very nice package linda. that dish is really quite interesting. pitcher reminds me of a beloved aunt, filled to the brim with homemade iced tea and always with a sprig of fresh mint.

I am SOOoooo thankful that everything arrived in 1 piece! I was sweat'n even though I wrapped and packed and wrapped again...sorry for the abundance of bubble wrap, stuffing and tissue!

But so glad that you like everything. I tried to keep every bright and cheerful as this is how your home appears to me! The vintage apron is from my own collection and I started collecting almost 30 years ago and I have no idea how many I have now but there sure are alot of 'em.

Lovely stuff! Great job. I got a tortilla press in my last swap from Miss Annie and I love it. It took me a little while to get it down to a science, but now I'm pretty good at it, and my kids absolutely love it.

Arabella, there were no directions available for the Tortilla Press and I checked every box too! The salesperson was Hispanic and said that you just place a ball of dough between pieces of wax paper and then press. She said that you must make the Tortilla thin or else they will be tough and the press does a beautiful job. Also a friend of mine has one and she makes Flat Bread in it too. What is your technique for making Tortillas?

Yes, it's that simple, although I don't use the wax paper. Probably a good idea though. I've found that the key is in the amount of water you use with the corn flour (masa). The amount changes every time I use it because I factor in the humidity of the day. It's a bit of a trick to make them thick enough that they don't get holes, but thin enough so that they aren't tough. One you get used to knowing the right consistency, you're fine.

Thanks for the info on making tortillas, AM. I wasn't exactly sure how it was done. But I do have a bag of masa harina I bought a while back just for this purpose, so now that I have a press, I am all set!

Love all the vinage stuff. That peach color is very unusual, and very pretty. Around here people use 2 peices of plastic wrap with their presses. One stays on the bottom and the other one is put on the round of dough and then pulled off and reused for the next round.

What a fun package! My kids love going to the restaurant with the machine that makes the fresh tortillas--they're sooooo good. Now you can make them at home.

The aparagus dish is really cute too. I agree--the pitcher and glasses really brings back the memories of a slower time. Enjoy your goodies, Linda, and great job Michelle!

I stole my friend's tortilla press (well, asked her to buy me one from the Latino places she haunts, LOL). Like granjan, she showed me that the tortillas were pressed in between plastic - she used cut-open ziploc bags. I make both flour and corn tortillas for the kids. I can't get the corn ones to 'poof', though!

I really like the pitcher and glasses, it reminds me of the "peach lustre" stuff Grandma used to have. Her's would have been full of iced tea, and used when one of the aunts stopped by for tea and gossip.
