wanted: stunned in san antonio, wow lori!

Yesterday morning I received two boxes of what I thought was a couple of different orders. Later that afternoon it hit me....heck one of those could be my swap box and guess what it was a box from Lori! I was so excited I forgot to take pictures before unwrapping...sorry Lori, but everything was wrapped nice. Lori explained that one of her favorite things to do was to bake. I knew already this was going to be a great box.

Now, this is where it gets amazing: The first item was a Wilton mini muffin, cupcake pan that bakes two dozen at a time. How cool! Lori, I had just received a new cookbook two days earlier and had made a list of things to bake for the holidays and one required the mini-muffin pans. I had a couple of small ones, but they were bent and hard to work with. So, this was on "the list".

Second was a wonderful King Arthur 200th Anniversary Cookbook..."a baker's bible" with pictures (wonderful for baking-impaired people such as I) and I will love, love trying recipes out of this.

My third item, is a really nice Salter scale with a very accommodating sized container to hold the food. I tend to buy alot of foods in bulk and this will be so helpful as my current scale resembled a small postage meter...lol. The truly amazing thing was that a new scale was on "the list".

I wish "the list" wasn't in pencil or I would definitely post a picture of it. Truly amazing, Lori. Thank you so much, I love your favorite things and they are truly perfect for me.

But, wait, I am not through. Mackenzie sent Aleksi (which was in my swap box) a wonderful gift also. I tell you, Mackenzie is one generous little "Princess"! Wow! She sent Aleksi a Disney Cinderella waffle maker which makes an adorable impression of Cinderalla and Prince Charming in the castle. It was soooo cute. Aleksi loved, loved it and just wait until she sees a waffle, which is her favorite breakfast item. I mean favorite as in will-ask-for-waffles-6-out-of-7-days- a-week favorite! Aleksi was so thrilled that you included her, I truly thank you for that.

Lori, I am not sure how you knew EXACTLY what to buy me, but you sent me an amazing box. Thank you, I will think of you often when using your favorite things.

A Salter Scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I need one of these too!

The mini muffin tin is definitely a must have for any kitchen. I use mine all the time.

And I'm sure the cookbook is wonderful. I scan every issue of the KA catalog for their recipes.

A Cinderella Waffle Maker, how cool is that! And so sweet that Mackenzie thought of Aleksi too! Aleksi sure is cute!

Hi Robin, I just looked at all their thumbnails and IF the rose is one that they advertise for sale then it might be 'Joseph's Coat'. I don't see anything else close among the thumbnails. Their picture of a bloom appears to be something less than fully double, though. You might visit the same page I was glancing through and see whether you see something else that comes close. We just are not a very GardenWeb pretrade bunch we just seem to show up and have fun. We have 18 RSVP's to the evite and about 10 more that I know are planning to come. It's just about 12 days until the swap. Here is the usual info and map link. Here is the basic outline for our swap. The swap usually starts at 9am sharp and we usually do door prizes and a potluck lunch around noon(or before if we get hungry!). It's usually all over by 1:30 depending on weather and how many people come. As for what to bring, the options are wide open. Plants of course, either divisions of your perennials, or cuttings you started or seeds you collected and labeled. Sometimes people bring whole plants they decided they didn't like anymore or didn't have room for. Also, if making new plants is not your thing, you can bring gardening related items, books, terra cotta pots, tools, etc... People are generally very generous and eager to make newbies feel welcome so there are no hard and fast rules about what you can bring. Also, most gardeners just don't want to take any of their own stuff back home so they are often not expecting an "even trade". Please do not take an item from someone's area without asking. A good idea is to bring an extra box to put under your table for the plants you have swapped and are taking home. Items under the tables are off limits. Also, we do have a donation jar if you want to help with the pavilion rental fee. There is also a list of things you may find useful to bring: camp chair or stool card table (there are no tables provided at the Buda pavilion) extra plant labels and marker extra plastic pots - usually someone needs these plastic bags for transporting goodies plastic nursery trays for transporting goodies gardening item to donate for door prize (optional) Your favorite food or drink for the potluck. I was just saying the other day what a perfect size mini muffins are. A mouthful. A taste. A few nibbles. Enough to deal with a craving (well, maybe that's two or three LOL!!)

I am lusting after the cookbook.

And the scale!! AWESOME!

Brenda, I love the picture of Aleksi with her very own waffle maker. You'll have to let us know how the waffles turn out!

