Some really great ideas here. A few I use- For air layering, I often pin sections of plants into the substrate with paperclip halves, nice U shape, and in a few weeks or so there are enough roots to cut the stem for an already rooted cutting. For training vining plants on a trellis, cheap hair clips work beautifully. For pots with huge drain holes, I cover with a bit of old window screen to keep the soil from washing out. Clear plastic cups with drainage holes punched in the bottom are great for rooting cuttings. Cheap, and you can tell at a glance how the root system is progressing. Ziplock bags are great for rooting many types of cuttings, and make emergency humidity tents for that one plant you forgot to water on the hot windowsill... whoops. I used to have an issue with knocking over small pots on windowsills when they git dry, or top heavy pots with bamboo u hoops. (I grow mostly Hoyas), then I started putting a few rocks in each pot to weigh them down. Just be sure it doesnt impact water retention too much. Havent knocked over a pot since. That is all I can think of for now.

your plant is stressed .. the biggest leaves are the oldest leaves ... when a plant is stressed.. it can sacrifice the old leaves.. to protect new growth ... so for me.. thats what it seems to be doing ... and long as the ugly leaf has any green... leave it on the plant.. its still doing its job converting light to energy ... and then just relax.. and water it properly .. btw... did i come potted.. or did you repot it from bare root ... the greatest stress is past.. so lets not keep trying to fix.. what is past ... its stressed.. not hungry.. fert is not requisite right now... frankly.. it look pretty good.. whats left of it.. lets try not to kill it with too much love .... ken

Hopefully your faucet is solid brass and not brass PLATED. From what I understand you can’t strip off the lacquer on a brass plated fixture and you will never get the nice unlaquered finish you’re looking for with something that is plated.

Hi, combi-steam cookers! We just got our new Miele oven, and I’m enjoying steam and combi-steam cooking. I have used some of the auto functions with pretty good results. I’m really interested in the menu cooking feature and have spent some time reading about it and watching some instructional videos. But the menu combinations I’m seeing involve just the plain basic foods. So for example, I’m seeing the salmon/rice or potato/broccoli combo frequently used as an example, but it’s just some plain rice, or maybe instead some unadorned potato wedges, and some plain salmon filets. I would prefer to plan meals around potatoes au gratin, marinated salmon, risotto, etc. but there don’t seem to be any recipes involved while using menu planning. Also there’s a dearth of recipes in general. I’ve found the cites referenced here in earlier post from the US, UK, and Australia. Does anyone do meal planning with real recipes for each individual component of the meal while using menu cooking?
