Well no snow here and we aren't expecting much(darn!) since I'm northwest of you. We may get a few inches. I'm wrapping gifts now. My son is sleeping and my daughter spent the night at my moms so I'm lucky to have some time to do this.

I'm supposed to take my son to his guitar lesson later and some house cleaning definitely needs to be done.

I'm glad to hear the snow is light Pam. We had 6 inches of heavy wet snow last week. I had a terrible time cleaning the car.

Lots of snow here in Baltimore, I guess "they" weren't kidding this time. It just keeps coming down. I thought I'd be clever and hit Walmart last night at 9PM, thinking everyone else would be done with their shopping - BAD IDEA, it was mobbed, long checkout lines. Everyone was not only getting their toilet paper, milk, bread and eggs, but doing all their Christmas shopping.

I did remember to back the car into the garage, and made sure the snow blower is accessible. My DD and DGC are coming up Tuesday, from Texas, for 2 weeks, so I got a sled (and two new tires) yesterday. We have some nice hills in the neighborhood.

I've got butter, flour sugar and eggs, I'm ready to bake. I also got a big bag of birdseed, so I'll keep the feeders clean and filled.

We got about 3-6 inches of snow yesterday afternoon and last night before it turned to freezing rain/sleet. Last night I baked a big bread order for a customer and returned just now from meeting her at the farmers' market location to deliver the order. The roads have little traffic and have been scraped. I didn't have any trouble, but then I go really slow in my little Subaru and never have trouble.

Today I'll bake another bread order and weave scarves for Christmas presents. Glad my Netflix delivery came on time!

Its going to be a high of 76 in my part of town....

(Teresa do you have 'watch it now' on Netflix? I'm rewatching 'The Usual Suspects' to catch the hints!)

Oh Jessy, that's too bad. No fun in the snow for you.

So far, the snow really is kind of fun. It's very light and fluffy, so I have shoveled the driveway twice and it was easy. The neighbors are out playing and shoveling, too. My neighbors have an Australian Shepherd and Moose is having a ball tearing in circles and snapping at snow as it's shoveled.

I had a couple nice chats with people just out to enjoy the weather.

The worst thing about all this is the incredibly annoying local news people. Our's spent an hour talking about a car that was parked on a city street across from the station and by 9 a.m. would be towed when the official snow emergency began. So far the owner got a ticket but I never heard whether or not he was towed.

I made lasagna, too. Sometimes snow is fun., although not for those who are traveling.

Why don't I have snow???????? Is it coming? I'd better get out quick and get my errands done!

Supposed to start here by 7 p.m. & be heavy overnight with either near blizzard to blizzard conditions thru about 6 a.m. tomorrow. Forecast is for 15" but NOAA, via the VHF, says even a 5 nm mile storm track difference could give us an additional 6".

This is the first good snowfall we've had since the end of January 2004 when we had to leave a day early to miss the storm for our trip to La Jolla. Came home a week later to 24-30" on the ground!

Here on Cape Cod, we're not supposed to get hit with as much snow as Tricia in Connecticut - maybe about a foot. Our blizzard warning is in effect from 4:00 this afternoon until 1:00 tomorrow afternoon. There should be some pretty good wave action at the east facing beaches - the storm will span two high tides.

I made a big pot of Portuguese kale soup and baked some cornbread. We have a big box of chocolates someone sent us for Christmas and the dogs have a new bag of chow. So we're all set!!

I am in Annapolis - about 18" of snow so far & still coming down. It is frigid & wind gusts were reported at 50mph. I'm on the water and it has been white out conditions most of the day and white caps in our cove - unusual. We aren't used to this! Our average Dec snowfall is 1.7" - so the news said. Fortunately, we still have electricity, since our power goes out when Mother Nature sneezes. I 've been shoveling snow all day. I am tired, cold and hungry. DH made chili with fresh turkey breast that I grinded with my new Northern Tools Meat grinder that arrived yesterday. The grinder is great - the directions (none) are terrible. I had a problem finding a fresh turkey breast, because people hoard food here when they call for snow - the shelves were bare and the people were nutso in a TJ's I stopped in after a client meeting yesterday.
So we are good. but I'd be better if it were 76 (or I didn't have a naked tree in the corner.)

So Tracey and LPink, did the snow ever reach you? We have easily had two feet. Fortunately it's light and fluffy and easy to shovel.

I really am enjoying this storm. No stress about getting to work, just a nice day at home. I just got back from my neighbors where we shared a couple glasses of wine, some hummus (wow do I have bad breath), and I walked home in the blizzard -- just a block and a half. It was beautiful, at least what I could see beyond what was blowing in my face.

I wonder how much more of this is ahead of us over the winter?

The weather center in Upton just issued a Blizzard Warning that picks up Mystic. They've also upped our snowfall prediction to a potential 24" depending on the bands.

The snow finally stopped here in my part of northern VA and we have about 20 inches, or maybe 22 or even 24. We went out twice to snow-blow and shovel the driveyway and sidewalk, but it was snowing so hard, it was a losing battle.

I've been mixing up cookies - chocolate crinkles, date pinwheels and vanilla pistachio crescents so far - and made a big pot of vegetable soup and biscuits for dinner.

