WANTED: I'm finally home!

I will get my swap partner's package in the mail on Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday at the LATEST. I have things packed in various bags and it will take me a few days to get all unpacked and settled. :) Sunny

Hi Jay, I don't know what town houses run in your neck of the woods but we had to get out of the city because we were looking at 1000 bucks a month + utilities. In the town we are moving to we will pay 800 bucks a month + utilities. There is about 200 bucks difference in living costs between the 2 cities.that means more palms and tropicals in the long run..lol. Actually it means I will be able to afford diapers and wet wipes..LMAO jeff jeff

My end of the state has weathered the real estate mess fairly well. Numbers are out for the first quarter and, though down quite a bit from 2008 comparables in units sold, but both median and average prices have continued to climb. Apparently folks refuse to turn this area into a buyer's market (it was a seller's market until November when it went neutral) and have pulled their houses off the market as the number of homes currently on the market in the area is the lowest since 2002. Needless to say this is not a foreclosure area. The $8K for first time buyers apparently helped a lot because because future activity for April is up 44% over closed activity for February, and up 5% from April 2008 when it was still a seller's market. Looks like we'll be back to a seller's market as of right now once the final April numbers are in. The house across the street from my parent's went up two weeks ago and lasted four days... and it was prolonged due to a bidding war. It may be people have spotted a bottom in some areas. In my market we were fortunate to never really have had a "bottom", just a slow five months.

Well....I ended up going back to work. Didn't want to at all. My boss gave a deal I couldn't refuse. He's paying me for 8 hours and I only have to work 4, so I'm making twice as much for 1/2 the time, and he's letting me bring my new dog! Every excuse or reason I had, he had an offer. It's a good idea. My hospital bills came in, and my credit is at risk. So I haven't been able to mosaic, or do much of anything I planned. I have trouble sitting for long periods of time, and it still hurts to walk around, so I just can't win. I lay in bed with my dog too much. So at least it gets me out and about 1/2 the day. Thanks so much for all the caring comments. You guys are the best. I feel bad coming here these days. I don't have projects to share, and you still welcome me. After reading about Flagtrucks heart attack it really made me think. I need to get off my butt and get back to what I love! She is just too amaing. Makes me feel awful about how I have taken this accident. She is quite an inspiration! You are the best group around! I thank god for you all!

Someone wants to look at my house and I'm not ready

When we were building, we put our house on the market and sold it the first week. The buyers needed to close within 90 days or lose their quoted mortgage rate so we closed in September although our house wasn’t going to be ready until January. We rented our house back from them but here’s the deal with that. Unlike a normal renter/tenant agreement, we would have been responsible if anything broke, such as furnace, stove, etc. When January came, our new house was not even close to being ready but the owners wanted their house. It was hard to find housing for less than a year lease but we were lucky our builder had another development of apartments that we rented for five months until our house was ready. The stress was incredible, moving twice during that time and we had to put most of our furniture in storage. This time, we just bought a condo and now have to list our home. I’m not sure which is more stressful. I wish you luck on your move.

It was maggie, but before I signed up I asked if it was OK if I was late. I was on "vacation" (vacation really means not seeing your extended family, IMO, but that is what I was doing) in Illinois and Wisconsin, and did not get back until last night.

I have not been on here much for a while, because of school, but lots of people know me, and I don't think the ones who do are too worried that I will skip out on them. I just wanted people to know that if they hadn't received thier package, it might be because I have his or her name.

Riverrat, like I said, we were visiting family. "vacation" is not the word. Around here we have replaced it with "the family ordeal". It was like it usually is. A mixture of the good, the fairly pathetic, the irritating and the bad.

The night before my birthday, my step-grandfather in Fla died. We were all pretty preoccupied with that for a while. I did not get to see enough of some people, and I saw too much of others (I am sure they would say the same about me), but I am glad we went. It has gotten to where we only go every other year because once in a while we like to do something FUN. lol

I want to add that I had a really fun time shopping for my swap partner. And I learned that for me, there is no "mini" swap. I just couldn't do it. I got carried away. It was great fun though!

So sorry also to hear about your step grandfather, and welcome back. Were you able to go to Florida? I think swap rules are certainly bendable to allow for unexpected circumstances, and I hope you are able to help comfort your family at this time.

No trip to Florida for me. The drive to and from Wisconsin was all I could take.

It was a sad time for us all, but mostly because my Grandmother was so sad, and so far away from us. The man was not exactly cuddly. He could be a bit of a tyrant, and as a result his son did not talk to him for 18 years. BUT he did come to make peace with him right at the end. It meant a lot to Tillman, and I think it is part of what allowed him to die. He was not a happy person, and we beleive he was ready to go.

Next month, the family members who were close to him will go to Georgia, where he was from, for a memorial.

I knew I was going to be late to send my package, and I appreciate being allowed to participate in spite of that. I enjoyed the shopping.

Now, to find a box that will work for mailing...

I also am sorry about your Step-Grandfather, and am glad that you made peace. As far as being late on the shipping, I think if Ann T knows ahead of time that it will be a little late, she is very patient and tolerant. It's only the people who are consistently late with no good reason who are naughty. We are looking forward to seeing where that package goes!

Life events, happy and sad, planned and unplanned have a way of interupting schedules for all our good intentions. We go with the flow.

I dropped the box off at the pack-n-ship (or whatever it's called) this morning at 10:30. I have a tracking number, so I will be daily monitering it's progress. I hope my swap partner likes it!

And, like another person or two on here, I forgot to put in the note with the theme and explainations! So, when my person gets her box, I will have to explain it.

Wheeeee!

Not to mention when I came home from my errands, I had a box on my porch!
