Yellow Police Tape (no cuffs)..ROFL! ..Thanks Katie!!!!!!

Im still ROFL after taking my box out of the shipping boxÂ.I was a little concerned with the yellow warning tapeÂ.. I was in the back seat with Katie and Annie at the same time at camp last year! Just not sure what they may have reported, lol, or what could be in this box.

LOL, IÂm saving this for future use on someone, not sure who yet, but I have a few that I can choose from. I love it!! This will be saved and used more than once with my group.

Okay on to the good stuff. Katie sent me some really cool and great things yÂall! She based her package on a logging theme after reading about my adventures during the Ice Storm. Check this out! My cool and creative swap box from Katie!

Paper: A very cool and unique Cookbook. Recipes Logged From The Woods Of North Idaho. IÂve only had a minute or two to page through it but it looks like a good one to me. The best part is it's one of four of the last updated printings. The first printing was back in 1948 when there was only a library club in her area. They reprinted in 88 and the final printing was in 99. IÂm now the proud owner of one of the last four! It has some great old time pics of the logging days from way back when in it too.

Ethnic is the next theme and IÂm loving this one too! IÂm sure those Loggers cooked over a fire and Katie sent me some BBQ Sauce that is made just a few miles from her. I canÂt wait to try it, yÂall know I love to cook on the grill and love a good and unique BBQ Sauce. Here is a pic of my North IdahoÂs Blackhills BBQ SauceÂ..Habanero Peppers add some heat to this. I will be sure to report back on this one later in the year.

Cooking Method is next, she picked salad making. First, Bear Claws got things started. YÂall know what a bear does in the woods right?? It does relate to logging if you are out in the woods. LOL! She told me these do well with both pasta and salad. Next, a bottle of Walla Walla Onion & Peppercorn Dressing. It is made just across the state line in Washington. IÂll confess to having some tonight while loading pics on my SLOW dial-up connection. It is fantastic!! Finally, check out this freaking cool bowl she found at an art show. I REALLY love it Katie! My pics donÂt do it justice. It is beautiful!!

The Salad Bowl.

Katie was too cool and sent me some of her homemade canned items as Birthday Presents. She stated these were not a part of the swap. I had to include them in my post. I canÂt wait to try the Huckleberry Preserves and the Peach Chipotle Jam. Hey, Chipotle in this one, some like it HOTÂ..after riding the "hump" lol! Thanks!

Thank you so much Katie for a great swap box! I REALLY love all of it. IÂll report back on the BBQ Sauce. The beautiful pottery bowl will be put to good use and has added to my serving collection thanks to the swaps. BTW, I baked and had an Idaho Spud for part of my dinner tonight. (while loading the pics on dial-upÂlol) Thanks again Katie!! I'll be taking this all back to town tomorrow to show it off to everyone. I picked it up late after everyone was gone...the office crew and my family love these swaps too!

Logging theme is such a creative idea! Good for you Katie!! And the Cookbook is so perfect!!

Boy the BBQ Sauce looks great...full of good stuff! Love the square salad bowl and the forks!! I like square serving dishes as they present so well and are not easy to find, especially one this colorful with such a wonderful edge too!

Great box, Katie! And David I know you will have fun with all your new goodies.

