WANTED: ode to a swap package

stacy3

Ode to a swap packageÂÂ

To my swap package

Wherever you may be Â

The waiting here is torture.

ItÂs getting the best of meÂ

My neighbors think IÂve lost my mind,

Opening the front door Â

Two or three times every hour.

Sometimes even moreÂÂ

Wondering who will send me mine Â

Diana or maybe Sol?

Or maybe Susan in nc Â

Heck, I want them ALL!

I really will be hoping Â

IÂm not the last to receive.

My partner may have lost my address.

ThatÂs what I believeÂ

But for now IÂll just sit and wait Â

Watching for the big brown truck Â

Running out front as he drives on by -

And screaming, "WHAT THE heck!"

    That poem was very clever.
I'd like to have you know,
That I feel exactly as you do
As far as swap boxes go.

I'm sure that mine is lost somewhere
    Or someone forgot my name
And maybe they lost my address too
(I know my reasoning is lame).

But I look outside every night,
And close the door and sigh.
Why or why can't I be first?
    I oft' begin to cry.

    Oh partner! Hear me whining?
    That date is getting near-y...
    I'm getting very antsy!
    I'm getting very weary...

    Of lusting over Janet's
    And whining all the time
    And drooling over Karen's
Oh why can't they be mine???

I'm sure when I get home tonight
    I'll hear the doorbell chime,
Then see a cutie in brown shorts
That made it just in time.

    Oh partner, awesome partner,
(I know you picked just right)
But get that package to me now,
So I can sleep at night!

WANTED: Lori316, I recieved your Wonderful Swap Package today!!!

Oh, Diana, I'm so glad you like it. Your package has a funny story behind it. When i shipped it, they never asked for payment...and I never realized that until a few days later. I called to pay for it (so you wouldn't have to! LOL) The woman got into an argument with me on the phone insisting it had already been paid for, but instead wanted to collect because the package had somehow got valued at $300. Anyway, that's why it was delayed, and that's why it says COD on it. My apologies. I was embarrassed that they were asking you to pay for your swap box! And that cake plate...I think i'm going to go back to the store and pick one up for myself. But what's even better, if you take the top off, place it on the counter, and take the stand off and cover it...voila, a tagine! I had fun shopping for you, Diana. I hope you use everything in good health!

Oh yes, that color is beautiful and I really like the shape of the detail on the plates. Very nice. I want to see the dog toy...lol. Yes, for sure Photobucket is a very easy way. It's free plus they just made it so you have unlimited storage. Like beachlily said when you put your pictures in the album on there you'll see next to it a bunch of codes for different things. This site uses the html code so yeah, just put that right in the body of your message. Well beachlily gave rest of instructions. Just agreeing. Smiles.

oh diana, i'm so glad you got a camera. i certainly learned for next time to always take pictures. barnomom...more than three? the cruets are one piece, the pitcher and glasses a REAL set and the napkins are the third item. the mag certainly does not count as a swap item. funny that you mention "more than three" is to this swap box and not a comment to some of the others. i must be missing something. diana, enjoy it all. i absolutely loved each item i sent to you and certainly hope you will for quite some time to come. maryanne p.s. michelle, nice dog outfit. you are obsessed with those skeletons LOLOL

For those of us still waiting
    I do have to admit
    The anticipation's killing me
I'm about to have a fit!

You see it's not just my door
    That bears a watchful eye
I sent my package days ago
    Did something go awry?

I forgot to get a tracking slip
    Or delivery confirmation
And now I'm worried about that box
    What is its location??

    So now two packages
Have got me in a tizzy
When will the box I sent arrive
And when my door bell get busy?

    As some of you remember
I've been in this spot before
    A-waitin and a-waitin
    And a-watchin my front door

And all I can say about that swap
And to those of us in this state
    Just remember the saying goes
Good things come to those who wait!

    Oh delivery-man in blue
    Or wearing shorts of brown
    Please come to my door
    Erase my worried frown

I'm like a kid at Christmas
    A-waitin' and a-hopin'
    Counting down the days
For a swap package to open

But just like me at Christmas
    What really made me glad
Is my swappie got her package
And she thinks it was fab!

I know that you'll be coming
    In your rumbly truck
I'll hear the brakes a squeaking
    Hooray! I'll be in luck!

The kids and I will open
The box and have a blast
    Dear Doggie will help unwrap
    The package here at last

We'll oooh and aaaah over everything
    Every little treat
    Oh swappie I do hope
There'll be something fun to eat!

