Deanna Hit a Home Run............

............with the perfect swap gift.

I'm absolutely thrilled with everything Deanna sent me. I bought a new grill two weeks ago and was actually thinking about buying new grilling utensils. Now I'm all set to go.

Each of Deanna's gifts came packaged as a legitimate set - so no cheating.

Set #1

BBQ Utensils - Large turner, tongs, and a fork.

Set #2

Kitchenaide skewers. These will be just perfect for my favourite chicken souvlaki. And what I love about them is that there is a little slider thingie at the handle end to support the first piece of meat and stop it from sliding further up the skewer.

and Set#3

I've always wanted one of these but just never bought one - A branding Iron. The first thing I did was set it with "Moe and Ann". Can't wait to grill a steak.

Everything went just fine. I actually still have LOTS of appliances still in boxes because the old ones are still working just fine. The insurance company picked up a large screen TV, an air compressor, and some older stereo equipment, along with 1 refrigerator, 1 range, and a freezer. All the rest of the appliances, including boom boxes, cameras on docks, and anything that was plugged in, except lamps, was replaced - practically at the insistence of the adjuster. I would have turned in a claim of less than $1,000, but it ended up being about $60,000 after all was over. Everything electrical in the house is new, including the central air, boiler parts other than the boiler proper (we have HW heat). Auto Owners was my carrier, and I have to say they went so far beyond what I ever expected ...... so all is well, Mike. Thanks. Summer started early here. We've had some REALLY warm days, for MI, and our last frost was around May 7, where last year we had several frosts all through May, with several at intervals between the 15th (our supposed last frost day), right up until the two we had Mem Day weekend. Hi to both Marys. Last year was my first time winter sowing. Had mixed results, but am back again this year with about 200 jugs planted thus far. Started in late Dec. and am still planting every time a trade or round robin comes in. It's not too late. Everything sprouts at it's own right time. I will start planting my annuals soon as our weather settles down abit. We are still getting snow and hail squalls here in Washington. Talk about your crazy weather. There's no sign of globle warming here. I have about 20 gallon jugs sprouted thus far. We are not crazy. Unless we're crazy like a fox. I will have at least 100 new types of perennials, shrubs and trees this year all for the price of some potting soil and a few stamps and bubble envelopes. Imagine what it would all cost if we bought those plants at a nursery. Connie

In addition to the above, large native maples have large, aggressive root systems, effectively hogging any soil moisture and available nutrients away from smaller plants. That dry, rooty and shady condition makes establishing shrubs, and specifically those that aren't particularly very shade or drought tolerant, quite a challenge. He doesn't seem to have a good grasp on the situation - I'd seriously reconsider using his services.

I bet some of these rapid sales have a personal factor involved. This is what happened for me when I sold my condo years ago (2006? Time period). We got an acceptable offer from a single girl who reminded me a lot of myself when I first bought the place. Two more folks had looked at the place in between when she looked at it and brought her parents back to look at it. One of them had their agent contact ours to let him know we'd be receiving an offer the next day. But we wanted to sell to this girl so we accepted her offer anyway. The sale was smooth sailing and selling that place was part of the reason we were able to buy the house we finally bought this year.

Deanna! I know that Ann will enjoy all her goodies! Grilling is one of her favorite ways to prepare food. Mine too, so I know how much

I like the branding iron. I'm sure your guests will get a kick out of it, Ann! Those sliders are cool for getting the meat OFF the skewers as well. No more trying to slide the meat off with a fork or knife.

Very attractive and useful package! I can think of lots of messages that you can make with the branding iron - it looks like a lot of fun. Did it come with numerals? Can you buy extra letters? It's like a printing press for meat! Now I really wish I could grill steaks - I wonder if it would work with tuna. How difficult will it be to change the message between steaks?

How perfect!! LOL, I'm with the others in imagining Moe being a littttle worried about that branding iron. I've always thought they were cool. The bbq set is really nice. I love how they now do the spatula with the nice cutting edges. Great idea. The tongs have nice grips on them too. I really like the skewers too. Ann, you like the stop towards the handle but I like how they twist at the other end to help things from sliding off in that direction. What timely thoughtful gifts. For sure ones you'll get tons of use from. Great choices Deanna!

I also like the branding iron, just think of the things you could put on a steak, LOL, or on....um.....toast and lots of other things. (grin)