In May, we got a 2-year-old rescue dog - mastiff and coonhound - and he loves, loves, loves the snow. The best part of the whole blizzard is I work at a school and they've already announced that we'll be closed Monday and Tuesday, so YAY! I'm on Christmas Break now!

I am just off Cape Cod and we are supposed to get 10"-15" of snow. It just started snowing about an hour ago here and the ground has a nice covering already.

It is going to be one of those pretty snows. When I go outside and look at it, it sparkles in the lights. The ground looks like glitter when the light hits it.

I love to watch it snow. I was born and raised in Florida and had never seen snow until I moved here. I can sit and watch it for hours. My family mumbles at me because I get all excited like a little kid when I know we are going to get a good snow storm.

I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying this. I am.

The snow ended late last night. All of the outdoors looks like big rolling white hills. It's very beautiful. Everything is crispy clean.

I'm glad I filled the bird feeder because it has quite a few visitors this morning. They are cute, all puffed up to stay warm.

We had two feet of snow! Now it is blowing and drifting. It looks like ocean waves that are frozen in place. It was Philadelphia's second largest storm in history.

Last night, after I got home from the neighbor's, I watched the movie "He's Just Not That Into You." Cute, and it had a happy ending.

Today will be a day of shoveling. I was supposed to go to a Christmas open house but I think I will have to cancel. I can probably get the car out but I am sure there is nowhere to park.

I still need to get the tree up and decorated. Hope it's done in time for Christmas.

As much as I hate to admit it the snow's beautiful this morning. It's still snowing lightly here. We had winds in the 40-50 mph range for several hours last night so it's hard to tell exactly how much snow's on the ground. There's a good 3' on top of the BBQ but only about 8" on the back patio. It's drifted in front of the garage door and blown totally away on parts of the driveway. I'm guessing about 18" plus another 1-3" before it's all over. The highest wind gust my Honeywell Weather Station recorded was 47 mph.

We've got Christmas music playing already this morning & ginger roll-out cookies are on the agenda for this afternoon.

Pam, thanks for the update. Nothing like snow to put one in the mood to do Christmas jobs. Good luck on the tree.

Kim's sister left Cary, NC at 8AM yesterday for the 10 hr drive to mid-Ohio. It turned into a 21 hr drive, getting there at 5AM this morning...whew.. 1000's of accidents, sat in traffic for 6 hrs in WV, gas stations sold out of gas...no way would I have even attempted the trip.

Hope others let us know how you are doing.

Pam, We didn't even get an inch. I was looking forward to a good snowstorm. I just bought a new snowtube.

It sounds like you had a really nice evening but you better get that tree decorated. I could send my daughter down. She'll make sure you get it done. She's very bossy.

I officially have 26 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live on a dead end street so my wonderful town didnt plow me out Im am stranded the snow drift are 4ft up my doors we had to call our neighbor to get us help!!!!!!!! Imagine this 9,000 property taxes I call the town emergency number and the guy says "Your dead end is not our priority" and hangs up on me!!!!! Im so mad and boiling I could melt the snow myself!!!!!!!!! And I have a wake in 3 hours!!!!!!!!

Holy smokes, Jessica, that was just horrible for those people. Imagine being in the pitch dark, freezing cold and under the English Channel. Of course the first thing I thought was where did they go to pee??

My amazing, wonderful neighbor Ben came by with his snow blower and cleared my entire driveway and sidewalk. I live on a corner, so I have a lot of sidewalk. The only thing left to do is the walk up to the front door. Everyone uses my back door, but I want it cleared for the mailman (who is a woman!).

Eileen, I hope the plows have come through by now. I feel sorry for anyone who had any kind of event planned for this weekend. I'm sure a lot of holiday parties were cancelled last night.

I was supposed to go to an open house this afternoon but decided not to go. I'm sure I could get there but there would be no place to park along the street.

Trcey, how is the little "kitchen diva"? I would gladly give her the entire job of decorating the tree.

We got maybe 8 inches. I hate shoveling mostly because as Pam says, no place to put the darn stuff. My alley doesn't get plowed and even if a plow came through there is nowhere for the snow to go, since everyone's garage opens to the alley. That will be the PITA part about trying to get to work tomorrow, trying to get the car out of the garage. Backing into snow with a front wheel drive car. Which reminds me, gotta get out there and shovel it while it is still light. Yippe.

WE got over 2 feet here in NJ!!
It was so pretty out like falling diamonds...or glitter.

Amy was home its Franks long weekend from the post office so no worrying about travelers.
I called out last night and today as well-just too much snow to deal with!
I was scheduled to be in today at noon so I got up early. Frank and I worked on shoveling for 2 hours and we were no wnere near our cars yet so I called to tell work I wasn't coming in.
WE just now finished the front of the house.

The plan for the rest of the day is to finish some small projects around the house before the holiday guests arrive and to take a walk down to the river to see the park snowcovered...and most likely a LONG soak in a bibble bath to soothe those achy muscles.

Amy wants to cook and has offered to make hamberger helper and since she never offers to cook I said OK!!

The roads here look good so I will be going back to work tomorrow and Tuesday and then I am off for 5 days!!!

Please be careful if you are driving over the next few days!!
