| Okay swap buddy - I mailed out my package today. This may be my last swap, I stress too much over it. I make a bigger deal out of it than I need to - I know this. I doubt myself, the goodies, the wrapping..... I'm a mess.
Anyway, it's heading North. Hahaha! Everyone is north of me huh? |

RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

| Shaun - I am questioning myself too! I was just eyeing a diaper box (admiring how sturdy it is and perfect to mail my swap items) ... and then I am like .... HELLOOOO!!! you can't send someone a gift in a diaper box!!!!! I have one more item I am planning on getting tomorrow if we don't get snowed in. I have tix to see the band INXS in the city and reservations (you need to book months in advance) at a famous (not fancy) nyc place that sells a special item that I want so badly to send my partner!!! I'm clinking !!! Anyone else? |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I'll clink with you! :) AND I have no problem with diaper boxes! Send it on. Shaun, when will your package arrive? I want to be sure I'm home. :) |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

| Shaun, don't be ridiculous! Yes, I KNOW its stressful, but it's fun too, right? I know how you feel though...as soon as I had mine mailed, I told Greg it was all wrong and I'm fretting about it. Hey, I'm not north of you for the next few weeks (but, I know I'm safe from you this time...LOL!) My package was mailed on Thursday...from Indiana, so I won't say which direction it was headed, but it's north of me here in SW FL! Maggie...don't worry about the box. Sturdy is more important. I am worrying myself sick that I didn't pack mine well enough and it will be a mess. Can't wait to hear that it arrived ok with nothing broken. I used a large Priority box from the Post Office. Oh, yeah, I do happen to be clinking right now! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Shaun, Calm down and have a drink it will be OK. I'll like whatever you sent. Really!! I think we're all a little nervous. I'm like that when I give someone I know a gift. When we give to someone we don't know it's magnified. I really have never received a swap package I didn't like. RELAX Tracey |

| INXS? Let me know:) Curious about the new member..I loved their search..I was glued to the Telly. Swaps should be fun..I would worry too:) |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Maggie you made me laugh with the diaper box!! You all have made me feel better, just knowing I'm not alone in my feelings. Jayne, yea you're right. It IS fun too. A lot of fun actually. Thanks. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I mailed my package out this past week, and it is heading east. I wouldn't mind the diaper box either! :) |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Shaun, I predict you will participate in the next swap. Its in your blood now. Bwahaha. My vintage ebay item arrived today. I may get another one for myself in blue! I have one more thing to buy and that box is outta here on Monday. Going East. Everything is East of me. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

| Soooo - maybe the diaper box can be like my signature item??? noooo - wait - I don't think I can do it!!! But - it is a good box. I swear it is a BEFORE box not an AFTER box. Clinking back to everyone. I don't know if this is the appropriate place but I just have to share this story. This morning the doorbell rang at 8:30 am.... wouldn't be that unusual for a weekday but it is Saturday. I am upstairs and DH and DS are downstairs. I come flying down the stairs - DH is like - "who the heck can that be?" - and I am like "my swap box my swap box". So without even thinking (I am in pj's - well pj bottoms and a tank) I swing open the door. Well, it is not the UPS guy or Sean the mailman. It is two very well dressed young men. I step back a bit and they say "Good Morning - Is there anything Jesus can do for you today?". I am like - no thank you bye and shut the door in like 2 seconds flat! So - it shows how excited I am about this swap thing - both giving and receiving! But here is the really funny thing (to us anyway)...DH says - "what did they say?" - so I tell him and he says "well, jesus was a carpenter you could have told them about the unfinished trim work in the kitchen". haaaaa Hope this isn't offensive to anyway - in no way am I putting down religion, it was just one of those moments. We are still having a good laugh - mostly at my expense! I will also add though - my DH does not GET the whole swap thing - he thinks I am nuts to do this. Anyone else's significant other think that too? Monique - I will let you know how JD is. It is a rare night out and I am really looking forward to it! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

| LOL Maggie! Exciting morning, huh? I think Greg is catching on to the swap thing. This is my second one. He even went to the Post Office with me to carry my package...it was heavy. I think the excitement is starting to build...lots of packages should start arriving next week! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Diaper boxes are fine. I'd be thrilled to get one. They're just the right size for lots of things! My package went out a couple of days ago, and I'll just say it went right or left from here (depending on which way I'm facing). By the way, I don't like mini-swaps, but I doubt that I could afford the postage on a full-blown swap. When I find something I like, I just say to myself, "How heavy is this thing? I think I'll get my partner marshmallows and meringues." |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