Good things come to those to wait
    An adage tried and true
O package I can hardly wait
To get my hands on you!

My package lies over the ocean
My package lies over the sea
My package lies over the ocean
Oh please send my package to me

    My doorstep is chronically empty
The brown van just drives on past me
The mailman says sorry there's nothing
Oh UPS please hear my plea

There must be a box that has my name
All tied up with paper and string
Perhaps it is coming from Iceland
Now wouldn't that be just the thing

I know that I must be more patient
    I know I should po-litely wait
I know that I've not been forgotten
But waiting is something I hate

    (everybody sing!)

    Bring back, bring back,
oh bring back my swap box to me, to me
Bring back, bring back, oh bring back my swap box to meeee!

This is going to be really EMBARRASSING...I wrote an "ode" to my swap partner. ALL of yours put mine to shame!

  • lori316

    To my swap partner:

Your package is loaded with lots of goodies and treats
    It's coming from (near) Nantucket
All the things, I hope you'll like
But it's waiting for a man in brown to truck it.

    I know it's been slow
    I know it's been late
but I'm glad you're my swap partner
    It must be fate.

Your package is soon on its way
I will be wrapping and writing tonight.
It would have gone out sooner
But I needed one more thing to make it just right.

I hope you have a sense of humor
    I hope you don't think I'm insane
    I saw something funny and...different
    I just couldn't refrain!

    I followed the rules
    I followed the law
    When you open the package,
    I hope you will guffaw.

I know my limerick is silly
    I know it's pretty lame
    But when your package arrives
I hope you're glad it came

    So please be patient
    You just have to wait
    I won't say where it's going
But it's travelling across many a state.

(Scared you with the "Nantucket" thing, didn't I?) LOL

  • sheshebop

  • dedtired

    You're so vain-ia??

Driving around the block with three kids is a long trip! How did you ever manage?

I drive to Cape Cod every summer. I drive through PA, NJ, NY, RI, CT and finally MA. I think that's the order. I'm so bleary eyed they all run together. I guess that is a lot.

  • lori316

    Almost, Pam....

PA, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA.

The kids were so well-behaved 90% of the time. I was so proud of them.

    Okay, I'll try again...another hint...

    You're so vain-ia
You probably think this swap package is for you
    You're so vain-ia
I'll bet you think this swap package is for you
    Don't you? Don't you?

You had another swap partner several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well you said that you made such a pretty pair
And that you loved what you received

But you gave away the things they loved
And one of them was sea-sonings (hmph!)
    I had some dreams
They were clouds in my coffee
    Clouds in my coffee and....

    You're so vain-ia
You probably think this swap package is for you
    You're so vain-ia
I'll bet you think this swap package is for you
    Don't you? Don't you?

Okay, DS is down the street mowing lawns. My phone rings--it's him calling from his cell phone.

DS: "Mom? Don't get excited, but the UPS truck is down the street."

    Me: "Really? Where is he?"

DS: "4 houses down, delivering a package."

Me: "Oh, I hope I won't have to answer the door, I'm still in my robe!" (frantically runs to bedroom to throw on sweats)

DS: "Wait! Here comes FedEx! And another UPS truck!"

    Me: "Nuh-Uh!"

DS: "No, just kidding! Wait, now he's getting back in the truck."

(Sound of truck rumbling to life)

DS: "He's driving, he's driving.... Oh, sorry Mom, he's going on past."

Me: "Rats!" (chants to self: Good things come to those who wait, good things come to those who wait..)

    Stacy, Dear, Dear Stacy....

I'M beginning to wonder where the heck they're going. I dropped off two packages on Monday and tracking says one is still here in Newport. *sigh*

It said the other was headed west, but according to this, it's now back farther east than it was yesterday. Hopefully it just hasn't been updated right, but it was due to be delivered on Thursday and now it doesn't even say when it's due on one, and the other says Monday night at 9 p.m. It also has the wrong destination listed. Jeez...I hope this info isn't accurate. ***Panic***

So, it looks like somebody has two packages already separated, getting who-knows-where, who-knows-when.

Now I'm getting stressed...I'm gonna cry!

  • granjan

When I tracked my package they told me it had been delivered to MY ADDRESS on the date they picked it up! Lied to the recording to get a person and told the # h was recycled and it really was on it's way and will be delivered tomorrow! I hope NOT back to me!
