A Second Box from Granjan Arrived!!!!!

The mail person was just here, naturally I opened the box as fast as possible...

All kinds of treats, Janet, what a lovely surprise.

There's coffee beans from Peet's Coffee (Berkeley), also Mocca Beans from Peet's, I can see I'd love this place!

Candy bars from Scharffen Berger along with Cacao Nibs, these will be fun to cook with and even suckers from See's Candy.

Then I find a Berkeley Bowl Produce tote bag, just the thing to stash things in wherever I go. I love it!

Then, I unwrap a cookbook that I have seen mentioned numerous times....the Chez Panisse Menu Cookbook by Alice Waters... I can't wait to get into this book. Excited? Me? You bet!

Janet, a simple Thank You doesn't seem to be enough, so here's a BIG ((((((HUG)))))). What a wonderful swap partner you are.

My first and second orders are happily planted and growing, and my mom called today to say her Julia Child arrived. She said it was much bigger and healthier than the potted Julias we bought last year for much more money! Heck of a deal. If I had been thinking, I would have sent a Julia Child to each of my aunts since shipping was free and there was no minimum. That one sure made my mom happy, which makes me happy...and I didn't tell her about how many I had ordered for myself. According to the tracking, I'll get my Purple Passion tomorrow and that's the last of them. Terrific sale, wonderful plants, and the weather is even cooperating, sort of. We're expecting rain for the next 6 days. Already kicking myself for not ordering more, and I do feel bad for those of you who didn't get in on it. Even the mini "Texas" was a big size. wow wow wow

No Becky, you're not the last one on the planet to have ventricosa, I certainly don't have it and I probably won't any time soon either, given the size of the plant and the size of my yard :-) At present I have 3 immature Sum & Substance and at least one of them will go up for sale in the spring plant sale we have in our carport every spring and on top of that there is an Elegans I got last year that really needs a spot I cannot find. As Hostanuts we all have needs and desires, and my need right now is for a much larger yard so I can fulfill my desire for many more Hosta varieties. There really is only so much one can do on a 50x100 suburban lot. PLUS, it's not just Hostas I'm nuts over, how about Lilies, Heucheras and so on and so on....

Hello Friends, Andrew - I have ordered Tons of Stuff from them and have been so happy each time. I got a 5'-6' Foot Sweetheart Lychee, 5'-6' Foot Purple Caimito, 4'-5' Foot Jaboticaba, a 5' foot "San Pablo" Custard Apple, and a Awesome Pickering Mango tree that is fruiting right now. That is the stuff I bought. As for te Stuff I got for free. I got a Jamaican Strawberry tree which is now almost 7' feet, Barbados Cherry, A Guava, a 6' foot Grumichama Cherry, and a Sensitive Plant, and a couple of others. He really values his customers and wrote the book on customer service. Bo - Yes, I definietly believe in them and the proof is in the pudding. He really delivers and the product speaks for itself. He will do whatever to make you happy. Ask for some pictures so you will get exactly what you want and expect, and so there won't be any problems. Mickey is very happy to do so. They are by far the best Mail Order Nursery for us in California and West Coast. - Jacob

Teresa always puts together a wonderful swap box. I had her for a partner a few swaps ago. I still use the sandwich plates she got me, almost everyday. Sanders Ice Cream toppings are great. The Sanders Co. was a Detroit institution for many years. The were a lunch and ice cream counter type mall store that also sold their own bakery and ice cream toppings. I was so sorry to see them close up the stores but glad that they continued to sell the toppings. Good job Teresa!!!!!! Nancy

No rule infractions if you do group counting! Coffee,wine, chocolate, produce with it's own recyclable bag, and cookbooks. All from Berkeley sources. You can't count the annoying advertising items the sender threw in!

Not a C theme, a Berkeley theme. Everything that we produce or are famous for. Deciding on the cookbook was hard there are so many great food writers here but Alice is our most well known. Sharfenberger chocolate and Peet's are good. And Berkeley Bowl is THE BEST, although Monterey Market is it's equal if smaller.

it sounds just great - I actually bookmarked Peet's while I was swap shopping - the stuff looked wonderful....and the cookbook - you hit the jackpot!