Good morning all, Happy Autumn to everyone! Can you even believe it? Seems like yesterday it was spring and we were all planning all the summer festivities and here it is another summer gone. As Im looking out at the September gardens here I have to thank all my Idyll and Garden friends whove given me so much information and inspiration over the last four years. There never used to be this much interest in the fall gardens. Ive learned so much here not to mention making friends for life. One of my lifes many blessings. So speaking of friends, I so wish you all could have been here for the afternoon yesterday. We started in a bit of a rush because Dougs cars battery died at the grocery store and he was stuck there for the longest time and got home barely in time to mow the lawn. I was running late because he was running late and anyway I was just finishing getting my hair put up when Chelone arrived. Normally Id be in a froth to be running that late but, no worries, these friends just are so laid back and mellow, no problems. Everyone arrived within twenty minutes of each other and Les and Monique brought up my bargain urn which took several of us to decant from Les minivan. Here is a pic I love the egg and dart detailing around the rim. What a buy, $50. for this because the corner is broken off. Detailing on the sides Anyway, originally I was going to put this in the way back on a rock I have back there but Im thinking I want to keep this in the front of the house as its such a beautiful piece. After we got the urn out of the car we had a lovely, leisurely tour of the gardens. As Ive said before and Ill say again, there is nothing as enjoyable as sharing the gardens with other gardeners. The high points were the Charles Grimaldi and all the lovely fuchsias are putting on quite a show at the moment. I was able to get some ideas for the new shrub border and show everyone the new pieced, rock mowing strip I put in a month ago. While we were doing the garden touring Doug was making salad and opened some wine then caught up with us outside and brought us a beverage of choice. What a peach! After the tour we settled in on the patio for our al fresco dining event. We started with Dougs famous smoked salmon served with the diners choice of pickled ginger, sour cream with dill, capers or hot pepper jelly as a garnish. I dont know how he does it but it is seriously the best salmon Ive ever eaten. Saucy brought a lovely home made bean dip, and a brillian bruschetta, Yum, yum! Wendy made her splendid spinach/feta/lemon dip. (Recipes please ladies) and Les made his gustatory delight guacamole. So who needed dinner after those appetizers? Well, we persevered, took a short breather and did justice to the main course of a crisp, tossed salad, Chelone brought fresh tomato/basil/mozzarella salad, Doug prepared grilled, marinated zucchini and the piece de resistance supplied by Sue/Tom/Monique and Les, gigantic prawns, marinated in garlic, cilantro grilled to perfection. Monique took some pics of these brilliant edibles from the sea and I hope she shares them with you all today. They looked like little lobster tails on the platter. What a superb meal! Whoops, almost forgot the corn on the cob but maybe I was trying to because Im now the laughing stock of the group because I eat my corn one row at a time. So maybe Im a bit OCD. LOL After another breather to make room (yes indeed there were home made desserts as well) we had Moniques magnificent apple cake with warmed caramel/pecan sauce and Wendys wonderful chocolate org - sm. (She assures us that really is the name of this decadent dessert.) Ahhhhh.. I dont think I need to eat for at least two days now. LOL As I said hopefully Monique will post pics of the food selections. (However, she really could avoid posting that unfortunate photograph of me and Doug with our faces pressed into the screen door. ) OK Ill post this then read the Idylls as there are lots of comments I want to make. Oh, it's "Bad Impressions" night on the MNF forum!! LoL YAY!! :O) Well, first things first....My Boss's husband is Ok, the guy he hit is OK, just a broken ankle. The pedestrian was drunk, and ran out between 2 cars, and hit the side of his car. So now the ped. is in the tank, charged with public intoxication & playing illegal touch tag with moving vehicles. Or something to that effect. :O) So thanks for all the prayers. They've helped. My boss's husband's brother was killed in a hit and run 5 years ago, so that's why he was so shook up last night & not thinking straight. Just brought back so many horrible memories. Can't blame him a bit, honestly. That WOULD be a pretty horrible experience. Yikes. Okay....Now for the fun part. :O) Becki, Medo & Tracy..I am laughing my tail off, thinking of you perty young girls charming the pants off of those fellers!! :O) Oh My!! LOL!! *evil grin* Well, I can tease...yes I can. Because, after all...I HAVE given the mailman a few peeks, haven't I?!? I'd much rather be caught stinky & dirty...than nakie & wet!! LoL Wooo-Weeee!!!! Oh, that reminds me! I could just KICK my husband. He's done the same thing yours has, Tracy! (last week!) He told his buddy that he could borrow a tool, and "just pick it up at the house on your way through". (!) Oooookay. WITHOUT telling me!! Soooooo, wouldn't ya know it, right as I got out of the shower, I heard someone stick their head in the back door and say "helllooooooooo!!" YIPES!! So I wrap my hair up, put on hubby's shirt...and go see who is invaiding my house. To make matters worse, he couldn't find the tool, it's not where hubby said it'd be...so I have to help him search for it!! OMG!! Meanwhile, he's laughing behind my back. Geeze. AND this is the same buddy that knows about the SEARS/VACUUM episode!!! UGH!!!! *blush* But ya know what, ladies?? WE ARE BEAUTIFUL & SEXY no matter WHAT we smell like or are wearing!! AMEN??!!!! And we can reassure our selves with the fact that...One of these days....Our men WILL get their comupance. Oh yes. :O)

Hi, Sorry for the delay in posting. I've had so much going on over the weekend, plus we lost our internet. We had a mini explosion outside, a powerline blew. The man from the electric company said a squirrel ate the line? I blame the ice/snow storm! We had the heaviest snow of the season! Anyways, I better make this short- I have to make lunches for the kids yet. Laura sent a wonderful box- nothing was broken, everything was packed very well! A cute handpainted pot (with google type glued eyes) and big painted lips, it contained a hindu rope hoya! Plus a very pretty clear vase with handpained flowers (I'm already using it to root some wandering jew starts) Vanilla/reed oil diffuser (smells so good) Journal (to make all my trade notes in- needed a new one so bad) baggy of seeds (have to go through them) mini hummer feeder/shepards hook to hang it on (hummers thank you Laura, LOL) Herbal soap (that smells soooo good) Gardening gloves (always need these) Package of blueberry herbal tea (yum) Country garden mag (after the weekend I had, I'm relaxing and reading this tonight) Thank you so much Laura, for such a fantastic box! I loved everything you sent! I hope I didn't forget anything! Things have to slow down for me soon! This weekend we purchased new 6 panel white doors for EVERY door in the house, plus new closet doors to match! Hopefully my package arrived today! ;) Hugs, Deb

David, Katie and I both KNOW you already have the cuffs, and that they fit me perfectly. LOL

That is a great serving bowl and I love the salad forks/bear claws too. You'll never go wrong with Katie's home canned stuff either.

See, after sitting between Katie and I this summer was there any doubt that she would take very, very good care of you? (grin)

I'm so glad everything made it intact. It was fun to put together. I had to stretch it a little to make a theme, but I thought it was all plausible (considering my theme is usually hodgepodge, hehe).

I'm glad you like that bowl, David...looks like it goes well with those placemats. I wish I would've gotten one for me, too, but that potter will be back in the fall. He said he'd bring more next time...it's a new design and he was almost sold out by the time I got there.

I love the logging theme, and ROTFL about the tape. I forgot he had cuffs, DH is in law enforcement, so if David and I had had each other in the swap, I could have sent him some!

Those old cookbooks have the greatest recipes! The sauces & jams definitely look to die for, and the 'bear claws' and the bowl are too beautiful. David, you definitely deserve them, especially after being such a great shopper for me!
