Update on Jack

| He had a follow up appt today with the doctor who did the surgery - the pathology reports were in. It appears it was not cancerous but that something "unusual" is going on. Dr H just had the reports, had not yet spoken to the pathologist so he is going to do that soon. He has another appt for Nov 30th.
So good news??? just news???
Any more good vibes are still very much appreciated.

It's got to be frustrating to get just a little info at a time. But, at least the news you got was more good than bad. Thanks for the update, and I'll keep him and the family in my thoughts and prayers. Sally

so glad they ruled out cancer.... Don't borrow trouble...I expect they will say that it might re-grow... Glad he's doing well. Linda C |

I'm glad that it's not cancerous, that's hurdle number one. Now to decide what the problem is and resolve it. I'll be keeping Jack in my prayers. Annie

I am so glad to see that it was not cancer! My son has a lump on his collar bone that resulted after his ribs were cut away from the breast bone to correct a birth defect of the chest, when it healed the bump appeared and as he grew, so did the bump. We had it checked out and had it Xrayed but it turned out to be bone growth from his sternum that was a little out of control but was not cancerous. As he reached adulthood, the growth stopped. Apparently growth hormones acted on that particular area where bone had been cut to repair the birth defect.

A lot of people have mysterious growths that appear for no apparent reason. My friend just had one removed from her throat--scar tissue formed in an area that had not been damaged, a totally weird phenomenon. But it turned out OK. But it was really hard for her to have something so mysterious. But since it isn't cancer, take what you can get and celebrate that small victory! P.S. I know how hard it is when someone you love is ill, I know it's easier said (or written) than done when it comes to not worrying! I'll be thinking of you and praying for Jack, so keep us posted.

More interesting news - good I think. Remember that Dr Hamid thought the results were "unusual"? He was going to follow up with the pathologist.... In the mean time the family doctor met with Jack and my sister and indicated that there was a possibility of amelydiosis (sp?) which is protien deposits that are symptomatic of other illness or diseases (altzhiemers and rhemetoid arthritis for example) BUT Dr Hamid had 3 other pathologists retest the lump...and what do you know - no protien deposits - so good news. Now they still have a follow up appt with Dr Hamid and my sister wants to know what is was then and what it means, but I guess it is looking even better! janet

Amyloidosis is a very bad disease. Definitely something you do not want to have (although what disease do you want to have?). I hope Jack soon gets an answer and it's good one.

Janet, Good to hear that there are experts working towards an answer. My mother took the first response to her ailments, which were many. I worked hard with her to get other opinions, I would always remind her that 50% of all doctors graduated at the bottom half of their class. Cathy

I'm glad they keep ruling out bad diseases. It's too bad that they can't come up with an answer as quickly as they do on TV. Thanks for the update. Sally
