Okay, here is the information on the swap.

If you are interested in participating in this swap please post to this thread between now and 6:00 PM Thursday, October 30th.

If you haven't participate before, make sure you email me as soon as possible with your full name and address. And if anyone has moved recently please make sure I have your current address.

This is a "secret partner" Swap. You won't know who your partner is until your swap box arrives.

Theme: Three item/three category swap.

Category 1 - Pottery/glass

Category 2 - paper/textiles

Category 3 - One item Your Choice

The rules are the same as the previous swaps.

1.

New members are welcome to join in the fun as long as they have been active on the forum for at least three months AND have posted a minimum of 20 times since July 23rd, 2008. Most members prefer to send and receive from people that they have come to know. If you don't qualify for this swap, please continue to post so that you can play in the next Swap.

You must commit to spending a minimum of $30.00 on your swap box. This is the minimum. There is no maximum. The cost of Shipping is EXTRA.

Mail your gift box on or before the "Mailing Date" of Friday , November 21st, 2008.

Once the packages have started to arrive please try and participate on some of the follow-up threads.

hi all, I'm planning on coming - if I can get root to go with me and split the fuel costs! I'm updating my swap list and my want list this evening. I dug out an entire bed and where I thought I might have a few hundred bulbs, I have thousands. However, my daughter's boyfriend was so kind to dig it out for me. Therefore, I have a wheelbarrow load of bulbs, and 3 - 5 gal buckets full. I know what they all are and will try to separate them, but it's bulb time with no cultivar names. I know which are daffodils (mixed cultivars), which are lycoris (all the lycoris are th radiata), I have tons of muscari (all americana - the plain purple), crocus (mixed cultivars), lilies (mixed orientals and asiatics), daylilies (mixed hybrid cultivars - no ditch lilies), etc. Fran, I've tried Gunnera twice and both times, believe it or not, it rotted on me. Both times it came up about 5", but then died and when I checked the bulb, it was soft and mushy. I thought Gunnera was a water plant. Questions for all you guys. I have a hardy Tapioca. I've had it 3 years now, it's in the greenhouse - never taken the time to plant it out in the yard. 1st question - can I plant it out now or should I wait until spring? 2nd question - It has a fruit on it. Hi All, I've been so busy. I made cookies and stuff all night after work and then I answered some email. I wasn't going to write anything tonight because I'm tired. I was ready to go to bed but I realized it may be awhile until I can post again. So I want to tell the story I promised before. 11 years ago in August, Gary's brother, Joe, died helping a motorist who's car had been hit on a major highway. He got struck by a motorcycle that was speeding and then a car driven by a drunk driver. It was as you can imagine was quite an awful time. We as a family decided to donate all of Joe's organs. We felt that he died trying to help someone and it is what he would of wanted. Thanksgiving with Gary's family wasn't the best that year of course. Christmas as far as I could see wasn't going to be much better. On Christmas morning Gary and I got up. He was watching tv, and I was reading the newspaper. I started to read the letter to the editor part of the paper. There was letter from a woman from NJ writing to thank the family who made the decision to donate the organs of the man who had died on the highway. At that point, I just started to whell up with tears and Gary of course couldn't figure out why the paper would make me cry. I tried to read out loud to him, but I couldn't get it out and by that time I was bawling. The woman's brother had received Joe's heart, and surely would of died. It was a wonderful thing she did sending that letter. We were very sad, but we were also very happy to know that people were alive because of him. It made a tough Christmas bearable. So the best gift we ever got cost no more than the time it took her to write a letter and the stamp to mail it. (As a side note,Gary's parents eventually found out about all the people(info without names) he helped. And they did meet the man who got his lungs and became friends with him. They also are active members in UNYTS, the local organ donor group. Also the next year Gary's sister had a baby, the first grandchild. There's nothing like a baby to help lift people's spirits.) Ok, I've got to go to bed. Tomorrow is a long day at work, and then I've got to visit my baby brother and his family in the evening. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, Remy

Sharon, thanks for asking for clarification.

Its one item for each category. The only way to send more than one item per category is to send a set of something that comes naturally or is bought as a set.

Examples would be: Salt and Pepper grinders, matching table cloth and napkins,, salad bowl set, a set of wine glasses, cocktail plates, etc.

Putting together three or four or more items bought individually and calling it a set doesn't not qualify.

Darn! I had so much fun last time. I will have to sit (or lie down) for this one. I am in bed with pneumonia, had it in June also, so it has really knocked me out. I will look forward to the next one.

Add me in for this one. I haven't figured out the paper thing yet (although I have a lot of experience with textiles), but I'll do that when I find out who my partner is.

Barb, I hope you recover from your pneumonia - that's much worse than what I went through today. Pneumonia can be very dangerous. Are they able to give you anything for it?

I have been on antibiotics. I am on prednisone, inhalor, codeine, a flutter thing that I need to blow on, and bed rest. I feel better today, than I did yesterday. And to think..it's not even flu season. I will look forward to hearing about your swap.

Remember it is one item per category. Not one each of Paper and textiles. Lars, Cook books come to mind when I think of Paper.

Barb, I sure hope you're better soon, I know three people who have pneumonia already this year and it's only October.

I'm going to have to sit this one out too, all my extra time is spent dealing with family issues at this point.

I'll watch from the sidelines again, maybe my life will be boring by the time the next one comes around.

Ann, I'm sad to report that as much as I'd like to be a player, I just can't swing all of my responsibilities and a swap partner too! I've been thinking about it all day, and I don't know when I'd fit it all in. 3 aging parents is doing me in!
So I'll be watching from the sidelines and happy to gather info for those who need it!

Ohgood, I was afraid I was too late. I almost decided against it, but I think I can manage a three week deadline. DH broke his leg and we're still waiting for surgery. I would think after his leg is all plated and screwed back together he won't need constant care and I can get away to shop.

Oh, I know it's going to be a fun swap for everyone that participates, but like others have done, I've thought and thought about this one, and have come to the decision that I just can't swing it this time. Happy swapping everyone that's joining in, and I'll enjoy watching from the sidelines.
