied the address wrong or something and it is on the wrong person's porch.

Sharon, Once it says that it is in destination country it is my understanding it has cleared customs. So I think that you can stop worrying about that. With any luck your partner will be receiving their box today.

Hey all, if you're counting on the USPS to track, DON'T!
They are awful at tracking. This week's experience proved it once again. I sent a grant proposal by certified mail, return receipt right here in L.A. It never posted as signed for so I called the foundation to see if it had arrived by the deadline. Luckily my phone call proved that it had arrived, but the P.O. never updated my tracking number. The following day the post card arrived proving delivery, but it still never showed on the site.
I know some would disagree, but I like FedEx for tracking.

I never worry about it getting there, I just worry......

Will they like it? Is it enough? Will everyone else like it? Will it match their kitchen? Will they think it's lame? What if they already have one...........

I make myself nuts.

My fear this time was "did I read the threads right that she said she liked this and this? Did I confuse her with someone else?!" LOL Then I go back to re-read the thread and can't find it, thus adding to my panic! I'm always afraid I'm sending it to the wrong person - "No, that was so and so who likes that stuff...I hate it!" LOL That would be just my luck.

I noticed this time that the tracking info for my partner's package wasn't updated until it got there. So it went from "accepted at x facility" to "delivered." Oh well, at least it got there. 2 1/2 days from New York to Nebraska is pretty darned fast, if you ask me.

Heck, I've never sent a swap package that I remembered to put the note IN. LOL

I do obsess, though, when I participate. Just because I like it, will they? What if it gets broken, I'll feel so badly. What if....what if....what if.....

After getting the swine flu or the equivalent, breaking things, running out of wrapping paper and getting a box that was too small I think this swap almost did me in. Let's go back to a big old box of stuff where my swapmate is bound to like something.

LOL, Jim - just throw a bunch of stuff at 'em! I stress too, but I would REALLY be stressed if I shipped a TURDUCKEN or a couple of LIVE LOBSTERS, for example!!!

Okay, my turn to stress. UPS says it was delivered to "Met Man Cust". Huh? Maybe the UPS guy met the man customer?? I hope he remembers to tell the wife, although it's hard to miss a red box that says Office Depot on it. It was a recycled copy paper box.

I hope it wasn't smashed flat. Ugh. Also, the way I packaged it, the recipient it going to end up with a lot of shred on her floor, so I hope they aren't upset.

Okay, now I begin the vigil to watch for her post.

Oh yeah, I stress! I have this thing about packing, that's why I could never be an eBay seller. Then there's that competitive thing that I have. With this swap, I am throwing in the towel. I will do the best that I can for my partner and hope that he/she appreciates it.

When we did a swap on the Home Organizing Forum, it was a piece of cake. We just sent junk from our home or garage to each other.
