I have been gone all day and just got home and my swap box was here. It is wonderful, Picnic and Day Dreams in the Garden Kit. What a perfect theme for me, I went to a friends house this morning, she has a smoker and we have smoked meat, made pies, cookies and fried pies to freeze and use during harvest (which depending on the weather could start next week.)

Pamela enclosed the nicest card and said that she had friends in Michigan and they were farmers and saw the "mountains" of food that were cooked for the men during harvest (and that is right.)

Pamela said she went to a Harry & David store for the first time and went a little crazy. Well, lucky for me!!

These are the food items

The tea party collection, I am a tea drinker and I will enjoy trying these,

Tuscan Rustic Wafers, Tapenade Sweet Pepper Spread (will be so good on the wafers,) Double Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies (they are really good) and Quick and Easy Scone Mix. I just can't wait to try the scone mix, did I say how good the chocolate cookies are?

The beautiful card, candy bubbles for Blake, I don't remember even mentioning how much he likes bubbles, we blow lots of bubbles and the prettiest sugar cookie, yes that is a cookie. I want to eat it, but it is too pretty, I hope I can hold out a little while longer.

The cutest tea towel with little bumble bees embroidered on it. I absolutely love this plate and matching mug. I will be having tea on the patio in the morning!

And a beautiful insulated bag, I just love it!

Pamela, I cannot Thank you enough, you picked the perfect package for me and I can assure you that I will be having a picnic in the garden and relaxing!

I just tried the red pepper spread on the wafers (crackers) and it is delicious.
Well I tried it about five times and had to put it up.

Karen--you are so welcome. I have been feeling so badly. I sent your package on Sept. 9 and I can't believe how long it took to get to you. Lesson learned: always send priority. You must've picked up the mail every day and sighed "no package today, again."

It was such fun shopping for you, and I hope you enjoy. I tried to find a few things that would last after the goodies were consumed.

Hope you'll share some of your harvest recipe "winners" this fall. I'll be saying a prayer that your Texas is spared the hurricane's wrath.

dilly dally - I had to laugh at your idea of inserting fake flowers in with the real. I had a friend that was a great gardener, and one day in February I drove by and she had some beautiful flowers blooming. I said "I can't believe you already have flowers blooming! What kind are they?" "Fake ones" she said. haha - she had planted them so well in with other stuff that they looked real! I agree it's not very creative to buy a pre-planned package. I hadn't that of the 'room store' scenario! lol But, I've been going over what they're sending, and I'm excited because there's stuff in there I have been wanting to try out, but was too scared to spend money on, and some things I have never heard of (hopefully I've never heard of them because they're new, not because they don't grow here!). It'll definitely be a great way for me to learn about some new perennials I never would have tried otherwise.

lollol I had a feeling Gizmo was going to make an appearance in this thread. Okay, so Mike (of London) posted a link to The Secret Life of Plants in a different thread, but my reactions had more to do with this topic, so I'm just going to link that thread below. First I'm glad I watched it because it helped me articulate something I failed to when I voiced that horrible question about choosing between pets and plants. (Which I always knew was as ridiculous as choosing between mums and dads) That is, although it certainly seems a lot easier (or faster, anyway) to bond with our animal friends, who rub and frolic and keep us warm, I feel a real communication/chemistry with my plant roommates. A relationship that (dare I say it) seems more MATURE than the one I have with that Zeno. Like my plants handle themselves like adults and get my music, whereas Zeno is a total kid. The other day I saw an Ikea plant (of the large palm variety) in the gross little closet that holds the apartment trash chute. It looked like it had lost most of its limbs and only had one green chute powering along. And it just made me sick, thinking of it dying there, slowly, shut off from light and water because some jerk had adopted it and then proceeded to suck as a friend. I guess it's thinking of THAT plant that made me struggle with the question, not a lack of total codependent bonding with Zeno. I hope you guys have all stopped pitying my stealthy black fuzzball now. :3 Second I think I might need to reassess the plant versus pet situation. I mean, if cabbages can identify perps in a lineup, presumably, my plants can recognize Zeno, and who am I to assume that they HATE him? It could be that all this time I was not just protecting them from his occassional nibbles and tippings, but I was also depriving them of his inquisitive sniffs and rubs. I mean, MOST of the time, he isn't intent on mangling them. Maybe they are sensing his positive energy as he noses around thinking: What's that interesting smell? That's YOU! And then the little streptocarpus stands up a little more proudly in its dish. I'm going to have to mull this over... That said, you guys are AWESOME! Lemon and netting. Check. I brought back truffle oil, garden seeds, olive oil and wine. Italian seed packets are huge. Also, they add nothing to the weight and bulk of your luggage. The olive oil and wine were from a vineyard/olive grove tour. Four bottles were packaged for travel. Bologna is the main objective for my next trip to Italy. From what I've learned, it has the food I would most enjoy in all of Italy. That should be quite wonderful, since all the food I ate on my trip to the region around Florence was wonderful. For a month after that trip, I tried to duplicate those dishes on a daily basis. I did quite well for a while but now the memory needs refreshing. I need another trip. Mementos to bring home would be a low priority for me. The live experience is what's important -- the meals, the wine, the sights, the creature comforts which are abundant and essential to Italian life. They can't be packaged. The glass and pottery are beautiful though. I would probably shop for one of those serving bowls. Also, Italian shoes are the finest. Have a great trip. Jim

