Merry Christmas and hi all

Just popped in to say hi and Merry Christmas to everyone since I hadn't been on here in ages. Matter of fact last week I was thinking of this place and for the life of me could not remember what the name of this website was seriously. I racked my brains, was it yahoo groups,, no, etc. etc. When I saw Bobby posting on another site I had to email him for the answer LOL

I've not been up to much. More or less coasting along up and down dealing with mom and her Altzheimers. Fortunately though my sister in law in Newfoundland was looking to move last summer and thought here might be a good place. She already knew mom and so has moved into her house with her taking a huge weight off my sister and my shoulders. They get along famously and so it's put off for now the having to find a place for mom to go. Moms still uber healthy and active but just terribly forgetful but she had a couple of cooking incidents which frightened me. (wrapping her food in foil and putting it in the microwave... hence fire in the oven only,, whew).

I haven't been doing much of any cooking , just sort of eat as I go. Can't remember when the last time was I baked any bread either. Oh I did make some creampuffs for T-giving but that's about the extent of things LOL

Hey Peter. Welcome back. It has been a while. I've missed you.
If I remember correctly one of the reasons you moved back to Ontario was to be closer to your mom. Sorry that she is having problems.

I hope you will visit more often.

Yeah....aging parents are a huge problem. Hope your mom's health continues to be good. the dementia is hard....but as long as she's happy....try not to worry. And now you have a helper.

After reading all of your posts here tonight, I wish I had more time to spend with all of you on here. I loved reading each post and loved seeing the picture of DD with DDad and DIL, Karen. Jim, I meant to tell you Maxie looks just like my Ty...not only his color and markings, but his expression. LOL. TEN cats....you are definitely a glutton for punishment with all your beautiful collections and decor. But I well remember when I was doing some "rescuing" myself and ended up with 10 at one time. I love cats but have to say I'm glad those days are behind me, the 4 I have are more than enough. Especially with Jazz/Trouble. Maybe I should ship him to you.... ;o) I don't suppose you took a photo of the 3 new Santas before you put them up with your other Christmas bins? Good morning, exhausted elves... And now, let the detox begin. Too much food, too much sugar, too much butter, too much wine and egg nog, and too much love and good will. No, wait, you can't have too much of that. But I always know the reveling is done when all I want in the world is a big bowl of steamed broccoli and a cup of tea... Today, it is raining and gray here in central Virginia, there is nothing on the calendar and no one in the guest room, the coffee is in the thermos, the leftovers are waiting in the fridge, the kitchen is relatively clean, and DH and the kitties are snoozing under and on the comforter. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We are having fun at the farm. My youngest son and his girlfriend have been here for 3 weeks and will be here for 4 more. It has been going VERY WELL. DH had a total knee last week Wednesday and has been doing great. He walked down to the farm shop today with his walker and did fine. He's a good patient.

Merry Christmas Peter!

My FIL hasn't any memory left either. Don't know if it's Alzheimers - I don't know the different grades of dementia. It's sad, at least he's mainly cheerful, has a wife taking good care of him, and enjoys food, dogs and jokes.

Merry Christmas to you too, Peter, I'm so glad to see you here again.

My stepmother is in about the same condition, I think, and I've been trying to take care of her but I did have to move her into a senior apartment with emergency call buttons, etc., she just couldn't live by herself anymore. She doesn't like it that she doesn't remember, so she just makes stuff up!

I think several of us here are doing approximately the same thing. Boy, I was sure not prepared, though....

Take care of yourself too, my dear. Bake some bread, the kneading is good for frustrations. (grin)

Merry Christmas, PKGuy! I'm not around so much either, but occasionally! I am sad about your Mom, my elderly parents had difficulties also. BTW, I am still coveting that red blender of yours, its been a long time, let me know if you ever want to get rid of it :)

Hi Peter, so good to hear from you! Sorry about your Mom but thankful your SIL is able and willing to take on some of the care giving.

Hope all else is well with you. Do I recall right that you retired when you moved? I sure do recall that gorgeous yard of yours!

Merry Christmas Peter! I'm glad to see you here and sorry to hear about your Mom. Like so many of us here, I know what it's like to face those problems with a parent. I'm glad you have some help now.

It's a sad state when you have to ask someone else the name of the site - that certainly says you've been away far too long. I hope we'll se more of you now that you've found your way back.