What a wonderful swap package! I'll add my list to the name of one who would love to own one of those scales. I have a scale that I use almost daily but it only goes up to 10 oz, so I have to divide everything, lol. My christmas list just keeps growing because of these swaps.
The cookbook looks great, and what a wonderful pan. Being able to make 24 at a time is a real plus! Enjoy it all!

That is a very classic cool scale, that looks cool sitting out on the counter..which means it will get used more! Who doesn't love cookbooks? Especially big ones with pictures!
I have two 24 count mini muffin pans..LOVE THEM!
And that waffle maker..what little girl wouldn't love that!

Very nice, Lori....Brenda, you'll love the mini muffin pan...I use mine all the time. Great scale and I'm sure the cookbook is full of good stuff. The waffle maker (and Aleksi!) is adorable.

Ha...funny you say everything was wrapped so nice - Mackenzie did it. My 6 yr old is "tape happy." I'm surprised you even got it open. She wraps better than I do, but does tend to go overkill on tape.

I'm thrilled you like everything, Brenda. I had fun shopping and was a little worried about the scale. I love mine, but I wanted to get something I knew you'd use, but after talking to you, I know it's the perfect thing. Whew!

My kids pop the little cupcakes in their mouths constantly, but I thought they were a perfect size for Aleksi. Not too much sugar overload for a little one. LOL

Mackenzie "waffled" back and forth between the waffle maker and toaster. I'm glad she chose what happened to be Aleksi's favorite (from one princess to another).

Brenda, your email and speaking to you today were the highlights of my day. I'm thrilled you like everything and just as happy that we have made a new friendship.

The kitchen scale is a truly useful item and I love King Arthur's recipes. That muffin pan, though, now THAT'S a great idea.

I'm afraid I have scale lust! That's so much nicer than mine. I really can't cook without a scale and that one is really great looking. Mini muffins are fun and The King Arthur book looks good. I keep talking myself out of it.

But that picture of the happy princess with her waffle maker is the best!

i love everything you received. i too have that muffin pan and it's just perfect.

the scale looks great. does that bowl detach? i get so much use out of my scale as i am sure you will yours.

your daughter is adorable and how wonderful that she was remembered!

What a cutie pie Aleksi is, and she'll have such fun making waffles! How cool to include Mackenzie to send her favorite, too! Great package, the scale is such a great idea and it all fits together so nicely with the muffin pan and the King Arthur Cookbook! Looking forward to hearing about some great muffin recipes! Diana, it's so funny you mention that about your names ending with 55. If you remember, you were my swap buddy last time, and I remember being paranoid I'd research the wrong person and send something that didn't make sense.

Well, I did the same thing this time too...paranoia on my part. I'd read something, then go back and make sure it was Brenda and not diana. I'm just a little OCD. LOL

(I won't even tell you how many times I proofread this. I have issues. LOL)

Lori you did good. Brenda you will find lots of great recipes in the The King Arthur Cookbook. I have a mini muffin tin and it is perfect not just for muffins but for mini tarts too.

How special that Lori thought of Aleksi.

Lovely swap package, I really love that scale. I also have one but not to the weight of yours. And that cupcake pan will come in handy with your little one. I like Ann's idea of using it for tarts. The King Arthur cookbook looks like a Joy of Cooking Bread and cakes?

Wow, what a great package! That scale is fabulous and I can't wait to see what you make from that cookbook! I love my mini muffin pans (all 6 of them! haha!) Use them for all kinds of things.

Oh how adorable! I love Aleksi and her delight over her very own "surprise". But this is another great "theme" package. I've been dying to get my hands on one of the KA boks and the scale is a BRILLIANT idea! How funny about the wish list.

I find it pretty interesting that a lot of us are ending up with the same favorites...even if we never knew it before.

Brenda, what a nice swap package, love those mini muffin pans. Lots of good recipes in that cookbook. Wish my scale had a bowl as big as yours, mine is a tiny little almost flat bowl. I bet Aleksi was a happy little girl with her own swap box. Great job, Lori!

I have mini muffin tins and they get USED, from mini cheesecakes, to quiches, and anything I can think of to put in frozen puff pastry.

I remember well your recent trip out here to Disneyland, Brenda. I still remember the shots of Aleksi with one of the princesses (Cinderella?) and how happy she looked. Ah to be young again! A wonderful, sweet gift from one up-and-coming CFer to another.
