I received my swap box today...from our very own Queen of Cuisine and definately Food Porn Photographer Extraordinaire!

It held quite a wonderful colorful set of 3 suprises!

There's a reflection of fun in this one. I took a picture of Ann's pictures, and Ann took a picture of the swap items too, and it became the card with the what's and why's.

The items were: 1) 6 double sided placemats made from 2 of Ann's pictures Strawberry Shortcake and Salsa.

2) 4 hand painted wine goblets. Knowing that we don't really drink, Ann suggested I use these for guests or parfaits...I think I'll use them to drink water! Can't help but enjoy whatever comes out of these glasses!

3) 1 wonderful handcarved MAPLE cutting board. It's lovely! It reminds me of half a Ginseng leaf..I'm so glad to be among the chosen that now own one of these beautiful boards!

By the next time a swap rolls around i am going to have to learn askill.My only skill now is shopping -- but I am very good at it.

Ann, it's all wonderful and so unique. The placemats are cool. You were clever to think of that. I love the pretty goblets and the cutting board is very special. The wood grain is so pretty.

Thank you for sending such a nifty package to my former swap buddy, who sent such nice things to me. Terri deserved something out of this world, and she got it!

PG, I use a Sony Cybershot, 6.0 megapixels. It's a great camera...and very sleek and compact. If you're looking for a camera for just posting purposes, may I suggest looking on Ebay? You know I'm a huge Ebay fan, and getting a used (or sometimes new) camera may suit your needs and can be bought at a good price on Ebay. Maybe see what that Kodak you want is selling for in stores and then see what it's selling for on Ebay (it may not even be in stores anymore depending on how old it is). If you want I can check for you and send you the links to the auction pages with that camera...just let me know. Here are some flower shots of my multiflora from my camera (I'm not a very good photographer so I don't know if I'm doing my camera any justice by showing these!)

What a Thanksgiving! dS2 left today to drive back up north to college, dd and boyfriend left Thursday evening to back to their homes and jobs, Auntie left yesterday afternoon, still have MIL and DS1 and his gf. DH and his mom are tending the bonfire, DS and GF are playing tennis and I am taking a break in the library :-). We took MIL who has advancing dementia to local ballet school matinee performance of the Nutcracker today and she LOVED it, much to our surprise and delight! Biggest excitement--- daughter's boyfriend asked DH for our permission to ask her to marry him! We are keeping quiet as he plans to do this in a few weeks and we don't want spoil the surprise! We could not be happier as the young man is exactly who we would order as a SIL and he is truly devoted to our girl. Tired of cooking and serving, that's for sure! Mtn, I realized -- finally-- that I used a 9.5" springform pan instead of a 9" or 8", which is why it looked so flat. It was still delicious, though, and the apple pie from our local Methodist youth group was fantastic! And do you know, I am sending people home with their gingerbread house kits. We were having such a good time talking and visiting that the afternoon sped by with no need for a planned indoor activity! We will save ours for Christmas Eve when my nephews are staying over. Chibimimi, you are a veritable pioneer! I cannot imagine cooking over an open fire and really admire you for not giving in and running to the nearest restaurant. Bbstx, wine was definitely involved! We had a Viognier and a Beaujolais for our turkey dinner, and shooters of hot wassail spiked with spiced rum in mini christmas mugs. Let's just say it was pretty cheerful oPattyxlynn, what a great idea for a dessert/snack---- caramelized apple chips----and I'll bet your apple cinnamon loaves were delicious! I am often dubious of the photos I see on Pinterest.......they look like the product of a craft room staff, not a single harried individual with a pair of scissors and a roll of ribbon. Usually, my husband and I only fly once per year, for our ski trip out west. We bring our own equipment, which means that we have to bring along a long, heavy hard-shell case which holds our skis and poles. Yes, we could arrive without them and rent skis and poles, but it was very difficult for hubby to find a pair of skis that match the way he likes to ski. (He has been skiing for decades.) Oh, and they only made them for two model years, so the rental shops won't have them. I might be happy with whatever the ski rental shop recommends, but I also found it difficult to find a pair of skis that would let me ski the way I like. I make tiny, precise carved turns. We always keep our ski boots with us. After all the time and money invested in getting them the way we like, it would be awful to loose them. We use the rolling suitcases that fit under the seat, which can also fit at least one change of ski clothing, just in case our luggage is delayed or lost. Fortunately, Frontier Airlines, the airline that we are likely to use each year for our ski trip, still allows us to check one bag each. So one bag would be our ski case, and the other the suitcase carrying the rest of our clothes. We each get to bring a "personal item." My hubby carries a small backpack with our lunch and 2-ounce toiletries (+ my contact lenses, which I cannot ski without) and my personal item is my hand sewing project.

