Gran was clearly hurt by someone's comments. Beyond that, there's A LOT of assumptions being made about her here, probably compounding that hurt. So where's all the self-professed - ad nauseam - wonderful, caring, Christian, loving, blah, blah, blah fellowship that should be manifesting itself in empathy toward her? Instead, many people have chosen to express how THEY feel or have felt. ME, ME, ME. For all the "I'm so wonderful because" . . . comments on these forums, please explain to me how any of the following comments are "constructive" here: trotting out social bromides Who died and made the critic the authority on proper social behavior; audacity to issue an edict; rudely demanded better behavior; lecturing the masses; I don't know or care about the OP a really bad hormonal malfunction day jump out at us again instruct this group on how to behave, what they should post, and how to post it. chastise other members beat about the head I don't care I continually find it amazing that some of you who spend inordinate amounts of time posting on these forums DO think that you have an elevated status. This is a public forum. You don't own it by virtue of squatting here. There's a BIG difference between constructive criticism and cruel criticism, and IMO, there are plenty of times that people on this forum take advantage of their anonymity to be unnecessarily harsh or just plain mean. In those instances, there is no intention to help the OP at all but, rather, an opportunity for someone with low self esteem to puff up by bragging, or putting down someone else in order to build themself up. I would like to know what Gran is referring to also, but I can't blame her for not returning. I'm sorry that your feelings were hurt, Gran. I hope that you will stick around and continue to lurk, or even post again, NO MATTER AT WHAT INTERVAL. As you wade through this thread's comments, you will see the intelligence shine through in the comments that are made with care and thoughtfulness, in an effort to be kind and helpful. They're worth digging around for. As you read more threads on these forums, you'll recognize these people by their manner, and their advice/comments will come to be of value to you. As for the others, let their obnoxiousness be like water on a duck. Unfortunately, you do have to have a thick skin at times, but consider the sources. There is a lot of great info here and there are people who do truly want to help, not hurt. I personally feel that it IS important to be considerate. Am I perfect in this regard? Nope. But I try to be, and I see less and less consideration and empathy around me every day. It IS sad. If I were the person who hurt Gran's feelings, I would feel lousy and want to apologize.

Yes, most of the time the wacky heating oil conspiracy theories are false. The most popular conspiracy theories are that *full service* heating oil companies purposely install oversized equipment or oversized nozzles in order to sell more fuel. Simple Economics (The Demand for Lower Priced Installations, Cheap Service and Competitive Bidding) are responsible for the majority of unlicensed no permit-no inspection installations, corner cutting, code violations, oversized equipment, oversized nozzles, poor system design, poor burner setup and poor standard/annual/emergency service. Since professional installations and professional standard/annual/emergency service charges are very expensive, many people choose lower priced installers and lower price service people that cut corners in order to offer lower prices. The conspiracy theories don't jive with the way our free market system operates. If we installed oversized equipment, oversized nozzles, and performed poor annual service, we'd lose fuel customers, installation customers, annual service customers, standard service customers, emergency service customers, service contract customers, and customer referrals. Since many companies rely on repeat business, long term customers, customer referrals and new customers, poor installations and service would kill off a large portion of their existing and future market. Many rural small tank low usage customers own their tanks/regulators and transport them to the filling stations to save money. Propane isn't competitive like heating oil and kerosene in some regions since their aren't as many delivery companies in comparison to Full Service, COD and Mom and Pop Oil Companies.

We live on an acreage in a rural area. For the most part, I have had nothing short of excellent service getting my parcels here and on time and right on the doorstep. This is important to me as I can’t drive right now due to two hip replacements . However I’ve had a few exceptions one being a few years ago I ordered an iPad for my husband for Christmas and whoever delivered it just must’ve flown it out the window to the end of our snow covered driveway and it landed in the ditch in the snow . Luckily we got home before the snow started again and I was able to spot the package and had to slog through the already deep snow to retrieve it. Thankfully it wasn’t damaged . And as I said for the most time packages come right to the door which is great but the odd time if I haven’t made it to the door fast enough they will take the package and drop it at the post office for me to pick up This is a huge inconvenience for me because I have to get my husband to pick it up on his way home from work which also means he has to leave work early as the post office closes before he would normally get there .

Winter, you've been quite unlucky but your experience suggests it was a Marketplace seller? You may be right but in this case I rather doubt it. If I hadn't ordered the same product twice before from Amazon...with no send/delivery problems...I wouldn't have been so flummoxed. The telephone representative was extremely rude and refused to listen to logic. It was a rather harrowing experience. Particularly considering that I had just ordered and paid for an $800+ computer through them. It was delivered with no problems. Perhaps it depends on the $$$ size of the order. I don't know. But it sure threw me off from any future business with them. I ate the orders that were damaged and likely...as you suggest...from an outside vendor. It just wasn't worth the hassle to try to return the items. Instead, I donated them and repurchased them locally. I live out in the country with no close access to UPS and I no longer drive. They're a terrible delivery service where I live and returning merchandise is a massive mission not often successful. I did return the one of the three ordered containers of Lutein incorrectly sent and I had to call UPS to return a second time to give me the return label/packaging because they never rang my front doorbell when they said they had attempted to reach me. I had no idea they had even stopped here. They in turn explained that Amazon tells them how many times they can return to the customer to pick up an order. Amazon had directed UPS to only stop once. The UPS driver did not leave any return data and I subsequently was charged over $7 for the UPS truck to return a second time. Oddly enough...I had explained the difficulty I would entail trying to return the package via UPS to the Amazon rep on the phone. A lot of good that did. In one ear and out the other. If it hadn't been for a very nice lady at the UPS office...I'd still be holding that bottle. She took pity on me and sent the driver back with the return label, etc goods. I met him at the door and had him wait while I put the package in the UPS return envelope. He didn't move an inch and smiled nicely as he took it and left. The whole experience was dreadful and one I do not wish to repeat for any reason. I wasted more time and patience trying to pleasantly settle the whole mess with Amazon. They, in turn, IMO...took advantage of my pleasant disposition and...in the vernacular...stuck it to me. Fortunately...my new computer is a major brand [Lenovo] and if I have any trouble with it...I don't have to return to Amazon. I saved a considerable amount of $$$ buying it through Amazon so perhaps that should make up for all the angst they gave me over what should have been 3 containers of Lutein.
