WANTED: Tea Treats from Chancesmom!

Thank you so much, Chancesmon!!! My package arrived from Canada today just as I was getting back from the pediatrician's office. We've been stuck indoors with a sick DD for days so it was such a day brightener.

The package focused on 'Tea and Cookies' which catered to my new interest in exploring green teas. A wonderful tin of tea from Tea in the Sahara was full of loose Green Sencha Tea with Cherry & Roses. It tastes as good as it looks beautiful.

Chancesmon also included a Canadian handcrafted honey spoon. The spoon is twisted in such a way that it will sit on the edge of the cup to allow the last drops of honey to drip into the tea. What a great idea. DD who is sick this week LOVES honey especially the honey we get at a local market so she already tested the honey spoon - she really loves daintily putting in on her tea cup. My other DD was checking it out when she got home from school. Looks like it will be come a family favorite.

Also included was The Book of Tea by Kakuzo Okakura. Can't wait to read through it. I know so little about tea so I'm ready to be educated!

She thoughtfully included a tea infuser in the shape of a lemon wedge - I was without a tea infuser ever since my last one broke. It's cute and useful.

I just love the handmade ceramic plate with an Asian design of a tree by the sea. So simple yet earthy and elegant at the same time. I will use and cherish it as a cookie or small treat plate.

Last, there was a bar of dark Godiva chocolate. Yum! I don't think it will last long enough to hide it.

Everything came packaged in a pretty gift bag with a card sending happy thoughts.

Thank you again! Your thoughtfulness really brightened my day. The tea, the plate, and the accessories are all wonderful.

Chancesmom that is such a wonderful package for someone who enjoys tea. The spoon is really clever and I love the shape of the tea infuser. I am sure Karen will enjoy it all.

purplemoon, thank you, well, since this treatment is going to last at least until Aug, I have to deal with good days (few) and not so good days, but I try to not have the bad days totally run my life...they just slow it down LOL Paintingfool, you just gave me a good belly laugh (Godiva) ha, only in my dreams, especially lately LOL I am glad that the tablesetting bug has gone to your family, there is nothing more pleasing than people actually using their "treasures" rather than making a shrine to them. To be lovinging touched and sharing a food event whether simple or elaborate is what makes the dishes special, because they were used with love. And each time the dishes are used they acquire a new patina of love every time they are used, now that is "priceless". And wow, 6 sisters, that means 6 opporutunites of beautiful tables and fun! dining delight, thank you too for your sweet words. I do hope what thoughts that come streaming out of this head (especially lately) are of some help to everyone, I defineatly do not have a claim to "engaging prose", I do the best I can, but of course if anyone has any questions I am always glad to take a poke at it. I do not consider myself an expert in any way. As I had said in the main forum under another thread, I do follow certain rules, but I do put up alot of others for grabs LOL, at this stage of my life I try to please me and others, the whole idea is to have fun, bring in color, excitement to what is a normal routine in most of our lives. My ears are burning in a good way, thankyou :) luvs, the Party Planner seems to be way behind on posting the photos, but if you go to her most recent comment about being busy...I think, you will see people that participated with comments, click on there blog sign and their blog will come up and you will see their teaparties.

Oh goodness, I can see I was not clear... my friend treated me to lunch at a local eatery--that's why (in my initial post) I was surprised when I was approached and told "no photos!" Sorry for my miscommunication. It was all delicious, and really, a lot more from which we could choose, but this is what we enjoyed. I love the green tea ice cream, and only get it once or twice a year, so that was especially enjoyed! This week is my second week of "early Spring break" from teaching, and that's always special to me--it was even more wonderful to be surprised and treated to lunch! Watch out for spam!! Smiles, Sooz

Live on the coast in the Carolinas. Went to my book club meeting yesterday. Menu included pimento sandwiches, pecan tassies, cheese straws, and the drink was a kool aid punch, your favorite flavor of sweetened kool aid, large can of pineapple juice, ginger ale, she had frozen a block of the punch and had it floating in the punch bowl to keep it cool. Had other things, tea cakes, cucumber sandwiches, and also another drink with cheerwine and ginger ale. Reason we have so much food, we can take a sampling of our favorite foods, not sure if we are a book club or a food club. We sure have fun at meetings.

I collect Old Garden Tea roses and I rarely see any rose in a different class that has the same degree of "exquisite delicacy" that is shown in a Tea rose blossom. The few roses that I do grow with my Tea roses that are suitable for a colder climate include: Tea Hybrids: which have one Tea rose parent; Souvenir de la Malmaison' which although is sold as a Bourbon is fully 1/2 a Tea class rose. Divine pink-flushed creamy blooms, the plant is floriferous. I planted 3 of these in a triangle at a local public Old Rose garden, which makes a mass of fragrant roses. One of the very best of the Old Garden Roses in my opinion.. Mrs. Herbert Stevens, is very lovely; the climbing form can be grown as a self standing "tree rose", c. 6-7 feet tall, with one thick central trunk, the delicate blossoms have the natural artlessness of a true Tea. Mlle. Cecille Brunner' a Polyantha-Tea with dainty blossoms and a great fragrance, Spray Cecille Brunner is an excellent plant that can be grown as a hedge, or as a self standing "Tree rose" . Early Hybrid Teas that retain some Tea rose character; Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria' a white rose with a sweet graceful bloom style. Not pure white, it has some lemon tints to it according to conditions. 'La France' 'Snowbird' nice fragrance and a lovely bloom shape. Mrs. Jules Bouche' is as floriferous as a Tea rose and has a nice mixed floral scent. The Pernetiana class has a few roses that would mingle well with Tea roses. Duquesa de Pernananda' (sp?) reminds me of the Tea, Anna Olivier', but with richer hues. If I could not grow my beloved Tea roses, I would grow the roses listed above. Good luck on your quest to find cold climate Tea like roses.

What a nice theme! The book sounds very interesting and the spoon for honey is a good idea.

That was a perfectly lovely swap package. I love the lemon shaped infuser, and adored the cute little cookie plate. You will have fun with that Karen. Chancesmom, you did a very good job.

I am so glad you like it! It was so much fun putting it together, and getting to know you through your posts! I had been unable to check the tracking (copied something down wrong) so I had been checking here practically every 2 hours to see if it arrived safe and sound. It was a super harried day at work yesterday so finding out it arrived and you enjoyed it makes today seem that much brighter.

Yes, it was such a thoughtful package of interesting items. The chocolate bar is loooooong gone. The tea is flavorful enough that it does not need any sweetner. A nice type of tea for a quiet moment after a long day.

My girls are hooked on the honey spoon now. That's a lot of fun for them.

Lovely, gracious package.

Although I don't drink much tea, I like ones with interesting names like Serendipitea (go figure).

'Tea in the Sahara'. Trivia: not just a Sting song. He based his work on a story told within Paul Bowles' novel, "The Sheltering Sky". I read the book, didn't see the movie.

I'll just bet your girls love that spoon - I love it too. The combination of cherry and rose sounds really intriguing. I've had green tea with cherry blossoms, this could only be better. Great theme, great choices Janet.
