Ashley started a farm for Makayla, so now I have to sign on every time she comes here so she can "take care of the farm".

The allure escapes me, but Makayla loves it. Of course, she's 6.

Thanks, Annie. He had no idea what they were talking about, but I think he was hoping it was like the old Sim ity series -- single player and local on the harddrive. He's not going to be interested if he has to join Facebook.

Yes, that's right, it's a Facebook game. I have stayed away from it because I know I will get hooked, and I don't have time. I keep getting notices that someone has found a lost black calf on their Farmville farm or that someone has fertilized their fields and what a good farmer they are. I have several Friends who are playing. Also Yo-ville, Bejeweled Blitz and one particularly wacky Friend is playing Mafia Wars. You know who you are! She has snuffed out several gangsters, in between cooking and caring for her grandchildren. Too funny!!

I love doing crosswords and the cryptogram, but not on Facebook.

I get notices like that on Facebook as well, but I have not participated because I don't want to be a farmer and I don't have time. I barely have time to look at facebook at all or to keep up with email, and I don't even have that many friends on facebook. I grew up on a farm, and I don't want to be reminded of it.

Lars, I keep telilng Ashley and Makayla that if they want to feed the livestock and grow crops and fertilize fields, they should get right out to the farm and DO IT! (grin)

Somehow the reality of farming is not as much fun as the game, I guess.

He likes to keep a very low (as in none) on-line visibility, so he wouldn't care about the social network aspect of it anyway. Maybe I'll just buy him the latest version of Sim City. :)

Love it too. Keeps my sanity while studying and allows me to have more animals without bringing them home ;)