Ladies may I join you in this discussion? I am a young healthy looking 62. And today is my first visit here after looking up adrenaline I sure understand better now That's what I have going on MY NATURE'S PACE MAKER.working. Adrenaline After a stay in icu heart recently everyone finally agreed i am mot crazy.it was.my heart. The docs installed is a device catch my heart acting badly is a heart tracker like halter monitor. Under my chest muscles on top of my heart. I can cause it record what just happened.. iam write with excitment because your stories are all so familiar. These stories for me begin after mitral valve repair. 7 years ago. Basic problem ..unless the doc sees the heart behaving badly they deny the problem. All this time we never could catch it Last doc said bluntly if we dont see it didnt happen. You must to er Well recent at 230 am it woke me up, just as you have described. I went directly to the er They caught the serious thing! Arrithemia and more then two days in icu. Now meds have slowed my heart from 70 to 52 while docs decide what to do. Last night I realized I was having an adreilin rush. The same rush I went to a neurologist for help. Over a year and half. Often it also affect my skin. Goose bumps crawling feeling all day long! Well have I got news for him.I was not crazy about that either. my gp I visited last month just to say. I know you don't know what is wrong but I still got it. Knows too I sat in neros office two months ago ,,,same thing. I said dr i just want you know ME when I end up in er..and i need you. well it was er straight to icu. Home now with electrical issues. Last last night meds have my average at 52 bpm.it woke me. 2 3 am. I use my tricks to get back to sleep.as soon as felt sleep coming on the stomach feeling spread. It woke me up heart pounding.sweat .out of breath!!! Happened several times . then checked average heart rate on my Garmin. 48. Average 48 so i was probably lower. Maybe 45! My natural pace maker kicked in every time sleep lowered bpm and I was short on air. Natural pace maker? Adrenaline can't wait to see what was recorded on my device Thank you body! Now I think i know what as going on for long time hidden from doc view. Electric shock adrenaline style

The insulated bag is such a good idea, and Trixie is going to need a cup of tea after harvest, just to relax!

That's a very creative theme, Pamela. I'd tell Trixie to enjoy her package but I have a feeling she's busy, eating that tapenade. :-)

Even I was starting to worry along with Pamela. What a nice package. I can't believe the cookie. I thought it was a candle. The insulated bag is really cool. No pun intended. Enjoy!

What a thoughtful swap package. I like the insulated bag! I've used a much less glamorous one from Sam's Club to bring home frozen foods. Nice to have a bag in the trunk in case you shop one place and have to stop another before going home.

Have a good picnic in the garden and enjoy the fall - after the rain leaves Texas.

What a nice package Karen. I love trying different teas but my favorite would have to be (of course) the towel with the, ahem, honey bees. Being a beekeeper I can readily identify them LOL. Nice job Pamela!!
