Think Me Some Good Thoughts

| A couple of friends here know I've been having some odd pains and such for a couple of months. My doc, aka The Boy Wonder, has decided that given my symptoms, my cholesterol levels, my family history, we need to rule out heart issues.
So, tomorrow morning at 8:15 am, I'm having a "stress test with myo view". It's not that big of a deal, but if you guys could all think about some good clear arteries, I'd appreciate it.

Geez I was afraid you were having complications from that darn flu. And I don't mean darn! Aint genes fun! I'm actually covering them in my bio. class right now. Better to test than to be a ticking time bomb, you're lucky Boy Wonder is on the ball! ;-) But they don't call it a stress test for nothing I know. Hang in there, I'll be staring out at a bunch of blank yawning faces at 8:15, and I'll be thinking of you!! ((HUG))

OK, I saw the Boy Wonder. he says the results of the stress test were good, and both EKGs are good. He suggested that perhaps I'm "stressed". I told him I didn't have stress, I cause stress. We are now exploring the possibility that my gastric reflux is causing additional issues. In other words, he doesn't know what the heck it is. Thanks for all the good thoughts, it appears that I'm not in immediate danger of falling over so it's back to life as usual! Annie

Good news Annie - now let's get back to mending fences and yelling at deer and cooking for the rednecks.

Annie.....do me and your self a favor and ask about having a gastroscope. My DH died of esophageal cancer....caused by gastric reflux....so i am super concious of such stuff. Just a question....are you a gum chewer? Linda c |

That's good news, Annie, yet I'm sure it's somewhat frustrating to not feel great. I've been thinking about you, also. I just wanted to let you know that my daughter was diagnosed with GERD a couple of years ago. Since she described her symptoms as "waves" of nausea and the occasional "my chest hurts" it took us some time to discover the cause until she had an endoscopy. A biopsy also showed that she was lactose intolerant (later resolved). Linda, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Take care and good luck with everything. Cathy in SWPA

Annie I was hoping you would report on your test results. I am very happy to hear they are good. Even though it's a pain to keep digging to find the source of whatever's been making you feel less than great, at least you have eliminated some of the scary stuff.

Ack I hate process of elimination in medical diagnoses.

Good news! I agree with Jessica...the "process of elimination" process. Ugh! I hope it all turns out to be nothing. Deb

That's great news about your heart. I hope the boy wonder figures out what's making you feel bad soon, and fixes it. Sally

Glad to hear about your test results, but I'm still concerned that the problems persists. I hope you can get to the bottom of it get it fixed. Like Jessica, I hate the process of elimination for a diagnosis, but perhaps LindaC is onto something. What is the issue with gum chewing? Where is your doctor's office? Do you have to drive a long distance to get there? Keep us posted! BTW, I think also cause more stress than have it. I'm just not a worrier by nature. Lars

Good news, Annie. Woodie2, what's with the cooking for the rednecks....that would be me, and I'm sensitive! LOL jude

LindaC, I am not a gum chewer. I've been on Zantac for a couple of years for gastric reflux but I seldom take it because I didn't need to very often which is why he's thinking it's the reflux. That'll be the next round of tests, I'm sure. Lars, the doc is about 15 minutes away, in a neighboring town, but he's my general practitioner. If I need a specialist, it's 50 miles to Grand Rapids, they are closest. So, we'll keep trying... Thanks everyone, for the good thoughts. Annie

Annie, I don't come over to conversations very often so I just saw this. I'm glad it wasn't the old ticker. Remember when doctors used to go by the symptoms and their knowledge and tell you what was wrong instead of doing every test in the book so they won't get sued? Those really were the good old days. Good luck girl friend, you are too young for it to be anything serious! Bevery

[Beverly: one of my first memories of the forum was you posting on Discussions to get over here - Lars needed help. I never forgot that call - it really showed me what a community we have here]
RE: Think Me Some Good Thoughts

LOL, Beverly, that's OK. I remember how to spell your name, we can remind each other of stuff we forget! (grin) Yes, I remember when doctors used to actually diagnose instead of sending people on the round of experts, specialists and tests. Ah well, that's the new medical motto: "You have insurance, so we must run tests." If you don't have insurance, you aren't important, I guess. Annie

Annie, I'm glad it's not your heart. Hope it's nothing serious, and that you get it resolved quickly!
