WANTED: Sheshebop is such a sweetheart!

The postman brought me a big box from Sheshebop last night, but my internet connection was down so I couldn't post then.

The contents of Sheshebop's swap box:

First there was this lovely little Chantal tea pot, a tin of Darjeeling tea and a catalog from the Republic of Tea:

Then there was a heavy little box which indicated that it might contain something related to pancakes. I opened it and up wafted a heavenly fruity fragrance, from four packets of flavoured pancake mix. ThereÂs blackberry, raspberry, peach and pumpkin spice flavours, a jar of whipped pecan-flavoured honey and a bottle of maple syrup:

The teapot is steaming by my side as I write this, and IÂm looking forwards to the Darjeeling. I'm expecting my parents for a visit over the weekend and plan to serve them some pancakes or muffins made with one or more of the mixes.

Isn't that a lovely bottle of syrup, it looks like liquid gold. (I'd save the jar when done, it's so cute)
I love the yellow teapot! A very happy color, especially on a grey day.

I couldn't let my sister have her special day without a celebration! I got your e-mail about wanting the recipe, but it has been crazy with the grandkids this weekend. Here goes: Chocolate Mousse 8 oz. good quality chocolate, chopped (I use Callebaut semisweet, but have been known to round off it off with Ghiradelli chips) 2 egg yolks, beaten 1/3 cup sugar 1-3/4 cup whipping cream Combine chocolate, egg yolks, 3/4 cup whipping cream in a small pan. Cook over medium heat until it starts to bubble around the edges. Remove from heat. Pour into a large bowl and set it in a larger bowl of ice cubes. Stir frequently and do not let it get cold or it will turn hard. Just take the warm off so it doesn't melt the whipped cream that you will put in it. (f you do get it too thick and cold, just remelt and try again) Beat 1 cup whipped cream just until thickened. You can beat to soft peaks, but the mousse will be pretty thick. However, I often beat until peaks form, and it is not a problem.) Fold the whipped cream mixture into the chocolate mixture. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until chilled. (At least 2-5 hours) and up to overnight. You can top with more whipped cream, if desired. This is my favorite, and is so easy to make. I have tried lots of different ways to make it, but this was the one, when used as a filling on my Kahlua chocolate cake that won a prize at a chocolate contest. (Best of show, 2nd overall) Here is the Kahlua cake recipe 2 cvups flour 1-1/2 cups sugar 1-1/4 tsp baking soda 1-1/4 tsp baking powder 2 eggs 1/2 cup cocoa 1 tsp salt 3/4 cup cooking oil 1 Tbs. vanilla 3/4 cup stong coffee, cooled 1/2 up Kahlua (I have made with more Kahlua than coffee, and it was to boozy tasting) Mix ingredients together like you usually do for a cake (Mixture will be thin) Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. I have also made this with amaretto. You could use creme de cocoa or an orange liquor as well) I do it in a Maryann pan, and it looks beautiful. You can decorate the top with whipped cream piped on. I decorated with edible orchids.

OK, Netla, what time should we show up for pancackes?

What a lovely box! I adore the teapot, it's so cheerful, and think that the selection of teas (to go with the pot ) and the pancakes & syrup (to go with the tea) is a wonderful idea. Bet everything is divine, too. And I love that the tea is steaming away as you type. Very, very nice!

Beautiful teapot,and the Republic of tea has some great tea. Love the pancake mixes and of course nothing beats Canadian Maple syrup. Enjoy your wonderful swap package!

The tea was lovely. Just one correction: according to the label, the maple syrup comes from Indiana.

My brother collects unusual bottles - I'm sure he will turn green with envy when he sees this one ;-)

Well now, that teapot is the perfect shade of yellow to go in my kitchen:-) What a wonderful swap package you put together, Sherry. We just had blueberry pancakes for dinner here last night, the boys would eat them every night if they could. A steaming cup of tea sounds nice right now, Netla. I hope you enjoy the pancakes and maple syrup as well.

Wow! That got there fast. I wanted everybody to know that I did not cheat. That pancake and syrup box was one item.
Netla, there were so many other things I would have liked to have included with my breakfast themed package. I have a hard time with a limit on what I can send.
Don't be surprised if a surcie shows up at your door some day.

Wow, I can't believe that Sherry's gift arrived so soon. And what a special swap box. The tea pot is such a cheery colour and I know that you will put the pancake mixes to good use. And nothing is better than real maple syrup regardless of where it is from.

What a neat idea, tea and pancakes! I never thought I liked syrup until I tasted real maple syrup for the first time. I didn't know it could taste that good! Lucky you, Netla! And nothing beats a good cup of tea on a cold afternoon - or morning with your yummy pancakes.

Oh ! I love the shape & color of that adorable teapot !!

And just perfect to go with it is Sherry's choice of pancakes & nothing better that real maple syrup . Does Iceland have sugar maples ,Netla?

I made pancakes this morning from half the pumpkin spice pancake mix. They were very good, with a hint of spice that complemented the maple syrup, which is mild and yummy. I'm seriously tempted to just drink it out of the bottle to savour the flavour as much as possible. When the bottle is empty I think I will use it for serving maple syrup/maple-flavoured pancake syrup.

Craftyrn, I'm not sure if there are any sugar maples in Iceland, but if there are, they are not being used for producing syrup on a commercial basis.

I love pancakes and tea! In fact, I'm having tea right now. I don't put syrup on pancakes, but I would use that syrup for making candy. You can make it without any other ingredients, and then you would be enjoying the flavor of the syrup completely. I didn't know maple syrup was made in Indiana. BTW, drinking it from the bottle is an acceptable option, IMO.

I'm seriously in love with that tea pot~ I love pitchers and the great color and unusual top, make a great display piece! Fun idea to have the assorted pancake mixes with that fun bottle of syrup!
