french bread loaf?

Butter and garlic? cheese? herbs?

I've got a Garlic Chicken Lasagna in the oven, and I picked up a fresh loaf of French Bread.

Not sure what I want to do to it for serving.

Maybe all of the above....

How do you like to serve it?

    No problem Terri. LOL!

Here is what I would do.

Home Cookin Chapter: Recipes From Thibeault's Table

    =============================
Long loaf of Italian Bread or long crusty rolls.

    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup gorgonzola cheese
    1 to 2 cloves garlic
    parsley
    salt
    pepper
    fresh grated parmesan cheese

    Optional: Basil or Oregano
. Cream the butter with the gorgonzola cheese.

Mince garlic and add to cheese mixture. Add chopped parsley, and
    season with salt and pepper.

If using the basil or the oregano add now as well.

Leave loaf whole, but cut slices so that the loaf stays together.
Spread cheese mixture in between each slice and reshape loaf. Sprinkle
top of loaf with parmesan cheese and wrap in foil. Place in 400°F oven
for 10 or 15 minutes and serve hot.

    Don't have any gorgonzola...
I've got ricotta and other shredded cheeses...
But I like the idea of this.
    I'll figure out something.
    Thanks for the direction Ann..
Okay back out to finish the backyard....
Had to come in and turn the oven to "keep warm". When I'm done with the lawn, I'll take out the lasagna and pop the oven back up..
Boy is it warm in here! LOL

I keep garlic butter on hand at all times and use it to make garlic toast or sometimes I heat the bread wrapped in foil after I've inserted garlic butter in the slits (almost slices) that I've made. I often add Parmesan to bread that I'm heating up but not to toast.

I add garlic butter to marinara sauce and many other things that I make, including rice.

    Thanks Lars..great tip and recipe!

Yeah Weed..some of us are slower than others....I was in "fly by" mode. LOL

I used an italian cheese blend I had in the fridge, butter and some italian seasoning.
Cut the loaf in "slices" almost through and smeared the cheese herbed butter in each slice...
    It was good that way.
    Thanks Ann for that tip!