I cant help but post on this one! After a not so great summer so far, I have been kinda sitting out of trading and swaps. Just been lurking in the corners, so to speak. I cant believe how beautiful and thoughtful Ann's package is. I was feeling kinda down in the dumps today until I decided to drop by and see how the swap was going. Seeing how well you all treat each other, despite the fact that hardly any of you have met in person, makes me smile. Thanks to everyone for making my day a little brighter!

WOW...WOW....WOW!! What a fabulous package Ann put together for Terri!

The wine glasses are stunning!

And the cutting board could not be more unique and it would look fabulous any where and any time.

I would like to see an overhead shot of the placemats, please.

The whole package is the cat's pajamas! Who said wine glasses were just for wine anyway?! You know noone else has those placemats - how cool! And the gingko-leaf cutting board is gorgeous. Ann knows how to put together a divine swap package.

WOW! I too want to see a pic of the placemats...too cool and unique for sure. I love the glasses too...and yes even just plain water taste better from a pretty glass. Love, love, the cutting board...Ann's guy sure has a real talent with his boards...they are all so cool and different. A great package that Terri will enjoy for a long time Ann!!

Terri, you're right. Driving it would have been much quicker. I really expected it to arrive on Monday and started to worry. We were in Victoria all day so I couldn't check in until now.

I'm so happy that you like what I sent you. It was fun shopping for you.

I got the idea to have placemats made and then called Matthew to find out if it was something that he had could do for me. He manages a UPS store and he has all the best printing equipment and a laminating machine.

He made me a prototype so I could see what they would look like. The sample was too small (14 x 11), but other than that I liked what he had done. So I edited the photo and emailed it back to him and he was able to make them about 17 inches long and 11 inches wide. He put a picture on both sides and then laminated them with a heavy laminate.

Other than the one sample, Terri's placemats are one of a kind.

I didn't take individual photos of Terri's placemats, but I do have photos of the smaller one.

I just have to report back...And I agree, Ann is the BOMB DIGGITY!

I posted yesterday, and then basically flew around until I had to leave at 3:30 to my Baseball Concession stand for the night..so I didn't get to come back to the thread. I'm glad Ann had her proto type, to share with you guys!

My husband wanted to know all about the stuff on the table. (see above..no time to put away and why would I want to?) LOL
He thinks the glasses are so cool...And kept picking up the cutting board and rubbing it! LOL He and Kellan (my middle one) decided that the Strawberry Shortcake should be SERVED on the placemats right away! And when I told my HB(Honey Bunny) that the "shortcake" was made with her scones...He said.."ooh yeah..I know those scones"..... So at some point this weekend (if I get a moment) I've got to make strawberry shortcake, with Ann's scones...

Ann, the next time you want to send me a parcel..just drive it down...I'd love to sit and chat!

what a fantastic package. i often say if i ever open a little restaurant, i would hire ann for all the food artwork, amazing work and to turn it into something so personal and lasting for terri.

the stemmed glasses look just perfect for a refreshing glass of lemonade.

What a wonderful package. I love the cutting boards that Ann gets, and I'm lucky enough to have one, but this ginkgo leaf one is the prettiest yet. I would use those wonderful painted glasses for dessert - maybe bright red strawberries or raspberries topped with zabaglione. The placemats are so fun, one side for dinner and flip for dessert.

Terri, I know how much pleasure you will get from everything here. Can't wait to hear about your scone shortcake.
