WANTED: Dishtowels and Another Gift from Kathleen

I finally managed to get permission from Kathleen to show you the birthday gift she sent in with my swap box.

I love this little pitcher not only because it's so pretty, but because it was made in Ireland and both Kathleen and I are Irish. And what's so surprising is that Kathleen had no idea that I love and collect pitchers. More clairvoyance perhaps?

And I didn't think to spread out the lovely dishtowels, I was just showing how they were all tied up in a ribbon. Aren't they nice? And just match my kitchen.

Very pretty dishtowels, I'm partial to blue, very nice! Kathleen did such a great job. Very pretty pitcher! Kathleen did her homework, and I know she was nervous about her first swap and she did a terrific job!

It has always been my understanding that trading seeds is permissable as long as seeds are labeled with the botanical name, not their common name. Also, packets of seed should not contain mixed seeds, such as wildflower mixtures. I have never been required to fill out any forms, but that may be my particular post office. I've had trades in South America, China, France, & several Canadian trades. The only time I had a problem was with the trade to France, the envelope was checked, but because they were labeled correctly, they were shipped on & arrived a bit late. Another trade took an extraordinary long time, almost a month, but I was very pleased with that one. Of course, it has been a few months since I swapped, so rules may have changed.

That is a cute idea Lynn, I rarely go to Target and I don't know why. I guess Walmarts is closer. My younger sister (55) and my niece (41) came from Michigan and Tennessee to visit me (60). We have a drive In movie in my town that they have wanted to go to for years. So, we all piled in the car a couple of weeks ago (with treats) and FINALLY went to the drive In and they loved it, since they haven't been since they were kids. Toy Story was showing (I know) but we went anyways and enjoyed it so much that I bought them a big baby key chain (for spare keys) so they will always remember it. The screen was a old big sign I think and the train practically came right in the drive In. They all laughed saying "I bet the conductor thinks this is Small Town USA", it is very Mayberry. Ok. I guess I'm outvoted :) I think of the "service industry" as like people like merry maids or something. Like my cleaning lady in our FL house, she comes and cleans and leaves, cleaning houses is her only job, and we don't really chat. This is a much friendlier relationship. No one I know who has household help in our area gives them an annual cash bonus. Everyone does gifts, which are sometimes cash and sometimes other things. When we've done cash gifts in the past, the gifts have been equal to around a week's salary though... So I guess you could call it a bonus... Edited to add- I like what kswl did with the carpet cleaning, giving something that was something useful, but also more personal than just handing off an envelope of cash. What a great choice-- do you mind sharing where you got it? For future reference, you can call PB (and possibly other stores?) for more flexibility in the monogram. I know this because I just had a PB Kids backpack monogrammed for a nephew who goes by two initials.. think: AJ, BJ, CJ, EJ

Beverly, no I didn't know you collected pitchers, but when I saw your last name, I knew at least your husband was Irish like me. It is a Noritake pitcher, but was surprised to see it was made in Ireland. I loved the colors, too! So you and my sisters, and ME, now have them.. Enjoy it!
Do you have a place to display them? I had DH make me a shelf above the window in the breakfast nook so I could keep some out all the time. It is high up, so the dust doesn't show!! LOL

I don't have a nice place like that to display the pitchers. You are lucky to have a husband who is handy. Nice pitcher collection.
