WANTED: Will Have To Wait . . .

We have been out of town for various youth sporting events, so I'm a bit behind here -- my poor, poor swap partner may end up being the last to receive, because we have two more tournaments this weekend -- I WILL get it out in time, but I'll be right under the wire. Patience is a Virtue, yes?

Hinoki cypress, Chamaecyparis obtusa, is a wonderful small tree and with endless cultivars to choose from. Some are very slow growing and will remain very small and most would appreciate at least some degree of direct sun - several hours of morning sun would be ideal. With as many different cultivars as there are on offer, there's an equally wide number of forms and growth habits. Slender Hinoki cypress, C. obtusa 'Gracilis', is a selection that is very common here and used frequently for both screening and specimen planting purposes. It's quite sculptural in stature with a definite Asian character - it doesn't look like a typical "Christmas tree" conifer. You might want to take this specific question about Hinokis to the Conifers forum for more input - I have no idea how well they do in the high summer heat and humidity conditions of NC but they love the PNW. If you are looking for coniferous screening, I'd also suggest Cyrptomeria japonica 'Elegans'. This is a conifer that is quite shade tolerant, has a very soft touch, has a reasonable growth rate yet remains of modest size and is used widely in the South. Neither it or the Hinoki are particularly drought tolerant, however.

I have planted 3 clems during the past month, including this morning. They all seem to be doing fine--but in this weather, I do keep a close eye on them--obviously don't want them drying out when they are this underdeveloped. Mine came in containers. Don't know if I would plant bareroot clems this time of year. I agree with the others--spring or fall planting is probably a better choice. Kate

Do you still need this? Open IE, in the top menu bar to the right of view; click Favorites. While pointing the mouse to the 1st name listed, right click & then select sort by name near the bottom of the drop down window. What I usually do is make folders in the "Links" entry for my favorite sites. I have a folder for Computer, Forums, House. My most used links go there. I set IE & Firefox to either open with about 10 different sites or one browser I used in XP called Crazy Browser had an option to load the last open tabs. I'm on Vista now and haven't loaded Crazy Browser on it yet. Boy do I miss it.

Yes, my partner is waiting too. I'm finishing up tomorrow, hopefully, mailing either Friday or Monday, so I'll be just under the wire. LOL

And I'm still waiting, waiting is part of the fun. You never know when you'll go home and find that box on your porch!!

I'm not finished yet either. But I don't really consider myself behind because I've been waiting until Sandra gets her on Friday and then we will be driving around the Island and going shopping in Victoria. I hope to be ready to mail mine by the middle of next week if not sooner.

I finally just got the box my neighbors have been holding...but it won't fit in the other box of stuff...so I have to figure out if I can ship two boxes or find one bigger box...sigh. Figure on Saturday or Monday partner.

Today my special ingredient arrived. Who knew it would take so long to deliver suck a simple item. However, I feel inadequate every time I see pictures of swap boxes.

Well I got my box. But I still have to PHOTOGRAPH ugh, & wrap and pack and have alot ot do for my friend's 60th this weekend.

In fact I should be down there either making the empanaditas or the chocolate seashells. But I'm tired. And it's 10pm. Maybe I'LL JUST SET SOME STUFF UP. Who am I kidding. At least I got my friends present today and it's wrapped.

Well the good news is there's still a full week before the mailing deadline, so we're all far from being late. Besides, this way the fun continues with postings a bit longer!

Okay, I predict I will be last to send mine out. Just back from vacation and have barely started. I thought I'd get some shopping done while I was away, but I did NOTHING!

I also need to apologize to my buddy sending my way. I haven't touched a computer in over two weeks (actally kinda nice in a way), so no posts from me. I know I haven't been very helpful, but please don't stress!

So I sent mine priority on Thursday and they said it should arrive Friday or Saturday....hmmmmm wonder if someone has it!

I've tracked my package and it arrived in the adjacent state yesterday so it is on schedule for Monday delivery. Wish the told you if the package was in tact!

Oh somebody, hope you're home on Monday!

Have the box, have the "stuff" for my partner, haven't wrapped items yet. I am sort of sitting considering a little something I made and don't quite know if I like it or not -- so, if I don't it will not be included. I know I'll decide in the next few days -- I promise -- I've been considering it for at least a week, including time I went to the beach and spent hours visualising what it is like and what I wanted it to be!

My mind got alot of R&R. It was so weird to not check e-mail or be here for two whole weeks. I didn't check work e-mail or voice either, so that was nice. It was my first real vacation in a long time. We were in Florida, and I'm going back in the fall/early winter...to look for vacation property!!!!! Woo-hoo!

Looking forward to checking out everybody's packages. Lots of catching up to do.
