I got a job - in my chosen field and at only a slightly lower salary than my old job.

What wonderful news! I'm so very happy for you! Your 'small world' reminds me of this one ... when DH was interviewing for his first civilian job after retiring from the Army, (30 years ago) the potential boss asked about his service record. Turned out they had both served under the same Major at different points in their careers ... AND ... both had the same opinion of him! It wasn't a good one! LOL! Common bonds are wonderful introductory points when strangers meet. I'm glad you were able to find common bonds with the principal who interviewed & hired you. I just know you're going to do a terrific job, Jewels.

Thanks. Both jobs had their advantages. The other job paid a little more an hour and because it was located in a large city there were more opprotunities for my DH to find something. The job I took is in a smaller city but I know DH will find something so we can carpool. I really didn't have a #1 choice. I am just grateful to have a full time job. TOld the pastor this morning and he was okay with me leaving. He was happy for me because he knows how hard it is to find work. He was also grateful that I will help until they hire someone. Pkramer, yes, I am definitely happy I went to India. I will get precious little paid vacation time next year, so it was good to have already taken a long holiday.

Sheshebop, yes, the very same. I will be translating government documents connected to Iceland's application for membership of the European Union. I don't know yet how long the posting is for, but I was told it would be up to 3 years.

Well, now that's a nice holiday present! In fact, you can run out and buy presents since you know some moola will be coming in soon. How wonderful for you. When I hear that Iceland has joined the Eurpean Union, I will know it was because of you. Congrats.

Annie, they told me I would be contacted right after the new year about signing a work contract, so I expect to start work in the first week of January or soon thereafter.
