Lee, You are such a great swap buddy and friend!

Charles and I had a get together at our home for about 15 people last night. I was CLEANING the house and in walks hubby, for lunch, but he had a box with my name on it! I'm so excited! It's from Lee. The cleaning duties are now on hold! LOL!

I had a wonderful opportunity, last November, to meet Lee and Charlotte. DH, my son and I were flying out of Denver after a skiing vacation and Lee and Charlotte drove into Denver to take me to lunch. We had a wonderful visit and I'm looking forward to seeing them again this August during Paney Camp in NC.

Ann, You really do well matching us all up. Thank you for your hard work.

OK, onto the swap package from heaven. My 3 gifts came beautifully wrapped in nice summery colors.

I sure could have used these beautiful spreaders last night. Lee, these coordinate beautifully with some other items that have.

Wow, is all I can say. I love this platter! It is so me! I could have used this last night too. LOL!

Next is a book that I read the reviews on last year and promptly forgot about it. "Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously" by Julie Powell is a national bestseller and won the 2006 Quill Award. I needed a new book to read and this is perfect summer reading!

This is a picture of all my fabulous swap gifts. The card that Lee sent is so nice I think I may frame it! That's the card on the left with the Chinese fans and gold background.

Lee, You are so very generous and I thank you my friend! I will enjoy each item and think of you often because I plan to use them a lot.

That is a very sweet and beautifully wrapped package. I forgot about that book. It is one I had wanted to read. Isn't it about a woman who decides to cook everything in Julia Child's cookbook? I bet it's a great read.

The colors in the platter are so nice and I never have enough spreaders.

I received a great box of goodies from Cathys1951!!!! She sent the following seeds: nepeta (catmint), lithops, chocolate Joe Pye weed, unknown sedum, calendula, sumac, yellow tansy, lanceleaf coreopsis, nicotiana, ladybells, cinnamon fern, globe amaranth, liatris, sneezeweed, yellow rose, & Phillipine lily. As if that wasn't enough she also sent this cute little pot scrubber set that the bottom looks like a pot & the top one looks like a flower. She also sent a little kit with pumpkin seeds, soil, etc. for kids (which my daughter has claimed), a weave basket planter, 2 pretty flower pot stakes with birds on them, a bag of 25 plant labels, & what I needed most, a waterhose attachment (I'm not kidding either. The one this one immediately replaced was duct taped because the trigger was broken). Thank you so much!!!

Hi All, Not much going one here, just work, cleaning, etc. boring stuff. It will be exciting this week though. I'm going to a beer tasting/education on Tues. I have a web site meeting on Thurs. On Friday I'm going to Gardenscape which is the Rochester garden show I attend every year. It is a really nice one! I will also be working it too for the Rock Garden Society. Dottie, Congrats on the grandson! Lol, about getting over excited about the sprouts. Lettuce, broccoli family plants, and violas are very tough and can handle light freezes when they are babies. So you can take the lids off, but if it is going to dip really low like you said, you will need to re-cap them. Marie, I'm glad to hear of the good news!! Do we all have the wrong address now? lol. Your bloom is gorgeous! 4 years, you are a patient woman. Jeanne, Are those pics of flowers blooming now with your garden critters? If so I'm very jealous! Here's my stab at Carol's questions. 1. I have a statue overlooking my garden what is it ? gargoyle - I have one out front for Gary so I'll guess the same 2. I have several statues and faces of my favorite animal in my gardens what is it any how many do I have ? I have been out of town for several days "goofing off" on the California coast and in Southern Oregon. One thing I do well, is goof off...LOL! I did stop by the Baker Creek seed bank in Petaluma which is North of San Francisco...very cool! The seed bank, like the website, does have a great selection of seeds! I spent ALL DAY out shopping for my pal. Of course, along the way, I couldn't help but look for things I liked, too. I was in one big box store, in the garden section, bent over in front of the citrus trees and looking at the tags even though I knew I wasn't going to pay that much for a little tree. It was very hot and humid. Lady who cares for plants was watering a few isles down. Next thing I knew, she had sprayed (make that drenched) me, right on my upturned backside. She was squealing how sorry she was. I just thanked her for the cool down. Of course, I had to stay out there in the garden center awhile longer 'til I could leave w/o people thinking that I'd wet myself. And I don't even own an "I'm Hot" T-shirt. How'd she know I'd appreci8 a cool down?

Karen, you will need those spreaders to use with all the bread you'll be baking after Paney Camp (wish I could be there too). Really nice platter, very unique! The book sounds like a good read.... book report, please.

Oh my...spreaders! These are not often thought of but so needed! I have 2 but need about 6!

The platter is so pretty and festive!

Oh...that thing! Just kidding, I thought it was beautiful when I saw it in Lee and Charlotte's store and knew the color would complement Karen's decor.

As a side note: Lee alerted me to Karen's post about the platter. I have been avoiding the "Exchange" forum because I, with much regret, had to bow out of this summer's swap. I knew it would make me sad to be missing all of the fun of shopping for a partner and the anticipation of everyone's swap box.

I read that book and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's in California now:) Somewhere!

Karen, I'm glad it arrived safely; you never know if the delivery guys are going to play football with a a box marked fragile.

Swaps are always fun, and I was so happy to have you as a partner. I got Julie and Julia to read also; it will be fun to share reviews.

I'm looking forward to Paney Camp too - see you in a few weeks.

Ellen, It was a potluck! I prepared the orzo pasta salad that Jojoco posted and a 3 cheese platter with crackers. That salad it to die for! We have left overs for dinner tonight. The other dishes were Sam's Club fried chicken, 2 green bean casseroles, sausage jambalaya, Chocolate cake, cherry turnovers with vanilla ice cream and lots of wine ;-)

AH HA! I'm happy to know that Cathy, Lee and Charlotte all had a hand in choosing my items. It makes the package more special just knowing 3 friends helped.

Boo, that is such a nice compliment. You may not say that after spending a couple of days with me though ;-)

I can't believe I missed this one.

Having been the recipient also of one of Lee's platters, I can tell you she has AMAZING taste and an UNCANNY abilitiy to pick just the right thing for people and their homes!