Maggie, as a good church going Methodist, I find your post to be....hysterically funny. LOLOLOL Plus, your DH is extremely quick witted. I'm impressed. Annie |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Ha, ha, ha. Maggie that was funny. Don't worry your DH will get into the spirit. My DH was the same way. The first couple of swaps his attitude was "Why?". Even though I now have a plan - took a while - but it finally came to me - last night he was offering up all kinds of suggestions for good swap items. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

Maggie that's hilarious! I have the same problem in my kitchen! Mine will go out Monday too...It's heading South and/or East....LOL..every one is South or East but maybe Ann, she's north of me a touch. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~

| I thought about the diaper box too, but the darned things are made of such thick cardboard and heavy enough by themselves it drives up the price of shipping. I shipped a small(ish) box and the cost was over $9! But I did have some fragile items and they were wrapped well. Very well. LOL I sent mine out Friday! I'm going to the USPS website to check on delivery confirmation next. Yahoo! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Seems like alot of boxes have gone out!!! wee heeee!!! Ruddmd - glad to hear the dh is in to it!!!! How do you pack fragile items??? Thinking maybe I should get some bubble wrap.... |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Maggie that story is hysterical. Your outfit to answer the door for them reminds me of the time I opened the door in my pj's (hospital scrubs scored after childbirth) with my unwashed new mom hair on top of my head in a pony tail, holding a baby nursing. The guy said, "Hi how are you today, may I read you this passage form the bible." I politely declined. As for diaper boxes, bring them on. But at least the Huggies ones have an opening in the bottom. Last swap my DH forbid me to use the box my replacement Le Creuset dutch oven came in. He said that was cruel and promptly recycled it. However at his companies holiday party last year I individually wrapped each jam in our gift for the gift exchange in a CLEAN diaper Julian had grown out of. For swaps I generally wrap fragile items in a ziploc baggie if they might spill and then in bubble wrap. -Robin |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Lots have gone out. Any minute someone will be posting an "I got it!" thread. Sigh . . . Mine isn't going out until the end of the week. This is exciting! Who will be next? |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Well there is a package for me at the post office. Could be my swap package or something I ordered for DH on ebay. I think it's too soon for the ebay item though. I called this morning and they will redeliver today. LOL at that story Maggie. I wrap glass with liquids in with bubblewrap and then put in ziploc bags. Sometimes I put air in the bags also then seal. It depends on how fragile and how far it's going. Mine will go out when the last item gets here. Tracey |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I'll have to send my swap buddy's package on Friday. It'll be going northwest and I hope it brings a little warmth to someone dealing with snow. Yuck! I'm in Florida, so everything is pretty much "north" of me too! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Mine went east (like Shaun's north, anything is east to me) lastg week and was supposed to be delivered Thursday! What happened? Anyway, my partner should have it any moment now. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Dang! It's not me. Believe me, I've kept my eye open for UPS, the postal lady and FedEx. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| ziplock bags - great idea. I love the idea of using diapers for padding too!!! Too funny Robinkateb!!!! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| According to delivery confirmation, my package arrived at a sorting facility or something at 5:31 this morning about 3 miles from my swap partner's house! Agh!! The suspense is killing me!! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| It was my DH ebay stuff. Darn!! Tracey |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| LOL...This is funny. I guess I'm not the only one that checks delivery status 50 times a day once I send a package out? |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Mine is going out on my way home from work today! Linda |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Now, I'm worrying more...Last swap, I sealed fragile liquidy or potentially messy items in Ziploc bags. This time, some of them wouldn't fit in even the gallon size, so I am super worried to know if everything arrives intact. I'm usually so careful about packing securely, but I was rushing too much before leaving for vacation. Geez, I even left the delivery confirmation slip at home, so I can't even track the package. I'm thinking it should arrive tomorrow...I hope, I hope. Jayne |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Jayne - I'm sure everything will be fine. As soon as it's delivered to my house, I'll let you know. :) You did say this was heading EAST from Indiana? |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
Okay mine didn't leave yesterday, it left today... Bon Voyage...Package......... |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I still have NOT sent mine...I gotta get busy!!! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Mine's not gone yet but at least I finally have it all together. I'm struggling with one piece but I need to get over it! Don't want to say anything now that will give my partners name away but I have a story to tell when my parcel arrives in ........! |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I'm still waiting for something to arrive. It's supposed to be here on Tuesday. Hopefully mine will be out by next Wednesday. Tracey |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| I'm close - maybe Saturday it will go out. |
RE: WANTED: Heads Up~
| | |
| Mine is now packed and ready to go! It should go out today!!! North, South, East or West?? |
