A swap box of two from Jessy came earlier this week with a note that told me to wait - WAIT! for the second package to arrive....today! So I waited (a day) and then...I caved. :(

I was hungry and it was lunchtime - OK?

I knew that Jessy has a very generous nature and I am so

fortunate to be her swap partner!

The first box had lots of wonderful "ingredients" -

in fact, a nice SET of ingredients: dark chocolate, cheesesticks, Penzey's spices, interesting grains, agave sweetener, wild mushrooms, almonds with rosemary, smoked salmon, and chianti salami. Oh man, I love ingredients! And I always get to try something new when Jessy is gifting!

Also in the first box was a Brotform for rising bread before baking. It is made of wood - just beautiful - and I have wanted one for a long time.

Box #2 arrived today and it held a beautiful cake plate in a pink scenic design china that I've been collecting. Now I can present tarts and cupcakes in style!

Thank you, dear Jessy! I will enjoy everything and even those items almost gone - burp! I'll be sure to post the first bread out of the brotform - it might even be this weekend. You knew me very well to choose items just right for me and I thank you.

what really worked for me is yeast. i noticed that the fruit flies really liked to hang around bread. so i proofed some yeast (overly warm water, sugar, and yeast) amounts don't matter, but don't be too stingy on the sugar. i also found that when i put the mixture in a medium blue bowl vs white they were way more attracted. i also kept a spray bottle nearby, and would spray them into the mixture as they hung around the sides of the bowl. i must have got thousands over a month. change the water/yeast mixture when there are too many fruitflies. plus once the yeast has proofed, spray it down a bit or stir it so that the yeast isn't frothy on top. excuse the lower case - i have a broken arm. carol

Teresa always puts together a wonderful swap box. I had her for a partner a few swaps ago. I still use the sandwich plates she got me, almost everyday. Sanders Ice Cream toppings are great. The Sanders Co. was a Detroit institution for many years. The were a lunch and ice cream counter type mall store that also sold their own bakery and ice cream toppings. I was so sorry to see them close up the stores but glad that they continued to sell the toppings. Good job Teresa!!!!!! Nancy

Okay, my camera finally has found its way home so here are the pictures I promised! First is a jar of Tayberry Jam. Still unopened, but not for long: Then a jar of half eaten Caramel Spice Pear Butter (too fabulous!): This bag of Mukilteo Happy Hippie coffee looked a lot better before I opened it. I truly love it and have carried it to work a couple times so I could have it with me to pick up ingredients: Here is the very best item. The beautiful handsewn without a pattern apron. Well the first few blooms haven't been very full so I'm hoping with time they get more petaled. I prefer them to be really full. I love the cupped ones too! Just so so many of them that are gorgeous. I think I have a favorite until I walk to the next bush!

That is a fabulous package...and I love everything. It's funny how those stores get together with each other to create a wonderful "set" of Penzey's and TJ's stuff. So glad both stores are fiendly enough with each other to do that. Boy, Jessy, you were lucky to find a "set" of goodies like that.
Hmmmm. I think it's time for a limitless swap. Kinda seems like it .
Teresa, you are very lucky. tht is a great package. I lust after that bowl, especially since I am making more and more bread all the time. But that cake plate is to die for. Lucky you.
Jessy...better put on those Kevlars.

Theresa, I've heard of the Brotform bowls but I've never set my eyes on one. I can't wait to see what kind of bread you make first. I'm also drooling over the cake stand...gorgeous!

I love the cake stand too.

I'm not sure what one item you will make with the "ingredients", however. That one has me stumped.

Brotform is beautiful also - I hope we get to see the results of your use of it as well.

Do you not see the theme? The ingredient set will make a lovely, eclectic antipasto that can be served on the cake stand. The brotform is just "extra".

Seriously, I love the cake stand! I've seen pics of those wooden bread bowls but never encountered one in real life and am very curious as to how it would perform. And since I've never been to Penzeys I would be delighted by a "set" of ingredients from them ;-). It's like a gift basket without the...wait...put the ingredients in the brotform! A gift basket and a cake stand! No cheating found, Jessy. Take those undies off.

What a fantabulous (my made up word) swap box, all kinds of goods to cook with, never hear of a brotform bowl; can't wait to see the bread proofing in it...the finished bread too....
The cake stand is beautiful...and would go great in my kitchen (hint - re-gift - hint - to me) LOL

Hmm. I thought the ingredients (spices, agave nectar) were to make some kind of sweet Easter bread in the brotform which could then be served on the plate.

Yeah, that's it.....

Love the plate, by the way and the brotform is very cool. Chianti sausage, though? I'm not sure where that goes unless you're going to make sandwiches out of the bread. (grin)

I knew that there was going to be some great stuff in that basket! Jessy told me about the Brotform and I knew that was going to the right gal, but that cake plate is stunning,I love it! What a find!
